It may have been nice many years ago, but the property has not been maintained. It was a disappointing stay. The room was not clean. There was a layer of dust on all the horizontal surfaces. The screen was missing from the balcony door. There were birds nesting in the eaves of the balcony making the balcony filthy with bird dropping and feathers. Staff was minimally helpful. I've never seen a Red Lion that's this run down. Carpets are stained. Saw the police there every night for drama with guests. Towel rod was missing, toilet seat was broken, latch for locking sliding glass door was broken. No breakfast available, restaurant closed permanently, pool and hot tub were closed due to being broken. The place looks like some roach motels I've seen. I've stayed in Motel 6's that were nicer. Homeless people frequent the parking lot checking out cars in the parking lot. I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

This has been my worst hotel experience in a long time, maybe ever. I was not able to check in for two hours, clerk gave no estimate on how long it would take. I found a hotel down the street with space and called the Red Lion to say I wanted to cancel my reservation. She refused to do so without me paying $50. The story goes on and on. Once I got into the room it smelled like cat pee. There was bodily fluid on the shower curtain, the carpet and furniture were covered in stains. I highly recommend never staying here. read more

I was so excited to stay here. First the front desk help was very nice. The room key cards did not work 3 times. We kept going back to the front desk she very nicely "fixed" them and then they didnt work again. the "buffet" breakfast was a little over $6. because we were hotel guests. There was dry cereal, tea, 2 yogurts, scrambled eggs, bacon, no juice, That was all that was out. The bed was very soft and old mattress. I would have been fine with all of this but our room was dirty. No really dirty, hair in the sink and tub, toothpaste or somethings similar on sink handles and something on floor around toilet. The restaurant/lounge inside the Red Lion Hotel isn't worth sticking around your hotel for. Go. In. To. Town. Now. Cold beer is a plus but that's where it stops. Salads were thrown onto plates and served up with disarray! Even that's not the worst park of the meal. I can deal with a decent salad that looked like it go dropped and put back on the plate. Even my club sandwich I could handle with the paper thin bread and freezing cold turkey (whys it so cold?!) Although, not quite convinced the avocado was real. Is there such thing as fake avocado?? My mom ordered golden fried halibut and chips. Sounds tasty, right? Just run. Do not order this! The halibut was frozen and dipped in batter which didn't stick to the frozen halibut, so you're served up with chucks of deep fried batter and horribly chewy fish....... and there were bones!! It was awful. I texted my boyfriend about this horrid slab of fish and his response was, "don't you know not to order fish in the desert?" This was a lesson learned! My mom did gently complain and they did not offer to discount or fix something new. Maybe it would pay to be more assertive. Server was sweet but it was total chaos. It felt like nobody really knew what their role was suppose to be. I saw a lot of busy work yet nothing getting done and minimal communication between staff. What a great hotel! We brought our dog with us and they had no problem accommodating. We had a great room on the bottom floor opening up to the grass and trees! The staff was amazingly nice and gave us some great ideas about local restaurants and events. We would have missed the great Farmers Market had she not told us. Checked in only to find a lot that didn't work: the pool, the front door, and most important, the wifi. The front desk wanted me to call the tech internet provider and troubleshoot their issue. Past reviews are accurate. My room was clean so no complaints there. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Only bad thing I have to say is that on line they say they have a shuttle to the casino and they do not so that was a big hassle and I already paid for the room thru Priceline. The second floor of this place is allegedly haunted. I don't know about that, but it certainly has some strange geometry and odd architecture that give it a sort of "funhouse" vibe. The hotel is huge, and very pleasantly decorated. They have an elevator, and were willing to accommodate my limited mobility by giving us a room near the lobby on the main floor. The view from our room of the vast expanse of nothing that is Eastern Oregon was amazing. The hotel has a pool, a restaurant and lounge, several banquet rooms, and all the usual amenities. Overall, this was one of the better places we stayed on our trip. We didn't really like having to pay separately for our breakfast. It wasn't any better than the free buffets we had gotten at the other hotels we stayed at. read more

Check in took way to long. Over 15 minutes because our reservation could not be found despite providing the itinerary number. Clerk wasn't rude, but they weren't helpful or friendly. First off, to start I would NOT recommend this Red Lion. We were in town for a softball tournament in the middle of May. We called ahead of time to ask if the pool would be ready and the staff ensured us it would, of course when we arrived, it was closed. Not the end of the world. WiFi didn't work either, which was very inconvenient. The fitness center was closed and very small. The "continental" breakfast was $7 and they didn't even have a main course- just bacon, sausage and fruit. Lobby and bar area seemed pretty clean, but the room and bathroom was not. If you're staying around the Pendleton area I would recommend staying at Holiday Inn, Hampton or Best Western instead of this shithole. read more

This is a winner of a hotel, huge clean rooms, great view of the mountains and valley. The staff was excellent, this is the only place to stay in Pendleton, OR. The staff was extremely friendly. When the food finally came, it was cool, not hot and seemed like it was under a heat lamp for a while. They kept telling us it will be up soon. The manager gave us 50 percent off. We tried getting out of our house for a fast get away and upon check in the lady at the front desk said that they cannot let us get a room because of my address. I am in town for my uncles celebration of life and was excited about finding a dependable hotel for 46 bucks a night. I travel regularly on business and have stayed at a few red lions without any issues and would have given previous ones 4 stars. This one, however, was not in the same spirits. My boyfriend and I arrived at 1130 pm into a wonderful and deceiving lobby. It was absolutely gorgeous. The guy at the counter was friendly enough, but had a total atmosphere of disdain for his job about him. Even though the hotel was not full, he put us in the furthest room possible on the first floor that he could have. It was a bit annoying as we were obviously tired. We got into the room and the temperature was about 50 degrees, which was not much warmer than outside. We kicked on the heater which took about 3 hours to sufficiently heat up the room. The bed was very uncomfortable, most likely a standard for the whole hotel, not because they were pillow tops, but because they were old beds and they need to replace them. The blanket that was on the bed was ratty and in need of replacement and was as thin as a sheet of paper and made it so we were freezing until about 3 am when the heater finally heated the whole room. When I finally decided to get out of bed from the restless night of sleep that I had, I jumped into the shower and it was made for someone 5 foot 6 inches or under which was very unfortunate for both my boyfriend and I who are both six feet tall. After I had turned on the shower, the faucet started in on a high pitch whine for about two minutes while I played around with it enough to get it to stop. I was through at this point and just needed to know that I was going to get sufficient sleep tonight, so I went to the front desk and asked what it would take to cancel our reservation for the second night. The lady at the front said there was a 50 dollar cancellation fee. After arguing about it for a minute and her offering for us to go into a different room, I told her Best Western was going to be a much more comfortable option for us. She wasn't quite understanding that it was an overall hotel issue. She did not waive the cancellation fee and I will be contacting red lion about the whole situation. My suggestion? If you are in a pinch and just need a place to crash for a night and don't mind comfort or great customer service, go ahead and stay here. If you want top quality, head over to Best Western. I'm laying in my extremely comfy bed writing this review right now. Red Lion and I will be having words about this mess. read more

Probably overall the nicest hotel in Pendleton. The rooms are nice; the views of the Blue Mountains are spectacular; the location is very convenient (close to highways and also downtown); the staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable; the restaurant is decent; and the lounge is fun and frequently has live music. HOWEVER . . . The Internet reception is terrible. Really, truly, terrible. I have literally stayed in third world countries that had better internet than this place. If I had been here on business, I would have moved somewhere else (which is something I've done before). So for this reason, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who needs access to any internet services beyond, say, basic email. I won't be back myself, unless I somehow hear they have improved their wifi. read more

Called ahead and asked about pool. When we arrived in 100 degree weather pool had been out of order for several days. Customer service was non~ existent. Light bulbs burnt out, lipstick on the water glasses(yuck), tile work looked like installed by children, linens dirty(again, yuck). This was one of the highest priced hotels in the area. It was a quick stay and we were looking forward to the free signature breakfast that was part of our stay only to be charged $11.90 when we attempted to go eat. - It was 105 degrees and the first night the air conditioner was not working! -We made reservations months ago and we were still put in a completely wrong room and half the hotel was empty. We felt the man/clerk was arrogant and laughed at us because we wanted the room we had reserved and made he refused to make any changes. -There was no hospitality. Our room was never cleaned nor did we get clean towels. -Saving the best for last... THERE WAS A MOUSE IN OUR ROOM! Disgusting! My husband and his friend chased it around, finally caught it and tree it over the balcony! -They charged us $219.00 a night because of the concert weekend. It was not worth $50.00. -One more thing... the ceiling was cut out of the closet where there was water damage and looked terrible! The maintenance man did fix our air conditioner for the 2nd night. The female clerk did search for a fan for us. The manager took off 1/2 the cost of the first night. We will never return there. It was truly a disgusting experience. read more

The staff could have been a bit more educated on policy when it comes to bicycles in the rooms. They ended up having to call the GM to see. It all ended up well. The air conditioning wasn't too cold and after a long day of cycling, wasn't the best feeling. The rooms were good although there was trash and an old beer bottle left in the room. Internet was slow. Ok so not the biggest issue. Workers were rude. There weren't enough luggage carts. Blamed other guests for hoarding them. No soap, or shampoo in the room. Courteous front desk staff made our late check in easy. The room was clean and spacious which was a relief traveling with three large dogs. They lose a star for their attempt at a restaurant for breakfast. We missed the buffet and ordered typical breakfast fare of the menu thre was only one other table and both of us were perpetually waiting for service. DO NOT order the pancakes! Only cooked on one side, so tough I had to cut them with my Benchmade and tasted like they were made with salt. As a kicker, jelly and syrup did not arrive until requested and everything was cold by then. Save your time, and taste buds, and find a Denny's. read more

I am basing this on the multiple experience we had with the staff, mainly a particular lady in management. However, through out the stay it was certainly not contained to her.
