Harwood House at Quinn’s - Ribeye steak (very very tough) was very surprised

There is no way this is anything less than a 5-star review. My wife and I have decided that as long…read moreas we live in Montana, an anniversary dinner at Harwood House will be our tradition. This was our second visit, and it only confirmed what we already knew: this place is a true hidden gem. It is well worth the drive for anyone looking for an incredible meal and a beautiful drive to get there. The menu is exactly what you want it to be--focused, high-quality, and ideal for anyone who appreciates a great steakhouse with a Montana twist. We started with the steamer clams; they recently updated the broth, and it is phenomenal. My only "critique" is that it's served with two small pieces of bread when you really need at least six to soak up every drop of that new broth! Last year, the Prime Rib and medallions were incredible, but you have to branch out to see what this kitchen can really do. I went with the Bison Filet--perfectly cooked, generous portioning, and served over delicious mashed potatoes and broccolini. My wife had the Peppered Bison Tenderloin Linguini; the flavors were layers deep and the portion was so filling that she actually had a great lunch to bring home. Our server, Jubal, was the highlight of the evening, honestly can't say enough good things about him. He was knowledgeable, professional, and possessed an impressive amount of patience. We watched him spend 15 minutes gracefully explaining everything from wine vintages to basic steak temperatures to a very demanding table nearby. He handled it with total class and never missed a beat with our own service. We certainly won't be waiting another year to return. If you haven't made the trip out here yet, you are missing out on one of the best dining experiences in the state.

I have had 3 different entrees, just to try new things, but by far the best meal was the Peppered Bison Tenderloin Linguini was the best. I mean, it was perfection. The first time I ate, my companion ordered it. It was so good that I ordered it the next time, and then we recommended it to our friend the third time. Each time it was ordered the plate was clean at the end of the meal--and it was an ample serving. I also had the Wild Game Meatloaf (great) and Beef Tenderloins Medallions (also very good). The carpaccio (bison!) is great but pretty meager as far as the amount they give you. You'll not be able to share with more than one other person. Calamari was also good. Service was fantastic each time. I can't think of anything negative to say about this restaurant, even if it were in an urban area with many other choices. Needless to say, that is not the case here, and to find this gem in the middle of nowhere was a surprise indeed. Go! And bring your swimsuit so you can enjoy the hot springs after dinner. I promise you it will be a highlight of your trip!

Both were quite tasty. They came with hot garlic bread rolls stuffed with mozzarella cheese. A big thing for me with salads is the quality of the lettuce. Sometimes you get old dead, dark green or yellow lettuce. Maybe the white parts are brown. It's just old. and should be thrown away. The greens they served were fresh with no blemishes or discoloring. The other toppings were fresh. This was a very pleasant lunch. Shout out to our server/barista, Nevaeh. She provided great service with a smile. Totally a keeper!

When I walked in and saw all that they had, I wished I wasn't so full so I could have tried more than just ice cream. That just means, I'll definitely be back for lunch and more sweet treats. I got 2 scoops of ice cream: cotton candy and huckleberry with a hot latte coffee. My friend got a scoop of huckleberry cheesecake with a white chocolate mocha. My ice cream was super tasty and the latte hit the spot. The ambience was quaint and cozy. The barista was smiling and friendly and even let us take a paper menu to go. When asked, she did inform me that the ice cream flavors change on a regular basis and more often during the summer. I can't wait to come back to try a new drink and dessert.

Food was meh, from the freezer to the fryer. Service... well, it wasn't great. Really dislike having to ask for things multiple times, especially when we were literally one of two table in entire place. Biggest annoyance- incorrect menu, many things no longer available. Server told us they were out of multiple things.

He was able to give it back for them to cook more. It ended up being good. My chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes had gravy on it that tasted like it came from a packet, not to mention that the potatoes tasted like they had chopped up real potatoes and added them to instant potatoes. A soup or salad as well as a dinner roll was included, but the soup, Tomato soup, tasted like pizza sauce, and the salad had about three different toppings to choose from. So not impressive. And we never did get our dinner roll. A dessert was included, but the server took our dinner plates away and never offered the choices for dessert. She was gone for 10 to 15 minutes at a time without checking on us. She brought us our bill and we had to actually ask for the dessert that was included. It ended up that the desserts we requested were not available. Due to the lack of options, the server was nice enough to subtract one of the entrees from our dinner bill. The server was nice but unknowledgeable of what meals the restaurant was out of, how often to come and check on us, or how to communicate with us regarding the bill (we didn't know that we had to go up front to pay, so we sat for 15 minutes and had to call her over). We will never eat here again.
