I do not recommend staying here. I regret not doing my research before checking in because the other reviews are accurate. Pros: The view is nice, the beds are comfortable, the coffee in the morning tasted good, and the pool looked refreshing. Cons: Dirty looking showers, super outdated, no breakfast despite a HUGE unused restaurant space, closed hot tub, hot hallways, and an overall empty eerie vibe (probably because no one wants to stay here). Oh, and our fridge was not working when we arrived and they did get us a replacement, which was kind of them. This hotel has a lot of work to do in order to make people want to stay here again. It's decent for the price ($119 for queen ) pool was nice on hot day and had it all to ourselves (maybe 10 people in this seriously large hotel ) - service was friendly - rooms were clean - it just needs massive renovating (hasn't been remodeled since 2005) shower has got to be original since the 70's (took 3 min shower wash the day off and to get out fast ) restaurant was stocked but "temporarily closed" - reminded me of being in the big empty lodge on the shining read more

On 10/8/24, I stayed at Red Lion Hotel in Pendleton, for the third time. Although this is an older property, I like it because the rooms are comfortable, as is the bed, and the building is well constructed, ensuring I get a good nights sleep without wearing earplugs. The employees working the front desk have always been very helpful and friendly, no matter how late I rolled in. As a single female traveler, I always feel safe here. I like that it's directly across from my favorite gas station. I've never had the opportunity to use the pool, but they have a nice one. You can't beat the location, which is directly off of the freeway. You can't beat the price either! I'll be back. PS. Worst hotel experience I've ever had -- Red Lion Pendleton I spent $120 on a room I didn't even need to stay in I only booked it so I could use the pool facilities. On the day of checkout, they denied me pool access, which I have never experienced at any other hotel. In every place I've stayed, amenities are available the entire day of checkout. Instead of working with me, they actually called the police to have me removed and banned from the property for life... for simply lying by the pool. Being from Pendleton, I'm embarrassed this is how guests are treated. On top of that, the property is a shadow of what it used to be: no restaurant or food options, poorly maintained pool, and absolutely terrible customer service. There were maybe two cars in the parking lot, and now I understand why. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Pendleton, make this your very last resort. read more

I'm giving this a 3 star and I'm not 100% sure why... I'm staying here for a funeral unfortunately. Room wise- we have a 2 beds, queen sized, full bathroom. The bathroom toilet paper holder is broken so we had to Jimmy that when pulling toilet paper. I did a dust check- above the bed headboard and there was dust, dust on the light fixtures. The light located at the desk has a wonky light bulb holder due to what looks like someone bending it. There are some dark spots in the corners of the bathroom ceiling... which upon investigation is mold due to the fan doesn't work! The light above the door when you walk in is or appears to be sitting on a cracked ceiling panel. The sheets/ blanket are thin so if you get cold easily and rely on blankets then bring some. Pillow wise, I would bring your own because these ones are lumpy. If you go to the restaurant/ lounge just be mindful that things are limited food wise/drink wise. It isn't a full bar. We ordered Alfredo which comes with bread and salad. The Alfredo sauce is a little more on the liquid side. Bread was alright. Ranch dressing isn't home made. I had a beef/ vegetable soup which that was probably the best thing. Chicken strips and steak fries to go... those are good. However we took them to go- which was back to our room in this hotel & they charged us a $3 surcharge... which is kinda annoying since we're staying here. Lava cake isn't like what I've had. There was no lava in the middle. It was a rich/ dry cake. I wasn't a fan of our server because she made excuses for a lot of things or blamed previous coworkers for food/issues. The gentleman who worked the lounge was great. Was real and upfront about the menu. I feel sorry for the workers because it seemed like they're having to walk on eggshells with the lack of items they have on menu, with the fact that they couldn't adjust the heat. The lounge was freezing. There were 4 others in here and out of them 2 others complained. It's as if corporate doesn't care and just wants to make a quick buck. Which leads to their staff feeling and getting the wrath of customers who aren't happy with service. Toilet wise- you have to hold handle down and flush and it's loud! You can also hear the others flushing. The hotel needs some upgrades & probably better management. The staff is suffering! read more

Red Lion was not a roaring success. We rescinded our reservation. Not because of the COVID precautions that also closed everything that was open to all guests (gym, restaurant, pool and even restrooms). And not because of price or location that hugged the interstate. We even made light of the fact that Red Lion hotel was founded in 1959 but has maybe only seen one renovation since then. Like a museum of lodging from another generation. See photos. No, we backed out because our room's AC couldn't push out any sufficient cool air during a heat wave. And front desk only offered a fan. No other rooms available. Fair to say the manager was hospitable and friendly about the refund. Maybe stick with the national chains at this interstate exit. read more

We had stayed at the Pendleton Red Lion several times in the past and enjoyed the restaurant and the pool, so we decided to stay there again on our recent road trip. Pulling up, it looked a little shabby on the outside. We checked in to find the restaurant still closed for COVID reasons (?). The room was OK, but out on our balcony, the concrete floor was full of bird poop, the railing had bird poop all over it, there was a bird nest with bird poop on it and the light fixture on the balcony was also full of bird poop. (It appeared that all the balcony railings had bird poop on them.) We went down to the pool and the railing around the pool was full of poop, however the pool was great, especially with the very hot weather. Walking back to our room, we went up the steps from the outside to the second floor and found it was pitch black in the hall. It seems there had been a power outage and they don't have any emergency lights in the hallways, so we felt our way down to the end of the hall which was only illuminated by two exit lights which did nothing to help visibility. We pounded on the fire door because it was locked we couldn't get through it . Somebody in the lobby opened it for us and we then went back to the room by feeling our way down the hallway; it was it was impossible to see anything. We felt our way down to where we knew our room was and went into the room to await the return of the power. No TV or AC and the temp was rising. Finally, the power returned. This was the first time in a long while that I've stayed where there was no coffee maker. A microwave, but no fridge, either. The paint is peeling on the exterior and some of the wood siding is in bad shape. There was a lot of mold in the shower tiles. In the morning upon checking out, I asked for a receipt. I was told they didn't have one because I had inadvertently booked it through a third party. I did not realize that at the time and was surprised when I found out I paid a $16 booking fee. From the website, it appeared I was dealing directly with the hotel. In any event they were unable to give me a receipt and he said he didn't even know how much I had paid for it. They said a receipt would be emailed to me by the booking agency, but it never was. Sad to say, but avoid this place; we will not be back. read more

This is a really cool old hotel with a gorgeous view. I visited here during the latter half of the pandemic so dining areas were closed, which made for a cool eerie empty restaurant you could just stroll into. I'm writing this review because I came here on a business trip and really needed reliable wifi. The wifi sucked, it had a barely-there signal so weak I could only load my emails but not send any. Step up your wifi red lion! Everything else was great, just as good as you would get at a comfort inn. The outside is wearing down, but the inside seemed to have some updates and the place is just well made. The bathtubs were real porcelain and there weren't all those cheap fixtures the new hotels have. Overall, keep being weird and cool Red Lion Inn but please fix your wifi range. read more

What a disappointment. We reserved our room 6 months ago for the Hotrod A Rama Car Show. Check - in was smooth except being told the pool is closed to maintenance. Not what we wanted to hear when it's 110 outside. Get to our 1st room clear on the other side of the lobby. Broken AC and a super large bright yellow stain on white bedding. We go back to lobby and put us in another room in same area. AC works great but room is FLITHY. Dental flossers all over floor. Large metal hook in walkway. Then notice dirty towels just hanging in bathroom and no toilet paper. Both rolls empty. My husband inspects the bed. Good there! I go back to lobby to ask for clean towels and toilet paper. I was given towels but said they would bring us toilet paper. ( they never did so we used some we had in our car) Garbage also was left on our balcony. My suggestion is to look elsewhere and stay at a place where you will feel clean and don't have to worry about AC. The front desk ladies were friendly but seemed like they were use to people not being happy about their stay as nothing was done about how crappy our stay was. No discount was offered, no sincere apologies- NOTHING!!! We know now for next year to stay elsewhere. read more

Tom and Marvin saved our weekend! We were pulling into town when our booked accommodation at Super 8 told us they had canceled our reservation, even though we were booked months in advance! All area hotels were full due to events in town, and we were stuck. Tom and Marvin made sure we had a clean room and a great base for the weekend, even though the bed configuration we wanted wasn't available - thank you!! First impression: Old. Furniture so outdated and showing its age. Scratches, dents, etc. Oh well. Was tired from driving. Went to restaurant. Took 3 tries to get jalapeno poppers correct. Oh how I wish I would have taken pictures! We set up reservations for a King bedroom to take a 'babymoon' as I'm 8 months pregnant. When we arrived it was extremely hot in the lobby ( it was hardly below the temp outside during a heat wave) which wouldn't have been too big of a deal however the staff that was checking us in was so scattered and couldn't remember the name the room was under right after she typed it in and other available staff were gossiping at the front desk unhelpful to her struggling so it took much longer than expected. When we got to our room three of the four bulbs and light covers were missing from the single light fixture tucked in the corner leaving the room dark with an oddly lit Godfather-esque recliner. I went to the bathroom and it was hardly clean both mirrors in the room were notably dirty as well which isn't necessarily horrible but it ust felt dingy. Once we were established in our room we sat on the bed and noticed not only were the sheets stained but a small family of bugs were taking advantage of the room as well. After guilt tripping ourselves about wanting a room change we finally went out to the lobby. We discreetly requested a different room though, the woman helping us at the front desk was very irritable with us. However she was clearly the only employee that was actively helping guests and y'know... we all have bad days ( it seemed like a very busy day and the other employees were just loitering at the front desk still gossiping. While she was fixing things in rooms, running around checking people in.) After she continued getting more and more frustrated I explained about the bugs and that we were hoping to just try another room to avoid the hassle, but they denied a room switch and that's when we reiterated about the bugs in the bed and that because of that we would need to check out and request a refund. The manager began talking about how they don't have to refund us and that they weren't required to help us with it. Turns out what she was talking about is that the website which we set up reservations with is considered a third party ( I assume it may have been franchise owned rather than corporate). The woman helping us explained that further, and basically just said look it up. I asked her if someone would be able to help us with the process as I assumed (apparently wrong) that they might be more familiar with it. All she gave in response was a heavy "no" no other words the same way she had denied us another room. I asked if she knew how long it might take or how complicated it might be, " it's not easy, it's a process." We called the third party number for the refund and the customer service (who was surprisingly amazing gratefully!) Requested a name to ask for when they called the hotel for approval of the refund, that's when the manager chimed in from her side conversation and gave us her name. Customer service called very promptly and had it approved very quickly. While the lady who had checked us in (not helping us previously) answered the phone and called my partners name and seemed again not in the know how. It was figured out quickly but the amount of just disrespect when we had been very calm and polite especially considering the situation was very frustrating as well as the lack of courtesy and communication between all involved. When it was all cleared up we thanked them for their time and genuinely wished them a good day. The woman who was helping us out in a tone just said "yeah". once out of earshot me and my partner continued to talk in the car venting and trying to comprehend what had just happened. I would honestly give 0 stars if I could based on the customer service, lack of communication between employees, uncleanliness, attitude about their own room quality and plainly being disrespectful to customers and unprofessional talking poorly about other coworkers as well as visitors. I honestly am still in disbelief. Another thing I think is important to note is when we were checking in, the other woman checking people in next to us ( the one who had checked us out) was freely talking about other visitors to people she was checking in that didn't mention anyone else staying there prior or specific names. The lobby clerk clearly was giving full names of other visitors, their plans and where they would be to people she only could have assumed we're strangers. Which I personally wouldn't be comfortable with or if in her position feel like it was appropriate to share. Gratefully we were in and out within an hour and a half and the refund process was extremely simple and quick! I had always thought The Red Lion was a nicer hotel and the experience besides the easy refund was very disappointing. read more

they remodeled and refreshed the rooms since my stay two years ago... very clean and no longer looking "dated". I really like how they kept the old decor but with fresh paint and new floor tiles and counters. Additionally, house keeping efforts were in full force making this place looking spiffy. Was in Pendleton for 2 days for a bike rally at motorcycle rally. Went to our hotel that I booked the rooms with and there was no restaurant no pool pool pool broke down the day before period the restaurant had been close since March. Nothing was said on their Web page about this I was offered a discount of $40 which I never received. The key fobby broke in my room I had to return to the desk to get another one this happened several times I could not get into the hotel. To shorten it it was theorist hotel experience I'd ever had. It stunk of mold. Over all the hotel was in pretty bad shape I was going to get a refund so I had no choice but to stay te 2 nights. Stay away from the red lion inn in pendleton, Oregon. Please avoid at all costs. We were traveling with our dogs and had drove all night and needed a place to stay that accepted pets. I called and the front desk staff was nice and set me up with a pet room on the first floor with a sliding glass door. Great. We get checked in and head to our room to find DOG PEE on the bed! We left the room and went to the lobby letting the staff know what I found. The woman was appalled and changed our room and lowered the rate. We get to the second room and there was dog pee on this bed! It was clear at this point that who ever is serving the rooms is not changing the bedding at all, but just remaking beds! How DISGUSTING! We husband and I slept on top of the sheets in the cleaner of the two beds because it was 7 am by this time and we just needed to close our eyes. In the morning I realized the second bed had much more dog pee than I could see from the night before! I will give credit to the hotel for not charging me for the room, but this is a MAJOR health violation that should not be taken lightly by the hotel and I hope they terminate the person responsible for cleaning the rooms. read more

So we have a long long story but here are the highlights. Got stuck in Pendleton because the pass was snowed out. Pulling a 27' uhaul and a 24' trailer I couldn't make it without chains. So I needed a place for myself, my wife and my three kids, our cat and our Saint Bernard. Called around red lion offered the best price and fairest pet policy. Even gave me a discount for being a Salvation Army officer. I then get stuck in there parking lot with my monster of a truck and two if the employees helped get us out and did so with a smile in the snow. This red lions was also clean, provided good tv stations, free wi fi and a full service restaurant. read more

This hotel looks like it's closed for one. We got checked in for our hotel and there was a sign at the front desk that said the pool, sauna and restaurant was closed for the season. We get checked in and head to our room where the key didn't open our door. I go back and ask if there was a specific way we needed to put it to open the door. They didn't offer to show us or to even check if it was activated. Good thing the other door worked. We also found out that the washer and dryer were broken too. They have two computers you could use one of them had a sign on it that said it was out of order. The other one was out too but no sign. Then someone called us from the hotel and when we returned the call no one knew who called or why. We went to take a shower and they had left a dirty was cloth hanging over the shower. Makes me wonder if our room was even cleaned to begin with. The shower when on made an awful noise and the shower head needed to be cleaned because although the pressure was good the head was clogged. The toilet constantly ran after flushing it and the sink didn't drain. I was walking to the door from outside a a lady driving a black Honda CRV come around the corner and almost hit me. Wasn't even looking for people crossing under the foyer. When you go to a hotel you pay a lot of the amenities a hotel has. All you could do here was sleep. I wish I had pics right now. So many other hotels that you could stay at. Unfortunately we were here for the 2A basketball tournament and we didn't pay for it. When I checked into the hotel the front desk clerk on the 21 said it would cost $20 a night for the cat. We extended our stay for two more nights they were supposed to charge us $123. They charged us $174. We were charged $571 for the cat. Even if it was $50 a night it should be $400 not $571. The biggest problem though is that they said it would only be $20/night. The kid at the front desk was rude 8ve stayed here each week for work 2 sepret ocassions he gave me a room the keys dont work. The 1st time tokd me he had no other room im a truck driver out of hours w a reservation finaly got the manager to come in and got my room over 1 1/2 hrs later. It may have been nice many years ago, but the property has not been maintained. It was a disappointing stay. The room was not clean. There was a layer of dust on all the horizontal surfaces. The screen was missing from the balcony door. There were birds nesting in the eaves of the balcony making the balcony filthy with bird dropping and feathers. Staff was minimally helpful. Looked like a Nice Red Lion Hotel but they had the doors to the front lobby closed, apparently, they're doing some remodeling, which looks like this place needs it! They get a strike for how hard it is to find luggage carts, and the other thing, no elevators! So if you have issues with stairs that might be a problem here! We did get a good hotel rate at hotels.com, so that makes it worth staying here! In addition to review AFTER our experience, this morning-DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! We stayed here last night, was a horrible experience! When I checked in, we were told there were no luggage carts because people hoard them, The internet was Horrible as well, but that can live with even though made me not to happy, basically the internet speed was like Dial-up speed! Plus, there was only ONE towel for a person to dry off of after a shower! And no shampoo, or soap! And the kicker to top it off? Went to get breakfast, as that is always included in the rates, and it specifically SAYS BREAKFAST FOR TWO, we got the breakfast and some lady came to us asking our room number and asked us to sign, saying we won't be charged for it, that it was just for records- so when I went to check out, the bastards gave me a copy of the charges that INCLUDED a fricking $13.90 for the Breakfast! TOTAL BS and I told them that! So now, I won't have a CC for a week as I'm disputing that charge!!! It's a good thing we have a good overall impression of Red Lion, otherwise, our experience at this one would make us avoid all Red Lions!!!! read more

This has been my worst hotel experience in a long time, maybe ever. I was not able to check in for two hours, clerk gave no estimate on how long it would take. I found a hotel down the street with space and called the Red Lion to say I wanted to cancel my reservation. She refused to do so without me paying $50. The story goes on and on. Once I got into the room it smelled like cat pee. There was bodily fluid on the shower curtain, the carpet and furniture were covered in stains. I highly recommend never staying here. read more

We kept going back to the front desk she very nicely "fixed" them and then they didnt work again. the "buffet" breakfast was a little over $6. because we were hotel guests. There was dry cereal, tea, 2 yogurts, scrambled eggs, bacon, no juice, That was all that was out. The bed was very soft and old mattress. I would have been fine with all of this but our room was dirty. No really dirty, hair in the sink and tub, toothpaste or somethings similar on sink handles and something on floor around toilet.
