I have never dined at the restaurant but I do DoorDash from here periodically. A bad cold usually triggers my urge for Chinese food and the first part of my order is always a large size hot and sour soup. Theirs is very good, has a nice medium spicy flavor and always helps relieve my congestion. I frequently order orange chicken also. Theirs is a little different than most but still good. They are smaller cuts of chicken that are on the crispy side and there are red chilis added in for spice. Looking over my previous orders, I have had the vegetable egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, vegetable chow mein, vegetable pan friend noodles, kung pao chicken, kung pao tofu, Mongolian beef, and szechuan beef and everything has been good. All of the entrees are a decent sized portion and come with a side of rice.

Every time I am in town this is my first visit! We've been going here for years! Salt & Pepper pork chop for the win!!! We literally order 4 orders at a time! The salt and pepper fish and tofu are delicious as well and the green beans! Finish it off with egg drop soup and egg fried rice! Yummm!

We had dinner last night at Red Lantern Chinese Restaurant in Brea. Curt had Orange Chicken and I had Chicken Chop Suey, both came with rice. We have enough for another meal tomorrow !! As you can see, they have very generous portions, and we had exceptional service from Abbey, our waitress ! Reasonable prices as well! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place is near work, so I stopped by and got a Kung Pao chicken lunch special to go. For $6.99 I got a lot of food, and it was surprisingly good - nice pieces of chicken, lots of peanuts and water chestnuts, just the right level of spice, and not overly heavy. I will definitely come here again. Next time I will eat in so I don't miss out on the soup. read more

The service rushed, but attentive. The soup and fried egg roll were delicious. The entrees were disappointing - no spice at all (and there was an asterisk saying spicy). Chinese food that delivers in Brea? Awesome! We ordered chow fun, walnut shrimp, cream cheese wontons, tofu veges, and salt and pepper pork chops. I thought the tofu veges, chow fun and wontons were good but the pork chop and walnut shrimp was disappointing which are usually my favorite chinese dishes. The delivery was about 50 minutes as promised and the food was warm enough. The guy that took the order was real funny, asking my wife to stop ordering food cuz we got enough. lol. Looking forward to trying other dishes! read more

Looking for a new Chinese spot we came across the red lantern. The place was small but clean, the service was fast and we got a lot of food for a low price. The hot and sour soup was delish. We also got combination fried rice, mogolian beef, orange chicken, Kung pow chicken, and paper chicken.. all very tasty and clean non greasy food. I didn't care for the vegetable eggrolls, to much dough not enough vegetables but everything else was a winner! read more

went here when in-laws came to visit and wanted to eat with my family. my mom works at Brea Mall and yelp pointed us to this as the closest Chinese restaurant. I arrived and immediately got scared that we won't fit as we had a party of 12. We ending up taking up all the tables in the center of the dinning area. So my parents were running late and we just ordered appetizers. This is when I started to notice something. There is probably only one chef. It felt a little slow compared to the Chinese restaurants that I've been to. However, the food comes out extremely hot (temperature wise) which is what I expect out of any Chinese food. Food is pretty good, not something I would crave. I love salt and pepper pork and this place hits the spot. I can't remember what everyone ordered but it came out alright. We of course eat family style and share what everyone picked so we ordered at least 12 dishes. I sampled them all and it was good. Only one waiter and she did pretty good for handling 12 of us and other customers. I think this place is a great take out spot, but if it gets busy... dine in would leave you starving for awhile. As I was leaving I saw a table with lots of food untouched. Not sure if they were mad because of the wait or the food tasted terrible. I'm Asian... wasting food like that is just horrible. I'd say take it home and use as left overs or something. Unless they didn't pay... I probably won't be making any visits since I'm rarely in this area but I would have to say its worth a shot for anyone who is and anyone that's local to order take out. read more

A large group of us at work thought it would be fun to order Chinese food in and try a bunch of different entrees. We ordered 10 entrees all together and everything was SO good! Two entrees stood out as super favorites: honey walnut shrimp and the sesame chicken. We had so much fun doing this and the food was so great that we will try and do it on a monthly basis. Around here, you cannot be too picky with Chinese food. This place delivers and they are usually pretty prompt. Great service too. Do not expect authentic Chinese food. You have to leave town for that. read more

I recommend this place! A little more on the pricey side but the amount of food that is served, it's worth it. I usually do pickup order and their service is pretty fast, and since it's not a busy plaza, it's really convenient if you don't want to go down to brea downtown. read more

I have to say. I am a yelp follower. This one let me down. I had the Salt & Pepper Pork Chops - they were the only reason for 2 stars. My partner has the Szechuan - Zero taste. This is suppose to be a hot dish. Not hot and no flavor. Very disappointed. read more

Most of what I have had here is really good. The teriyaki chicken is excellent. I also really like their orange chicken and spring rolls, but I am a fried rice lover and I think they have the worst fried rice I have ever had (hence the 3 stars). It's just rice with a tad bit of soy sauce and a small piece of egg; and I've had it at least 3 times and it's always bad. So yes go here, but skip the fried rice. read more

So good! I always get something new when I come here and the food is always delicious. The portions are large and a good price. I always end up having leftovers, even with the appetizers and lunch specials. They're really nice and sometimes give us free cream cheese wontons! I feel the wait for the food can be long sometimes, so I usually call to order carry out, which works best for my schedule. read more

Horrible - totally disorganized. Ordered my food from Eat24 - Got there to pick up and the lady at the desk did not know where my order was. As I was standing there, Eat24 called to confirm it because they never heard from the restaurant that they received my order. There it was right on her tablet. She just didn't look. I was picking up for a party so she said she would have it delivered. I live 5-6 minutes away. Apparently when I got home, about 10 minutes later I called the restaurant and they said the food went out already for delivery. 35 minutes later it was not here. It could have been delivered by walking and got here within 35 minutes. Waited another 10 minutes and cancelled with Eat24. If you ever want to eat the same day, please do not go here. Totally disorganized. I can't even review the food. read more

We actually got our food delivered, which is a nice perk! At first I thought it was a little pricey (although we did order more than usual), then we saw how much food they gave you- it is definitely a deal. We got the vegetable chow mein, egg rolls, cream cheese won tons, and sesame chicken. All of which were delicious! First off they deliver and you don't see many Chinese deliveries in so cal. lady on the phone was really nice and the food got here pretty timely. This place is pretty legit. Passing through from out of town. Looked it up and decided to try based on others' reviews. Walking in you think you made a mistake. But once you try the food you won't be disappointed. It's a great spot and staff is fast an attentive. He refilled our drinks before we could even think about needing one. Awesome! read more

Ordered for delivery and it was super fast! They lady that answered the phone said it would take an hour, but it look like 20 min! I got black pepper beef with fried rice and it was just so good! Ordered this last night! Loved the Steamed Chicken with Vegetables. The garlic sauce was really tasty (a little spicy, but sooooo good). The delivery service was also pretty fast. I got delivery and ordered Chicken Chow Fun and Orange Chicken. The chow fun was absolutely delish! I couldn't get enough! As for the orange chicken, the flavor was good, but I prefer my orange chicken a little bit more crunchy/crispy and this was softer and chewier. But like I said the flavor was good. The delivery was quick and easy and I have lots of food left over (which is great for chinese food!) read more

And the Mu-Shu chicken--make sure to ask for two packs of the hoisin sauce for takeout orders. The only negative with this is that the crepe skins are stuck together by the time it gets to your home. But the flavor of the dish is excellent.

When we mentioned it to the waitstaff, they didn't seem very responsive. The XLB, every one was delicious, delicate & needed nothing additional other than a little sriracha. The wontons in chili oil were delicious, not spicy at all but had great flavor. The walnut shrimp, was perfect,crispy, saucy, sweet. The hot and sour soup was good, kind of par for the course when it comes to that soup & the cucumbers were crunchy, garlicky, perfect starter! I have seen lots of reviews about the way you order or the friendliness of the staff. I think that just comes down to different cultures, expectations of what they'd get from a server at a Mexican restaurant or Applebees. I actually liked being able to make everything off & having a receipt dropped at my table to confirm my order. The vibes were great, family style dining is a huge plus for me and mine. We will definitely be back, this one is going in the after church rotation!

First time going to the Red Lantern after they changed their owner. I wasn't too sure if the food will be the same but I guess why not just give it a try. The waitress recommended me the fillet mignon and the honey walnut shrimp, it was delicious. I guess their food wasn't so bad after the new management. They also have this special promotion going on for free chowmeins and free orange chicken with a purchase over $25 or $50. I go tons of food for an acceptable price. Shrimp fried rice is my favorite, even though I have to wait for around 15 mins for someone to serve my table after I sit down. I guess the bus boys here have no sense of responsibility, as they talk a lot, even though several customers are waiting them for placing order. Anyhow, their dish taste is good, but the food quality changes indeed. I tried cashew chicken 3 times, but every time I got different tastes, but at least it's Chinese food taste. Hope they make some improvement later. read more

Ordered the mangolion beef took one bite and it tasted and felt like rubber. Called back to let them know and the lady that picked up the phone said I'm the only person to complain about their food. That they have been serving it all day. Then when I went back to show them they started talking about me in a different language so I wouldn't be able to understand them but them yelling and looking at me gave it away. She kept saying no one complained before. read more

I love Red Lantern. I have eaten inside the restaurant, ordered pick up and had delivery services. I love their variety of tofu entrees, they are absolutely delicious. I love the orange tofu and veggie chow fun. They service is always fast and friendly. The veggies are always very fresh! read more

We order out from this place for lunch frequently. They have great lunch specials and the delivery is always punctual as well as the food always arriving hot and not cold like most delivery places. Great flavor and good quality Chinese food. Thier Kung pap chicken is delicious. read more

I ordered this thru DoorDash. The Kung pao chicken was really good! The calamari, not so much. If you want soft squishy limp calamari, this would be the place to get it. The soup was good. The egg rolls were good as well read more
