One of the worse Chinese meals we've had!!! Any good reviews here baffle me. The food is as average and bland. Most of the dishes were served room temp or barely warm (even the tea!). Oddly, two of the warm dishes were served on refrigerated cold plates? The nime chow tasted old, the coconut shrimp soggy, etc. The service was slow and the server had no expression or personality and you could barely hear her speak. The decor was as bland as the food. It was near empty on a night when it should have been busy -- a sign we should have left upon entering. And the older woman, I assume the owner, had no clue about any of this. I can't believe I just wasted nearly $100 on such a crappy meal/experience!!! If you appreciate good chinese food, don't come here -- there are plenty of terrific chinese restaurants in RI who know what they're doing! read more

YUM YUM AND YUM! Pork fried rice is super delicious, steamed dumplings are great and I had the udon noodles this past order. The chef was nice enough to prepare the noodles into a soup rather than pan fried which was so nice! Haven't had a negative experience ever - food is always prompt, hot and really good. read more

Garbage and rude service at your service! Food is extremely bland and needs something. Ordered soup, was all rice and chicken, no broth. Food was very bland, we had Lo Mein and chicken wings. No thanks. Lo Mein tasted like a cup of good ole Ramen Noodles. The best part...the delivery driver calls and says I am here, so we buzz him in. No one comes to door. Driver buzzes our door, we buzz him in. He yells I was waiting for you outside! We are very busy tonight, we can't just come to your door! Are you kidding me?? He was very rude!! I am not sure if there's a new management or what Cos there are all new faces when we were there last week. We went there for lunch at 12.30 and the place is freezing cold. The food is good. Probably best in the area. After an hour of waiting for the food to be delivered. I open my front door and had to say "Hello" 3 times before the delivery person turned around. (His back was towards me) The exchange was made and he just stood there. Looking mad. I told him I waited an hour. I was assuming it was the tip I gave him that caused his look. ($2) To be honest I didn't want to give him anything because he was rude. All of a sudden he is yelling at me. I couldn't understand what he was saying. Then he gave me the finger and ran off. I sat there puzzled, scratching my head going, wtf just happened?! Which is the reason I am giving one star. I will probably never order food from there again. Which is unfortunate. I tip on service, that is how tipping works. Not just give money to servers or delivery drivers. If I get good service I tip really well. If I get bad service well...not a good tip. Chinese restaurants are all over, but this one is a 5 star experience. If there is a flaw it is that it is located in a very small, strip mall parking lot. The service is fast and friendly. The menu is extensive with a section for authentic Chinese. The meals themselves are plentiful. I had the chicken lettuce wraps and it was enough to feed two people. This place used to be fairly authentic (except for MSG in most of their dishes) and very exceptional in both the friendliness of the wait staff, and when placing orders. Unfortunately since about late 2007 they got a new cook, or changed suppliers, something that tampers with the food quality. Tried this place tonight. We've had issues with another local Chinese place and decided it's time to find a new place. The exterior of this place is not much to look at. It's in a strip mall with a single cafe table out in front. However, once you get inside, things get considerably better. Inside the restaurant, the place was spacious and tastefully decorated. We were immediately greeted by a waitress who allowed us to chose the room and table we wanted. Within a minute, she was back to take our drink order and when we put our menus down, she was right there to take our food order. The food arrived in a jiffy and was outstanding, healthy portions and quite tasty. As a side note I have to add that the temperature here was just right. One of our issues with the order nearby Chinese place was that the air conditioning was too cold and we needed jackets to eat here in the middle of summer. Not the case here. Well done! read more

One word: bland. Ordered delivery online, and was told 35 minute wait. An hour later no food? Maybe they didn't get our order.. called the restaurant and they were very confused. This place has got the best lunch time special around. For $6.50 you get a main item, plus a choice of either plain or fried rice, choice of Egg Roll or Crab Rangoon, choice of Egg Drop or Hot and Sour Soup. And when you get the plate it's loaded with food. I had the Orange Flavored Chicken the other day, and unlike most Cantonese restaurants which use frozen pre-coated pieces of chicken, you could tell these were made fresh to order. With the results being a crispy coating that was tossed adequately with the spicy orange sauce and not a hint of mushiness. read more

We stopped here for a post workout meal. Great menu selections with gluten free and lower calorie options. I got what could be seen as a boring meal - steamed vegetables with chicken. I was very happy with this dish and was given a side of red chili sauce and gluten free soy sauce to spice it up. Definitely a great place with friendly and engaging staff. This is the best Chinese Restaurant in Rhode Island. I was reading some of the other reviews and I can't understand how any of them could be negative. When you go to this restaurant, be aware that there are two parts to the menu. There is the American menu which will list dishes like Lo Mein, General Tso's Chicken, Wonton Soup, etc. Don't order from this part of the menu. You'll find the authentic Chinese dishes in the back of the menu. If you go to their web site, it's called "Menu2" I have eaten at this restaurant many times. Each dish I've tried has been excellent. I recommend the crock pots, but it's hard to make a bad choice. Additionally, the prices are really good. Did you know you can get a steamed flounder for $14.00 there? That's insane, when you consider that other restaurants will sell that same dish for twice as much. The rest of the menu is generally $10.00 per dish and the portion size of each dish is enough for 1.5 meals. You can't beat this value. I'd also like to mention that the waitstaff is extremely friendly. The manager will sometimes come over and strike up a conversation. If you're looking for a great restaurant that servers authentic Chinese food, then go to Red Ginger. This restaurant was recommended to me by all of my Chinese co-workers, and I have to say that Red Ginger definitely lives up to the hype. read more

Just ordered from here for a coworker & myself and it was absolutely horrible. The lo mein & fried rice tasted and smelled like burnt popcorn, the egg roll was beyond burnt & dripping oil, and the beef teriyaki was the texture of jello that had been sitting out for a week or so. We ordered from there a week ago as well and the food was great, but tonight it was the most disgusting thing I've tasted in a while. My coworker called to complain and she was trying to bring us a new order, no thanks, so now she's trying to credit our next order, also no thanks. Not sure what I got but I ordered the combo plate of boneless spare ribs and rice, not a fan of Ham chunks in Fried Rice, why screw with something that's perfect. Recently came for some chinese fix. While I think this used to be the best in town, the quality has gone downhill a bit the past year. Excellent food and service. I order takeout almost monthly and every few months I done in. The staff is always attentive and kind. I've enjoyed every dish I've tried from both the americam chinese and authentic chinese menus. I most often order the fried tofu with chili oil, beef lo mein and vegetable chow mein. Their chicken dishes and vegetable dishes are all flavorful and not covered in thick sauces of sugar and salt. Their fried dishes arent grease soaked and they never taste of stale oil like a lot of other take out places. They have bubble tea which is not carried many places too!
