We were unsure whether to seat ourselves or not, and there was no sign saying either way. We stood there for a few minutes, and all 3 people working there ignored us. I finally went and asked if we could sit anywhere, and she said yes. The waitress who took our order was very friendly. It took awhile for her to come take our order, and we waited quite awhile for our food. But, again, they were very busy, so understandable. But, the food was hot when it came out and very good! I had the Country Bowl, and my only complaint was that it had a little too much ham, so was a little too salty. It had more meat than hashbrowns. But overall, it was pretty good. My husband had the country fried steak breakfast and said it was very good. And the portions are big! I would eat there again, and try something different next time.

The fry sauce was top of the line and the CFS was up there in quality. Momma's fish and chips were cooked without excess oil and I believe they were cod. She did substitute sweet potato fries that seemed to please her, but be aware there is an upcharge. Our friend had a standard fare hamburger with the tasty high quality beef that was hanging over the edges of the bun. The beer selections were limited, but well varied so you will find something you like. My point is that while this is an off the beaten path eatery, it is worth the detour!

Unique spot with an incredible burger!…read more If you are passing through Wallace, you have to check out The Fainting Goat. What a cool spot to get a uniquely delicious burger! I ordered the French Onion burger, and while I unfortunately forgot to snap a picture before diving in, it was amazing--smothered in rich sautéed onions, a generous slab of melted Swiss cheese, and creamy mayonnaise, all served with a side of rich au jus for dunking. Truly delicious from the first bite to the last. The decor gives the place so much personality, right down to the unique bathroom setup! You step up a couple of steep steps behind the door, and the sink is made from half of a wine barrel--definitely a fun first for me. On top of the great food and ambiance, the staff was exceptionally nice and welcoming. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Mom's Vintage Eatery!…read more What a find! One of my hobbies is finding great little eateries, and great find is found. Mom's Eatery moved from Osburn to Wallace. The French Toast and Quiche were divine. They serve mainly great lunch items but some breakfast on menu too like Biscuits and gravy, hash browns bake. Menus features change daily, like meatloaf, Miner's pie. Coffee is 94 cents. Everything made from scratch! Prices are beyond reasonable, like $6 home made pie that is enough for two people. Friendly staff, great addition to the area. I'm in, they just opened and I'm already a regular.
