Used bite squad for delivery which was good but what wasnt good is all the bones in my duck ramen. I should of took pictures of it but all the meat had small little bone slivers connected to it. The food was a bit disappointing and mediocre. I had a seafood ramen. The broth seemed to be a beef broth and the seafood was largely a mix of shrimp and cooked salmon. The ramen noodles appeared similar to microwaveable ramen. My server was nice and unbenownced to me told me there was a free refill on the sake I had ordered. read more

Red Ginger can be kind of hit or miss for me but is still probably one of my preferred sushi spots. I usually get delivery through DoorDash but I visit the restaurant occasionally too. There have been a few times where the food was just underwhelming. There are times I've had it where it was the opposite. The quality of the food is just kind of inconsistent, it seems. I've never had bad service here and the appetizers are always on point. I really enjoy the shrimp tempura supreme roll and their chicken fried rice. Despite it not always being my favorite, I am curious to try some of their other options. read more

The restaurant is clean. Never been very busy when I have been there. Prices are average for sushi houses in the area. Pretty extensive menu with plenty of non-sushi options. An okay place but not as good as the nearby Sushi House which in my opinion has the best sushi in the area. read more

Excellent Japanese food. Red Ginger has a lot of great competition for the Asian market in Cedar Rapids. If we discount the buffets, there is a good selection of Japanese, Thai, and general Asian restaurants. and I do not even take into account the numerous locations in Iowa City. But Red Ginger is something special. It is first Japanese restaurant that I have visited that truely duplicates the taste and style of finely prepared Japanese food in Japan and in several large American cities. I hope that the restaurant does not adapt its food too much to American taste preferences because it is perfect as it is. Highly recommended. read more

We've been wanting to try Red Ginger since it opened... So glad we finally did!! All 3 of us had the onion soup, which was very good. I had been afraid it might be heavily salted, but it was not. We also had their house salad with ginger dressing, which was surprisingly mild. We shared an order of Rocky Shrimp, and all agreed it was delicious. Our friend had the shrimp teriyaki, my husband had the steak with udon noodles, and I had the vegetable and tofu teriyaki. We all agreed our food was well seasoned and tasty. The service was prompt and discreet, with our salad and soup appearing at the table within 5 minutes. For those who remember when Genghis Grill occupied this space, you will be pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor. This is an inviting, peaceful place to enjoy a delicious meal at a good price. read more

I'll make this simple. Tasteless. My daughter got the duck ramen and it was poor. I had the chicken teriyaki which was also a major let down. We did get two sushi rolls and they were decent. So If you do go I would stick to the sushi or just go over to the sushi house. I will say our server was great! There were only two ladies running the tables and she worked her ass off. She was attentive considering the madness so I left her a nice trip. I might try it again on a different night but so far disappointed. read more

Me and my boyfriend love sushi, so we've been trying out new places in Cedar Rapids. This place was by far the worst we've tried so far. The rolls came out looking extremely questionable. Food is mediocre at best. The broth in the ramen tasted like dirty dishwater. Our server recommended the ramen and said it was the best in town. I think it is the only ramen she has ever eaten outside of those dried noodles. The crab rangoons were slightly sweet and reminded me of HyVee crab rangoons - not my preference. The sushi was decent, but I can think of 3 restaurants in town with better. Our server was nice and kept our drinks full, but service was waaay too fast. She asked us what we wanted to drink before either of us were sitting down - weird. And we literally had about two bites of our appetizers before the entrees were on the table. It felt rushed and weird. The decor was lovely. I will not return due to the food. And I will mot recommend this place. read more

We tried CR Red Ginger due to several great experiences at the Coralville location, sadly a completely different experience. We walked in and it took a while to be greeted and seated. Once seated it was about 15 minutes before our waiter showed up and took our drink and dinner orders. The waiter was obviously hurried and not very friendly. We tried the sexy jalapeño appetizer and while the filling was good they had cut way to much off the jalapeño making it taste more like a green pepper. Our daughter had a rainbow roll that was lacking flavor, something seemed missing. The rest of her sushi tasted good. My husband tried the beef teriyaki and thought it was very good. I had the steak yaki udon and found it lacking and depth or flavor. I think they may have forgot to add any sauce to my dish. The ginger dressing on our salads was delicious, actually was the best thing that night. The onion soup was nothing notable. Waiter didn't bring refills in a timely fashion, even after reminding him. Probably won't return to the Cedar Rapids location. read more

Wow, This is a phenomenal, beautiful, clean & fresh sushi bar! The Ramen is delicious and authentic- the chicken katsu one takes me back to the ramen I had while stationed in Oki. Their special rolls list is huge, but the servers help with recommendations. Entrees come with soup & salad. I also saw lunch does too, some places come with one or the other.
