    Fried Catfish and wings
    Sylvia A.

This was an alright seafood carryout. I was in the mood for some fried fish and wings. The shrimp Po'boy was really delicious! Also enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. The fries were nothing to brag about. My fish were fried to crispness. It was good. I had the catfish and the tilapia with a side order of wings. The wings were a little overcooked. No flavor but the Hennessy sauce helped with that. I would be interested in trying some of the other seafood options on the menu. This is in a strip mall with plenty of parking available.

I stopped in supporting my new local hood, lol. I know the male owner (Tuck), so I like to support those I know. I ordered online thru Yelp/Grubhub while I was getting my nails done. It took me awhile to arrive so when I did my order was ready. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted, not by the young lady at the counter, who was on a call in order and was busy for about 10mins on the phone, no greeting from the female owner who was there and saw me waiting, or the 2 other employees. So that's why the 4 stars instead of 5. My order was ready and paid for, had I been acknowledged when I initially arrived it would've alleviated me lingering in their lobby. Because as soon as the cashier spoke, she handed me my food and I left. Something the owner could've done. *SIDE EYE* On to my food. I ordered hennessy wings, fried catfish, fried green tomatoes, fried shrimp, & the bomb sandwich (fried lobster/shrimp). I ate the shrimp in my car I was starving!!! It was good too. Fish was seasoned and tasty. Wings were good-I think $3.00 is a tad much for sauce-reheated well. Sandwich was good too! I enjoyed my food, if they deliver to me I'll order again. Even if they don't I'll probably drop by again. They definitely taste better than the Maywood location!!!!

Valentine's Day was the first time having Surf's Up. My boo and I decided we wanted a "romantic seafood meal" while watching movies and dessert - from home! So we ordered a pound of the alligator nuggets. This order sadly left out the coleslaw and bread, but the gator was seasoned deliciously and the fries were cooked well and salted. The second time visiting was about a week ago. We both got 1lbs of gator again (so 2lbs total). I'm not a big coleslaw fan so my boyfriend ate both and said they were good. The bun was yummy as was the rest of our order. Had enough for lunch the next day! Highly recommend, the cook is a funny guy, and the ladies are very nice. Can't wait to try more items on th

Come on, we MUST do better if we want to thrive. This is the 2nd BAD BAD BAD customer service experience I've had here & this time with the owner. I order fried green tomatoes (3 pieces) and 3 pieces of catfish. Mind you no fries added to the order, total $17.30‍‍‍. The owner was there. I asked him did he think his prices was fair? Response....."I could complain about the rent I pay here or the taxes I have to pay, so $17 don't sound so bad". Then he walked away. No wonder this joint had no customers. I give you 6 months before you fold!!! Poor customer service and price gouging. Last time you get 50 cents from me. Plus the food taste like #CantMakeThisShitUp!!! Yep I said what I said!!! -- at Surfs Up Aurora.

    1 Lobster & 1/4 lb Shrimp Combo $23.99

Excellent hidden gem! When I first saw this seafood place in the 'new businesses' on yelp, I bookmarked right away wanting to try it. I love anything lobster and crab and the fact that this is a local, black owned business just makes it even more special. I would recommend placing an online order with them because they do get busy. We ordered thru door dash for pick up and it was about 30 minutes or so. Be prepared that you will have to wait a while if you just go there and order in person. I got the lobster and shrimp combo and the flavors were out of this world. I loved it, everything tasted fresh and cooked like how it was supposed to be. There was definitely no leftovers. Surf's Up really does specialize in seafood. I was also able to try the fried fish and it was delicious. However, their chicken was not up to par as to what we were expecting. Maybe next time, we'll try the hennessy ones which is what they are best? known for. The tacos and po boys were also on our list to try next. I would also say the fries and the fried green tomatoes were okay as well. I can't wait to order more things off of their menu as I had a hard time deciding on what to get the first time around. Food is pricey, but what can you expect - it's premium seafood. Looking forward to when I can try the 30 dolla holla or even their crab dinner...yum! :)

This place was amazing. I ordered for my aunts birthday and she loved every bite! The food was definitely fresh and seasoned really well. She ordered the crab legs and we will definitely be back to try more stuff.

A…read morelong time ago, in my mid to late 20s era, we would order seafood boil for Father's Day so this was very nostalgic for me. I've seen the sign for Sea Shack from Route 59 and finally got to try it when my sister was visiting Naperville. I called in an order and it was ready in 15 minutes. What we ordered for 3 adults: 1 lb peeled shrimp, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb black mussels, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb clams, mild 1 corn on the side 1 sausage on the side onion rings chicken tenders and fries 2 orders of rice We had plenty of food and enough for leftovers. My favorite part might be the cajun butter sauce with white rice... even more than the seafood. I love white rice with basically any sauce. The food was fresh, the sauce was mild as requested, still flavorful and not too salty. If you order the clams on its own, no sides, the bag might seem a little small but that's just because the clam meat is so small. For takeout, your seafood will come double bagged so it was leak proof. We decided to empty the bags into bowls since we were doing family style, and it was a hearty meal. I can't comment on the ambiance since it was a takeout order, but we enjoyed our food. We'll be back!

Our server, Katie, was amazing. She was attentive, funny, and gave great recommendations on both food and drinks. The menu has a wide variety of options, so her guidance definitely helped. We ordered hibachi, which was delicious and a fun experience. The chef put on a great show and even gave us cues for slow motion videos, which made it extra memorable. A few people in our group ordered sushi and said it was really good as well. I had the shrimp dinner and added calamari on the side. The shrimp portion was generous, and everything tasted great. My only complaint is the noodles. They were very thin, similar to Pad Thai noodles, and I personally prefer thicker hibachi noodles. The soup was one of the best I've tasted. The ambiance was cute and spacious, with a cool fish tank and the drinks were a highlight. I had a coconut sake drink that was so good I'd honestly go back just for that. Overall, great food, fun atmosphere, and excellent service. I would definitely return.

BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY…read more Mesón Sabika is a truly beloved restaurant with whom I have a complicated history. ______________________ ***REVIEW #1,300*** ______________________ As hundredth milestone reviews go, this one is deeply personal -- I was supposed to have my wedding & reception here in March 2020.  That never happened due to things far beyond my control (damn pandemic) and I've been not-so-secretly pining for that moment ever since. I wound up tying the knot with the love of my life at a nearby park but without any of the fanfare, guests, food, liquor, live band, florist, or photographer.  We had already placed a sizeable deposit on a food & bev package, so when Mesón management abruptly raised the prices on us by 20% due to "volatile market pricing", we accepted a buyout in the form of gift certificates. Between dine-in and carryout orders, over the next 18 months we ate here a LOT.....I'll admit it was fun treating family & friends to dinner with reckless abandon.  Each experience was great, from the service and ambiance to the small plates and sangria.  We did get pretty ill following one visit, although I suspect it came from another guest in the vicinity, rather than a bout of food poisoning. The picturesque mansion - built in 1847 - is elegant but cramped inside, so I recommend dining on the gorgeous patio if weather permits.  Prices for tapas are the same regardless of lunch or dinner, although they do have entree specials unique to both meals (and their delicious paella is exclusive to dinnertime). Without going into crazy detail about each cold dish (of which there are 15) or hot tapas (of which there are 23), I'll call out a few highlights: the bacon-wrapped dates ($14), the duck confit ($16), the cold garlic potato salad ($15), goat cheese w/poached pear ($15), cured salmon in dill cream cheese ($14) and grilled skirt steak ($19). Their paella is great and feeds 3-4 people; I recommend the 'campesina' ($25 with chicken & chorizo) unless you're big on seafood, in which case the 'mariscos' ($42 with shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, and octopus) might be up your alley.  Desserts are splendid, especially the crème brûlée ($12) and the pear tart ($12). The servers are all male (it's a Catalan thing) and very attentive.  Order a pitcher of white or red house sangria and let all your troubles melt away until you're set adrift on memory bliss.  Or until they kick you out. * TL;DR * Just like the 'tarta de chocolate' on their dessert menu, Mesón stirs up feelings in me that are poignantly bittersweet. On one hand, I've been here 10 times and have nothing but praise for the kitchen + atmosphere.  On the other hand, whenever I see the staff prepping the adjacent event space for a wedding, I get wistful and cry a teeny bit inside.  Couldn't the COVID outbreak have waited one more month, until after my nuptials? The restaurant biz is tough with plenty of overhead, but Mesón is still chugging along and serving the same excellent tapas since 1990.  Anyone who's ever dined here can attest it's a gorgeous venue with spectacular food and professional service. I highly recommend Mesón Sabika for lunch or dinner, and if you're considering having a wedding here, do it.  Hopefully you'll have better luck than me.
