Holy Chopsticks, Batman, I'd wish I'd tried this place sooner! It looks like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, so I'd stayed away, even though I drive by there often. But, I tried them for lunch when another Chinese restaurant I'd planned to go to was closed on a Monday. When you judge a book by its cover, sometimes you miss out. I phoned my order in and the man said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Sure enough, my lunch was ready right when promised. When I went inside to pick it up, I felt like I'd stepped into a time machine set to 1960, given the paneling, decor and furniture. I really don't mean that as an insult. Unlike some other people who opine that the place could use updating or remodeling, I'm nostalgic and think it's cool that some things remain unchanged. Besides, when you put out some food as good as the food I had for lunch that day, who cares what the place looks like? And, the frosting on the proverbial cake was that my lunch only cost a tad over $8, even with the governor's money (sales tax). That's a bargain in these inflationary times. The husband and wife who own this place appeared rather elderly, but they get the job done; he made sure I didn't leave without utensils. My order consisted of sweet-and-sour chicken, fried rice and egg roll. First, the fried rice: I haven't had fried rice this good in more than 20 years, no joke, end of story. The chicken was equally good, with generous chunks, and both chicken and batter fried to the right consistency, alongside pineapple chunks, with delicious sweet and sour sauce in a separate container, perfect for dipping the chicken into. Even the egg roll was much higher quality than average. On most days, walking my Labrador retriever, Rosie-Roo, is the highlight of my day (and I tell her so). Today, however, my outstanding lunch from China Sea, eaten while overlooking Narragansett Bay from the balcony of a vacant condo I was doing plumbing work in, easily wrested the highlight of the day spot from Rosie (please don't tell her, okay?).

Not as bad as some of the other reviews portray. It gets the job done. Food was hot and portions were large for the price.

Han Palace is one of those places that you bring the family to every week, and they too have a die hard following in the community. And for good reason! You can find Keith there every day, always on the move. When I went, he was the one who took us to our table. I couldn't help by admire the art etched into the glass dividers in the restaurant, and the high backs to the booths allow you an intimate experience with your dining companion/s. While he was camera shy and didn't want to be in a photo (which I can respect) he was more than eager to share his thoughts on his crab rangoon! I mentioned he has quite the fan base for the appetizer and he shared with me that he workshopped his recipe for a bit before settling on what he serves today. For him, he doesn't like a strong fishy taste. Keith also freely shared his secret touches, white pepper and scallions. A note I will remember next time I make my own. When asked for a staff recommendation for what to have with our rangoon, the server suggested the General Tso's Chicken, one of their most popular dishes. Before long the food arrived and I was excited to see what the hype was all about. On first bite, what you immediately notice is these are GENEROUS on the filling. If you like a fat rangoon, this is going to be right up your alley. The taste is cream cheese forward, with the kani and scallions supporting characters to bring it all together. A small warning, be careful how you bite into these, the filling can squirt out!! Normally, I am the type to roll my eyes at ordering General Tso at a Chinese restaurant. It's like the Chicken Tikka Masala of Chinese food. However! I see why this is popular. The chicken was fresh, the slightly crispy texture holding up in the sauce. The sauce was tangy, just the right amount to evenly coat the chicken with some extra for the rice and a level of heat between mild and medium. The rice was a savory hearty base for the chicken. My quest for the best crab rangoon in Rhode Island brings me to the best places. I'm glad to have discovered this community icon, and look forward to my next visit!

We went for lunch so it was not super busy; we were maybe one of two patrons inside. It was nicely decorated, and there was a TV above our table playing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. What a good movie! They served wonton chips with duck sauce, like chips and salsa. What a nice touch! I have never seen that before at an Asian restaurant. We ordered some general Tso's chicken and then one of sushi lunch specials, which came with two rolls and either a soup or salad. I chose the salad, which is like the ones you get at hibachi. It was drowning in that orange tangy sauce, but it was still good! The sushi was good, too. Not the best I have ever had, but still good. The whole meal was perhaps $25. That's crazy for the amount of food we got! Highly recommend.

My first trip was to Islander The inside of the Islander is gorgeous, ornate decorations tastefully spaced to create texture and visual appeal. The mother and daughter duo who served us were long time employees of the business. I was told that they had three generations of their family work as front of house staff there. Most of the employees were there for the long haul, a sign if thoughtful and caring ownership. A foreshadowing to when I met the owner later. We ordered the crab rangoon and our server mentioned she would send out a scallion pancake and some salt and pepper spicy wings for us to try. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive. The appetizers all looked beautiful and we couldn't wait to try them. The rangoon were delicious. Creamy, a nice proportion of kani with a hint of onion in the background. What I really liked about them was the purse shape. The fried edges had the kind of crispiness that shattered when you bit into it. The scallion pancakes were flaky and tasty. The wings were a good kind of heat, some spice but it never overwhelmed. The banana peppers added a little acidity that took it over the top. And when we thought that was all, two more dishes came out! The Islander fried rice and the Peking Beef. Both were great but my favorite of the two was the beef. The beef was so tender, the sauce was savory, meaty and loaded with veggies like baby bok choy, snow peas and baby corn. At this point, Simon the owner came by and spoke to our table. I had so many questions for him and he was kind enough to answer all of them. I couldn't thank him enough for his kindness and generosity. He was genuinely so sweet. He even sent us home with another order of rangoon and the house wings. I hadn't been to many restaurants in this part of Warwick but I highly recommend you make the trip to come and dine here. I started off with the single size scorpion bowl; it was strong and delicious. We shared crab rangoons, which were up there with one of my favorites; it was 5 stars alone. For my meal, I had the appetizer combo which comes with boneless spare ribs, Islander wings, teriyaki, and pork fried rice. My favorites were the Islander wings, it was in a sticky dark sauce that was sweet and the wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The space ribs were decent and my least favorite were the teriyaki sticks; it lacked some flavor. Overall, food, drinks, and ambiance, I would give them 4.5 stars total.
