Red Heat is a staple for my family and friends -- we go here every few weeks and it always delivers. Wait staff is always friendly, music is at a good level, and the vibes are there. The food is great -- they offer gluten free substitutions for bread and breading which is awesome. I have ordered wraps the last few times and they were great. Our first visit to a Red Heat Tavern was years ago. Since then, our meals have continually disappointed. The fish tacos were boring, made with limp lettuce, barely any sauce (who knows what it was, it was tasteless on two out of three) and one taco had only half the amount, one morsel of fish on it while the other tacos had two pieces. It lacked any shredded cabbage, cilantro, and a creamy, tangy sauce or fresh lime juice that one would expect. The mac and cheese was basic, although we thought made for vegetarians (waitress confirmed) had a piece of bacon or meat in it and would have been nice to have a side of garlic bread. My IPA was fine. The only saving grace was that my partner could order the Grosling's Ginger Beer off the menu as an alternative to the non-alcoholic offerings and average sodas. Red Heat was loud. LOUD. Music was blasting. The place was uncomfortably loud with conversation. Waitress had to yell. That said, we won't be back. read more

We immediately sat at the bar. Pomegranate martini was excellent, the margs were strong and offered with salt, sugar or tajin. Our food came out so fast, all hot and ready. The burger was cooked medium rare wonderfully and the garlic mashed potatoes could have been softer. The steak tips were also cooked medium rare and very good. The parm fries left something to be desired, I wish we had chosen sweet potato fries. The Caesar salad was lightly dressed and heavy on the parm cheese. The fried chicken was excellent especially with the mashed potatoes and green beans. The white gravy on the side was delicious. A very pleasant time for a Sunday night, I am still impressed with the speed of the service! The BBQ burger with bacon was around $18 and the salad was about $13. Came in with a large group of coworkers and the restaurant was gladly able to accommodate us, however we were spread across a few tables. At least we were all at tables next to each other! I have extensive allergies and while the waiter couldn't immediately answer all of my questions, he diligently checked with management and the kitchen on anything he couldn't answer. Couple of appetizers and a nice meal with a couple drafts was just what the doctor ordered on a Sunday night before my Daughters hockey game. Great draft selection although I hate the 13oz pour on the stronger offerings! Thank you very little. But the other IPA's they offered worked! This is a happy place near the base! The staff are friendly and attentive. The farmhouse burger was juicy and delicious! The side salad was large and flavorful. The mojo shrimp were on a delicious lemon rice that really piqued the flavors. The charred broccoli was also perfectly executed. They have many great drinks. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here, based on many visits over years. Food looks, feels, and tastes fresh, and they respect vegetables. The cole slaw isn't my favorite, but there's so much right about he food that I can't give that much weight. Service can be spotty, though often quite good. The bar area, especially, can get too noisy at times for table diners. Maybe add some soft surfaces? read more

Everyone complained that their food was cold. I tried the Greek salad with grilled chicken. It was okay, very small piece of chicken for price. The bigger issue was service. We barely saw our waitress - just to take order and to bring bill. She didn't even bring our food out. Felt like a fast casual restaurant where we were on our own. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, but only recently had a chance to go. It is a large, oen, and quite noisy room. This was an issue for us as we were with my parents, who have difficulty hearing, and find a noisy environment distracting and tiring. That said, the hostess moved us to a slightly quieter location near the back when we asked, which we appreciated. Service was spotty. Our server tended to vanish for longish stretches, including when we wanted to pay the bill. Food and drink orders went in fine, but when the food was delivered, only 3 of the 4 meals showed up together, and the 4th took an additional 10-15 minutes. Not ideal. My wife and I had salads, which we both enjoyed. My parents had a wrap and the haddock, which they enjoyed, but were too much food for them--not the Tavern's fault. All the food was fresh and well prepared, and looked, and tasted good. Didn't check out the beer list, but all indications are that it is worth a return trip to learn more :-). And we will be back, but hoping our server is more attentive. read more
