Visited this place for a Friday happy hour. I honestly haven't been here in well over a decade! However, since I heard about the Cajun boils I thought let's give this spot another shot! It was pretty empty when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The Good: Our happy hour drink (Tito's lemonade I believe) didn't have much alcohol, however, the manager gave us an extra shot in our drink which we greatly appreciated! Fantastic service on his part! I liked that he came out and explained how he can accommodate us with our drinks! Areas of Improvement: We had the Sailors Seafood boil - Cajun Original Wayyyyyy too spicy! We enjoy a mild Cajun flavor so this did not really appeal to us Lacked butter and flavorful seasoning Some of our red potatoes were not fully cooked and hard Some of the corn was also under cooked Potatoes and corn should melt in your mouth. I love my potatoes to be tender! We should not have to go home to finish cooking food. The shrimp were over cooked and tough. I took home the leftovers to see what I could do with this meal. This bag was full of oil not a good seasoning just oil. Recommendations: Make sure all of the food is tender! Please do not overcook the seafood! The Cajun original seasoning needs some serious work. There should be a mild buttery Cajun flavor option Add some butter to your boils not just a bunch of oil Make sure to be a bit more generous with the alcohol in the happy hour drinks! Hopefully Red Lobster will take these tips and this review into consideration. Keep at it!

We experienced a long wait, approx 15mins, before being greeted by a host, despite only two people ahead of us. There were people but also a lot of empty tables. After we had sat down, there was another delay before our server came to take our drinks & appetizer order. Another long wait to order our entrees. While our appetizers arrived promptly, our entrees took about an hour to reach the table. Unfortunately, when the food did arrive, we noticed that we didn't have cutlery & had to wait an additional 10 mins for that, which was quite irritating. While our server was attentive & did her best, the overall pace of service felt slow & disorganized. I had been looking forward to dining at this restaurant, inspired by fond memories of Red Lobster from my time in Northern Michigan, but this visit did not quite meet those expectations. The clam chowder was somewhat watery & lacked the robust flavor we were accustomed to. My mahi fish was overcooked, resulting in a dry texture. Margarita seemed a bit diluted. While there were patrons present, the ambiance felt subdued. Some tables were not cleared promptly after guests left, which was a bit of an eyesore. Overall, this experience did not encourage us to return in the future. Sorry.

Food was delicious and fresh. Our server was extremely attentive and very nice. He was knowledgeable of the menu and the atmosphere was very quiet and welcoming. Great experience!!

The Cajun sauce for my seafood boil YUCK

Well, red lobster reached out to me about my previous dine in experience at the restaurant and that I was disappointed so they compensated me with a $50 gift card to give it another try. It was worse than it was the first time I would've rather for it to been the way. It was the first time just with a little just a little seasoning and little more butter sauce, and a few more potatoes but what you all did was absolutely horrible So I did and I got the Cajun seasoning spicy and it was absolutely horrible. I believe that they use the walkers Jamaican seasoning , and from the texture of the sauce and the way it looked and the way it taste. I know that is Walker's Jamaican seasoning, no doubt about it. It was nothing Cajun about that sauce. it was so vinegary, I couldn't even enjoy it. I would've just took it back, but I just don't feel like driving back over there and all this traffic on a Saturday evening. I just don't feel like it so I'm throwing it away . They did give you more potatoes. I couldn't add extra shrimp. I just I couldn't enjoy it because it was just full of muck And you can tell by the picture!!!!!! I tried to give you all another chance and it's just absolutel horrible. I don't want another gift if you can give me my money back in cash I'll take that because I'm not going back that was horrible and whoever is back there whoever came up with this cajun spicy butter, cause it was really no butter. I had to add my own butter but they need a different recipe or a different chef. I don't know what it is, but it is bad so no thank you

Had a GREAT time here! Server was great & so friendly, so on top of everything. The seafood boil as well was so good! And well worth the price for what you got!

I typically never really eat at red lobster but, I was gifted a gift card for them on my birthday! What a waste it would be if I didn't put it to use. I just wanted something nice and easy before I headed home. I ordered the shrimp linguine along with an order of a half dozen biscuits. I ordered online and my food was scheduled to be ready at 5:11 pm, I arrived at the restaurant at 5:21 and I got my order at 5:31 pm. Do what you want with that information! However, the food was hot and fresh when I got it! After approximately another 15 minutes to get home my food was still pretty hot. The pasta was tasty, but it was kind of tough to swirl it up with my fork. The biscuits were good as always, I have some leftover and I'm tempted to go warm them up now! I haven't had red lobster in years, their food is still pretty decent. I can't say much about the dining experience, but I did enjoy my dinner!

Came here on a Saturday for a friend's birthday. She had put her name down for the wait list online and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It was super packed. The waiter apologized for the food being behind, but we thought everything came out on time. We enjoyed the drinks and their amazing mouth watering chedder biscuits. I ordered the shrimp trio dish that had shrimp scampi, shrimp and fettuccine, and breaded shrimp. Was too full to get dessert. Will have to come back again.

Pretty good food. I had their salmon bowl, which was delicious and also super filling. Their mozz sticks are ok. But they bring you a basket of their biscuits anyway and those are good. Loved their strawberry margarita. It doesn't taste like there's a ton of alcohol but it actually hits kinda hard. And service was friendly!

I've seen the sign for Sea Shack from Route 59 and finally got to try it when my sister was visiting Naperville. I called in an order and it was ready in 15 minutes. What we ordered for 3 adults: 1 lb peeled shrimp, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb black mussels, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb clams, mild 1 corn on the side 1 sausage on the side onion rings chicken tenders and fries 2 orders of rice We had plenty of food and enough for leftovers. My favorite part might be the cajun butter sauce with white rice... even more than the seafood. I love white rice with basically any sauce. The food was fresh, the sauce was mild as requested, still flavorful and not too salty. If you order the clams on its own, no sides, the bag might seem a little small but that's just because the clam meat is so small. For takeout, your seafood will come double bagged so it was leak proof. We decided to empty the bags into bowls since we were doing family style, and it was a hearty meal. I can't comment on the ambiance since it was a takeout order, but we enjoyed our food. We'll be back!

I had some of their cajun pasta and calamari, both were quite small serving sizes for their price. What put me off was adding shrimp to the pasta for 5.99 only to be given exactly five pieces of shrimp. The pasta had nothing cajun about it and served on a big plate to look bigger than it is, far too big for the small table! The pasta itself was nice, however it tasted like grocery store jar alfredo sauce. And the restaurant had far too loud music for so little people there, couldn't even talk properly to the server or family despite sitting so close on a tiny table. Would not recommend

Our server, Katie, was amazing. She was attentive, funny, and gave great recommendations on both food and drinks. The menu has a wide variety of options, so her guidance definitely helped. We ordered hibachi, which was delicious and a fun experience. The chef put on a great show and even gave us cues for slow motion videos, which made it extra memorable. A few people in our group ordered sushi and said it was really good as well. I had the shrimp dinner and added calamari on the side. The shrimp portion was generous, and everything tasted great. My only complaint is the noodles. They were very thin, similar to Pad Thai noodles, and I personally prefer thicker hibachi noodles. The soup was one of the best I've tasted. The ambiance was cute and spacious, with a cool fish tank and the drinks were a highlight. I had a coconut sake drink that was so good I'd honestly go back just for that. Overall, great food, fun atmosphere, and excellent service. I would definitely return.

BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY…read more Mesón Sabika is a truly beloved restaurant with whom I have a complicated history. ______________________ ***REVIEW #1,300*** ______________________ As hundredth milestone reviews go, this one is deeply personal -- I was supposed to have my wedding & reception here in March 2020.  That never happened due to things far beyond my control (damn pandemic) and I've been not-so-secretly pining for that moment ever since. I wound up tying the knot with the love of my life at a nearby park but without any of the fanfare, guests, food, liquor, live band, florist, or photographer.  We had already placed a sizeable deposit on a food & bev package, so when Mesón management abruptly raised the prices on us by 20% due to "volatile market pricing", we accepted a buyout in the form of gift certificates. Between dine-in and carryout orders, over the next 18 months we ate here a LOT.....I'll admit it was fun treating family & friends to dinner with reckless abandon.  Each experience was great, from the service and ambiance to the small plates and sangria.  We did get pretty ill following one visit, although I suspect it came from another guest in the vicinity, rather than a bout of food poisoning. The picturesque mansion - built in 1847 - is elegant but cramped inside, so I recommend dining on the gorgeous patio if weather permits.  Prices for tapas are the same regardless of lunch or dinner, although they do have entree specials unique to both meals (and their delicious paella is exclusive to dinnertime). Without going into crazy detail about each cold dish (of which there are 15) or hot tapas (of which there are 23), I'll call out a few highlights: the bacon-wrapped dates ($14), the duck confit ($16), the cold garlic potato salad ($15), goat cheese w/poached pear ($15), cured salmon in dill cream cheese ($14) and grilled skirt steak ($19). Their paella is great and feeds 3-4 people; I recommend the 'campesina' ($25 with chicken & chorizo) unless you're big on seafood, in which case the 'mariscos' ($42 with shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, and octopus) might be up your alley.  Desserts are splendid, especially the crème brûlée ($12) and the pear tart ($12). The servers are all male (it's a Catalan thing) and very attentive.  Order a pitcher of white or red house sangria and let all your troubles melt away until you're set adrift on memory bliss.  Or until they kick you out. * TL;DR * Just like the 'tarta de chocolate' on their dessert menu, Mesón stirs up feelings in me that are poignantly bittersweet. On one hand, I've been here 10 times and have nothing but praise for the kitchen + atmosphere.  On the other hand, whenever I see the staff prepping the adjacent event space for a wedding, I get wistful and cry a teeny bit inside.  Couldn't the COVID outbreak have waited one more month, until after my nuptials? The restaurant biz is tough with plenty of overhead, but Mesón is still chugging along and serving the same excellent tapas since 1990.  Anyone who's ever dined here can attest it's a gorgeous venue with spectacular food and professional service. I highly recommend Mesón Sabika for lunch or dinner, and if you're considering having a wedding here, do it.  Hopefully you'll have better luck than me.

Let me start with the setting because it genuinely earns its reputation. The grounds are stunning…read moreand you can immediately understand why people book weddings here. It's a beautifully converted old mansion with manicured outdoor spaces and an elegant interior. The white tablecloth atmosphere delivers on the promise of a special night out. That said, if you're coming expecting a transportive Spanish dining experience, temper those expectations. A few decorative plates on the walls aside, the space reads more traditional Southern manor than Iberian escape. Charming, yes. Spanish, not really. Now the food, because that's where things get interesting. The cream of rice soup was a genuine highlight. Buttery, brothy, deeply comforting. The kind of dish that makes you lean in after the first spoonful. The baguette served alongside it though? Stale. Sliced too far in advance and the butter arrived ice cold, straight from the fridge. At $100 plus per person, that is a detail that matters. The Queso con Pacanas had beautiful individual components but suffered from what became a recurring theme of the night: strong flavors competing rather than collaborating. The pungent cheese steamrolled everything else on the plate. The wine soaked pears showed up again later on the Chuleta de Cerdo, and while the idea is lovely, serving a pear half unsliced in a fine dining context means you're asking the guest to do compositional work that the kitchen should have already done. The Jamón Iberico is the most expensive item on the menu and the meat itself is worth every penny. Nutty, buttery, exceptional on its own. But the parmesan blanketing the flatbread crisps overpowered it completely, and a lone raw garlic clove sitting on the plate with no instruction is not fine dining. Our server was sweet enough to explain you're meant to rub it on the cracker yourself, and she handled it with grace, but that explanation should not have been necessary. The Patatas Bravas were well seasoned with a solid aioli but landed mushy rather than crispy. A miss. The Gambas a la Plancha was the clearest win of the evening and not by coincidence. It was the simplest dish. Well seasoned shrimp, bright lemon butter, nothing fighting for attention. Sometimes restraint is the whole answer. The Chuleta de Cerdo had a beautifully cooked, smoky and peppery pork chop and a mushroom sauce that genuinely complemented it. But then the cinnamon heavy root vegetable puree pulled the whole plate in a completely different direction. Our server was genuinely wonderful, funny and warm and attentive even while training a new hire. She was the clearest bright spot of the service experience and the one thing we left talking about fondly. We left the rest of the meal a little baffled. The head chef hails from Valencia, and we were told that influence shows in the food. Maybe it does and our palates just weren't reading it. But between the confused flavor profiles, the inconsistent execution, and a cuisine identity that felt more scattered than intentional, we walked out laughing and scratching our heads more than satisfied. Beautiful place. Lovely server. The food just never quite found itself.

Tonight felt especially memorable and worthy of a proper review. We usually avoid Friday nights because Vai's is almost always packed... and after tonight, it became crystal clear why. Diane and I were craving a standout meal, a little comfort, and a relaxing evening together. What we received was far beyond dinner service. We were treated like valued regulars and genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. Pete, who I believe is the manager, recognized us immediately and encouraged us to put our name on the waiting list despite the crowd. I'm grateful he did. While we waited, we sat outside near the fire on a cool evening, which added another layer of warmth and ambiance to an already inviting atmosphere. Within minutes, Pete came outside personally to let us know two seats had opened at the bar. That level of attentiveness matters. As soon as we walked in, Eliot and Mallory greeted us with smiles and authentic positive energy. Not forced. Not transactional. Genuine. They made us feel appreciated simply for being there. Even on one of the busiest nights imaginable, they engaged with guests with the same warmth and attentiveness we've experienced during quieter weekday visits. In the background, Morgan was crafting cocktails with precision while still finding time for a familiar nod that quietly says, "Good to see you again." That kind of hospitality cannot be faked. We ordered our favorite dish, the Lobster & Shrimp Rigatoni and once again it was exceptional. Rich, consistent, perfectly prepared, and easily one of the best dishes in Naperville. Without us even asking, the kitchen thoughtfully split the entrée onto two plates. That small gesture perfectly captures what makes Vai's special... attention to detail seems woven into everything they do. From the fire outside to the flowers inside, from the cocktails to the consistency of the food, Vai's creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming, polished, and sincere all at once. Authenticity and respect seem embedded in the culture there. Tonight was a standout evening for us, and I'm genuinely glad we decided to stay despite the crowd. Pete, Eliot, Mallory, Morgan, and the entire staff - thank you for reminding us what great hospitality looks like. Outstanding indeed.
