Chicken satay - so good! Juicy and well flavored - the peanut sauce wasn't my fav but overall still the best I've had in RI overall. I had a drink that tasted like candy and was pretty too! My first time going to Khoo was the other week with a friend. It was off hours, 2:30 on a Sunday but there were people coming and going - always a good sign. The queer o meter was a solid 10. Service was great and the food much better than I was expecting. I'm from Boston and I'm used to the Chinese food in the surrounding areas and from Chinatown but this place helped restore my faith in good Chinese food around here. We didn't go too fancy, as you can see in the pics, shrimp pad Thai, hot n sour soup and friend dumplings. The pad Thai is juicier than I like, but it was flavorful and fresh. I ordered takeout from Khoo for the first time and I wasn't expecting to rack up a high bill! This is an expensive spot for Chinese food but I do think it's yummy! The sesame chicken although very battered, was very flavorful and soft! The dumplings (steamed) were perfectly made and had a nice flavor to them. The beef terriyaki was flavorful and tender which I enjoyed. I think next time I'll eat in for the full experience of the food and the service, but overall, I'll go back to treat myself again! While I can't eat a lot of fried things anymore, Khoo offers a variety of traditional American Chinese food as well as Malaysian food. My go to is typically chicken lo mein. But I also really like their cucumber avocado rolls. The food is always fresh and hot. The owner Yen is such a nice guy. Whenever we go in he always greets us and will ask how everything is going. Right off the bat, I will tell you that I am somewhat of an American Chinese food addict ... and expert. In my home of Los Angeles, there are simply no good 'junk food styie' Chinese restaurants anywhere. Not like the ones on the East Coast anyways. Obviously, the style of food they serve here would be unidentifiable in actual China. However, in my opinion, there is no better or tastier food on the planet than good old fashioned American-style Chinese junk food. It seems hard to fuck up chicken fingers and fried rice ... but somehow restaurants do. Let me start by saying that this is the best Chinese food I've had in Rhode Island. That's not saying much as every place I've tried to date here ... Cathay Garden, Two Sisters, etc. has not been worth going back to. Massachusetts completely blows away almost any other place I've eaten Chinese food (other than NYC). Khoo doesn't even come close to Yong Shing, Kow Loon, etc. in Massachusetts. But it's edible ... and decent. I was a bit bummed out that they don't really have big combo platters here. You have the option for a big pu pu platter for $26 ... or $13 appetizer and fried rice plates. You can pay extra to add different things, which is good. I ordered the option with fried rice, 3 chicken fingers and 3 Crab Rangoon for $14. I added an egg roll for $2.50. Chicken fingers ... Good, not great. The chicken inside was a little overcooked and rubbery. The batter was crispy but not as light as I'd have liked. The places that use rice flower for a tempura-style batter are much better. The size of the chicken fingers was good but I could have used 1 or 2 more. Crab Rangoon ... This is make or break for a Chinese restaurant. If they don't have good crab Rangoon, I am not coming back. (Looking at you Two Sisters and Cathay Garden) These were rounded balls vs. the triangles with the filling in the center. I've only seen this style a few times and it is more like a fried dumpling. Having said that, they were decent. Not great but good. There was a good amount of cheese. It didn't have that sweet, creamy cheese taste with a little sharpness from the garlic. I tasted no pieces of actual crab ... it was pretty much cheese with a crab seasoning. I'd put these on par with grocery store Market Basket 's crab rangoons. Nothing special ... but not terrible. I still ate them all. Fried Rice ... Pork fried rice here was better than most. Not that many pieces of pork and no fried egg. However it had enough spy sauce to be flavourful. The rice was dark brown ... and not the oily, light brown garbage most places make in large batches and dish out. This tastes fresher. The best fried rice I've had in Rhode Island. Egg Roll ... Nothing special. Small. Mass produced. No meat in it ... cabbage filling was bland. I would not order this again herez though egg rolls are my favourite. I found it very tacky that they charge $.35 for house made hot mustard and $2 for house made duck sauce. Otherwise they give you the sealed packets of corporate condiments which suck incredibly. Good sauces make Chinese food ... it is not great to need to pay extra for them. Overall, this will be my go-to spot for takeout Chinese in RI, unless I find better. Modern, stylish Chinese/Malaysian joint with an interesting menu, with many wings options, many combo plate options, and for two dollars extra, you can upgrade to a dinner combo, which includes a larger serving of the entrée, plus an egg roll. Egg Rolls: Not that lengthy, but decent girth, nice golden shell with crispness, and a cornucopia of goodies inside. Great color, nice crunch and moisture, and strong flavors from the celery-heavy greenery, the pork, the pork glaze, and seasonings. This one checks all the boxes and with an indelible marker. Elite. Boneless Spareribs (on an appetizer combo): Slices and chunks of pork, with some crispness here and there, in a sweet sauce (wet, as opposed to a glaze). Not dry underneath, but all of the moistness came from the sauce. Flavor and feel took me back to Tony Roma's, circa 1988. Average. Beef Teriyaki (on the combo): Tough act to follow, coming on the heels of elite ones at Dragon Garden a bit to the north, but these had good tenderness despite being thin. More soy than sweet in the marinade and glaze. Above average. Khoo Wings (on the combo): Not wanting to commit to a full order of one of their specialty wings (several flavors from different cuisines), merely a trial here (3 pieces). Dark, sweet, and a bit salty/funky. Firm-not-crisp skins with moist inner meat. Average. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce: Lighter than standard sauce, with ripples of egg affecting color and texture. Strong flavor to the meat, whose primary component was salt. It kept reminding me of something, and then it hit me: supermarket vacuum-sealed, smoked peppered salmon off the rack (very near the deli counter if you shop Market Basket). It kept hitting me: salty, salmony, and exactly like that product. Not horrible, but certainly not what I wanted. The shrimp were firm and enjoyable enough, but even without the sauce had that same salty salmon flavor. A little below average (but might be great for the right person). Egg Foo Yong (on a dinner combo): Served with sauce on the side, and by virtue of going with the dinner combo, two patties/omelettes instead of one. Crisp exterior, tender interior, decent porkage, but nothing notable. Mild Sauce. A little above average. Pork Fried Rice (on the dinner combo): Bland and with the puffy feel of couscous. Minimal pork, minimal flavor. (Note that this wasn't their Malaysian fried rice, which I'd assess with a different perspective.) Below average. Egg Roll (on the dinner combo): Hey, why not another half each? A nice reprise. Here we have another one of those Chinese meals with some highs and some lows, but good atmosphere, very good value, and enough highs to make it enjoyable. I don't see Khoo joining my regular rotation, but a top 5 egg roll and a deep menu of wings, noodles, and Malaysian fare is worth a second look and periodic returns. read more

They do a lot of take out here and when we entered the host asked 'how can we help you' instead of 'good evening', or even 'welcome' followed by 'dining in or take out?'. The menu has all the expected foods like sweet & sour, fried rice, crab rangoon, scallion pancakes and so on. They also have poke bowls, noodle bowls, sishi and sashimi. So choices. Their Khoo roll comes with a side of wasibi, pickled ginger and soy sauce is on the table. The waitress brought chop sticks for my roll. The table is set with a fork, knife and water goblet. This is a very casual restaurant. Be sure to ask for exactly what you want. A glass for your bottled beer, more water, whatever. Service was good and our waitress very nice. Back again- and the flavors did not disappoint. We came to taste the must tries - indicated on the menu. The Loh Bak was crispy with a juicy - meatball like- shrimp and pork ball in the middle. A def must try. The Chicken satay was juicy and spiced just right The noodle CKT had a different umami flavor that was addicting. It was similar to a lo men however the meat and noodles ate a little dry. The black pepper steak had a nice crisp but the meat was a bit tough. But overall the food was good. The service was good too - they were friendly and attentive. And the ambiance gives off a local spot feeling. If you haven't tried this place yet it is a good option with many items. Everything from Poke bowls to sushi to Chinese staples to Malaysian - u can't go wrong. The daily specials are also worth the visit - so come and try especially Mon- Wed 5.99 appetizers. Okay, so I am a-ddicted to Khoo orange chicken!! They deliver! Lots of other items are also great, but this chicken, O M G! The past two times they got it wrong, the first one I got white meat and it was overdone so hard to chew, and the second, which was two days ago, was general tso chicken. I believe they didn't realize it though because it had orange slices, lol. With all of the perfect orange chicken and lovely in restaurant dining experiences over the years it was easy to forgive. Five Stars! An Absolute Gem in West Warwick! Khoo on Cowesett is hands-down one of the best spots I've had the pleasure of dining at in West Warwick! The beef teriyaki was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender, with a savory sauce that struck the perfect balance of flavor without being overpowering. The crab Rangoon was a standout too--crispy in all the right places with a rich, buttery filling that nailed the crab and cream cheese combo like no other. And let's talk about the spareribs--so juicy and flavorful, and you can really tell they use high-quality meat. No chewy, fatty ribs here--just pure goodness. I'm writing to share feedback about a recent visit to your restaurant on Thursday. First, I want to commend your staff--particularly the women working during my visit--who were professional and courteous to my party. The dining area appeared clean, though it was relatively empty at the time. Unfortunately, the quality of the food did not meet expectations, and I feel compelled to bring this to your attention. I ordered an appetizer and received it within five minutes. While prompt service is appreciated, the dish arrived lukewarm--not freshly cooked. It reminded me more of food court fare than restaurant-quality cuisine. My main dish, a noodle entrée, was overly saturated with oil and soy sauce, resulting in soggy noodles and a soup-like consistency. Another dish, the combination plate, featured rice that was dry and tasted as though it had been sitting out for hours. The Sweet & Sour "chicken" was mostly batter, with very little actual meat. The egg roll was not hot and you could tell it was either freezer burned or have been reheated multiple times. I get this quality food at take-out Chinese restaurants but don't expect it when I am coming in to sit-down. Is you main focus take-out and that is why the place was empty? I've visited your restaurant occasionally in the past, and I'd like to continue doing so. However, this experience has made me question whether your establishment is committed to offering quality dine-in service. I hope you'll take this feedback seriously and consider whether you want to be known as a true restaurant or simply a fast-food outlet. My girlfriend, and I recently ordered from Khoo Restaurant, on a recent weekend evening. I ordered Goreng Chicken noodle dish, which was good. I had mistakenly thought that it was the same as Indonesian Bah Mee Goreng, which has a drier sauce, whereas the Goreng Chicken I ordered had a much wetter sauce with more liquid involved -- with that said I did enjoy the dish, and its flavors a lot. I also ordered the Malaysian fried bread known at Roti Chanai, which I love, and have had also ordered approximately a dozen or more times before at the Boston MA Malaysian Restaurant called Penang. The Roti Chanai which is normally soft, puffy, and balloon-like, similar to an Indian bread whose name escapes me, at Khoo Restaurant came as a fried bread similar to a Scallion Pancake minus the scallions, which did in fact look much like the photo shown in the online menu -- I thought when ordering it would be perhaps slightly flattened fluffy Roti Chanai, but it was instead this Scallion Pancake akin bread, greasy, yet tasty fried bread. While tasty, it wasn'y really what I wanted. I came with a flavorful yet thin curry sauce, the remains of which I saved to eat with rice later. The curry sauce was translucent, almost transparent, slightly curry-colored, and there was no chicken discernable present, whereas the chicken curry sauce that Penang serves is a rich, thick, aromatic sauce, with large pieces of chicken in the sauce. Not a bad culinary experience at all, but not nearly as great as other Malaysian, and Indonesian food that I have experienced before. My girlfriend told me that she enjoyed her food, although I am no longer certain what items she ordered. I will probably order from this restaurant again, in the future. This is now my go-to Asian restaurant. Soups and noodles and sushi. All good food; this place has become one of my regular haunts.

Underwhelming. The Tom Yam was bland and Gen Tsos was soggy and cold. We ate in and the chicken tasted like it was sitting there for 10 minutes. Low standard kitchen on a FRIDAY NIGHT. Highlight of the night was the well spoken hardworking Bus Boy. Looking inside the restaurant I can see why the rating is inflated. Lots of locals who don't look like they leave Warwick much. oh my. so sad that our dining experience was not what all here speak of. My favorite food was the Nime Chow. It was the only thing I ate. Our dinners were sooo disappointing; fried rice: was it really? Pad Thai, the noodles were tasty - no other food on combination plate was eaten by any of us. Our waiter(s) were amazing; considerate, helpful, and quick when they had to be, and a quiet distance when it was evident we weren't quite ready for the next course. They MADE the dinner so much more enjoyable for us. Most disturbing for me: tables were sticky and I watched the waitstaff clean them as quickly as people left, thus --- - there is a sheen of sticky stuff most likely from attempts at redoing furnishings. Booths are comfortable but many had good sized tears that were not concealed in any way. NOT good. Menus were sticky. Doors were sticky and in our booth, small, white dust or something other.. were on the edges of the table falling from the window. It isn't pleasant to give a review with negative notations. I don't think you give up on places, or people especially. There is always opportunity for improvement for all of us. You folks work SO hard - we hope things might be better next time we stop in. I've been coming here for years and it's the most consistently good Chinese/ fusion restaurant around. The menu is large with someone for everyone. This is a place I can always take my GF or vegetarian friends as well. My favorite dishes are the roti canai, nime chow, and poke bowl, but everything I've tried has been good. The service is very friendly and efficient, and the space is large with lots of tables in the dining room and a decently sizes bar. Plenty of parking outside. When I moved to West Warwick, Khoo became my go-to Chinese takeout spot. I thought the food was pretty good and the prices were good too. The fried rice wasn't my favorite, but it was decent enough. I even ordered catering from Khoo for an event. In recent months though, I feel like the prices have increased significantly. I understand inflation is a real thing, but a combination plate that used to be $10, seemingly only a few months ago, will now run you $14 or more. An order of fried rice is $15!! I don't feel like it's really worth the price and I have definitely decreased the frequency of my visits because of this. I also noticed recently the prices are higher if you order online for pickup compared to the prices listed on the menu, even though you are placing the order directly to the website and not through a third party service like DoorDash or something. If you order anything fried I would be mindful since it's super greasy and soaked in oil. Desserts were mediocre at best. Ice cream brownie was super decadent and rich. I had been wanting to try Khoo for a while now, and recently ordered takeout for the first time (so can't comment on service or ambiance, just food). Overall I really enjoyed my meal! I thought the chicken curry puffs were very tasty and had a lot of flavor (though they seemed to be more veggie filled than chicken filled--still super delicious!). I also tried the chicken mee goreng which was excellent. It was less spicy than other mee goreng I've had in the past, but I still thought it was yummy. It had a generous amount of both chicken and fried tofu, but I would have enjoyed some other veggies added for color and texture. It was still delicious! I'd happily order it again. I was a little disappointed based on how glowing the reviews are. I got takeout which maybe affected the quality of my food but I was not impressed by Khoo Restaurant. The sushi was sloppily presented and made. The "vegetarian wontons" were literally just wanton skin with no filing. The dumplings and scallion pancakes were nothing special. I would maybe give them another shot but there are so many other spots that are more consistent. read more

Very comfortable seating. Our waitress was great! Very attentive. My friend and I were here for a girls night dinner. She lived her passion fruit martini. I got the green tea shots. They did not ship out on the alcohol!! We started with the shrimp tempura and steamed pork dumplings. The tempura was cooked perfectly. It was great not having over cooked shrimp. The dumplings had amazing flavor. I would like to see them thin out their dumpling dough a little though. Our main course was 4 different sushi rolls: snow angel, ninja, spider and fireball. None of which were disappointing at all. Definitely recommend and I will definitely be back here. There was a man and his son sitting behind us. They told us how much they enjoy the food here. First time there and our dinning experience was terrible. Wonton Soup, General Tao Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, and Spring Roll - that is a main stay of any Chinese Restaurant. The Wonton Soup was so salty we couldn't eat it. The General Tao Chicken was hard and dry, no amount of sauce could cover that up. The Pork Fried Rice had no taste all. Lastly the Spring Roll was dripping with grease. The table and menus were sticky, and the padded seats were torn. When we left the restaurant my hand stuck to the door - YUCK! Their spicy salmon roll is my favorite but I've also had the spicy tuna, sweet potato, and shrimp tempura rolls and they were all great.
