I was back at The Hip-Stir last night to celebrate a family event. We made a reservation for 6 and sat at a table near the front. The vibe of Hip-Stir ha always been cool and kinda niche and this was no exception. If you don't know that they changed up their menu.. they did. It's not bad by any means, but I am pretty heartbroken about them removing the Spinach Artichoke dip. It was the best around and I'll be overjoyed when it returns. The new menu still features ramen, sandwiches and other yummy dishes. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese with my entree and the food was out in about 20 minutes which is great! Unfortunately my Mac and cheese was forgotten- our server apologized and went to "get that started", no worries. The next time our server was at our table I inquired about it again since it had been about 10 minutes, but she had forgotten yet again. She rushed back to "get it started", ok. At this point everyone was getting full and I didn't even want it anymore, but she returned a few minutes later with it. A little frustrating. The ramen has changed, unfortunately. My sister ordered the spicy pork (which has historically been amazing) and didn't even finish it, which is pretty weird for her lol. I tasted nothing but soy sauce and spice. I'm not sure where the aromatics went, but they need to bring them back asap. Don't order the carrot cake. It was served over coffee (yes, hot coffee) which ruined it. The cake was overly soggy and tasted of nothing but the coffee flavor. I'm sure it would have been great without it, the frosting looked great. I'll probably be back and love supporting the Fun not Fancy group in CR, but last night was a miss. read more

This is the second NYE we have spent at The Hip Stir. The service is great, ambiance is great and the food is unique a d great as well. We had a party of 10 and we all ordered different things. My husband and I got the cheese curds. The honey Lemon aioli was a legit surprise and was SO good. My husband got salmon and loved the vinegrette salad dressing. I got the chicken marsala gnocchi. It was rich and salty and delicious. I've never had anything quite like it. I also enjoyed being able to enjoy the Tinsel pop up decorations as well. read more

Great holiday atmosphere (Dec '25) and the service was good. My friend and I tried the relish plate, and then I had the savory beef ramen and my friend had the chicken Marsala gnocchi. They serve some bread and spread at the table as well that was tasty. The relish tray was good but didn't really care for the deviled eggs. My ramen was decent but really salty. And the gnocchi was ok but also too salty. I'd give this place another shot maybe but would probably try something else instead. read more

I don't give a 1 star lightly but what once was my favorite restaurant has gone downhill fast. My most recent Togo order was missing dipping sauce and the bread I ordered was cold uncooked pieces of something. Basically couldn't eat anything. First time here and I'll be back again soon. Enjoyed our dinner start to finish. The staff was fast and friendly. The decor is not easily described but it is randomly fun with exposed brick, barrel booths, doors on the ceiling, etc. The lighting however stood out among this, creating a warm atmosphere. As far as the meals were concerned, my friend enjoyed his salmon curry rice bowl so much so that he would come back soon and have it again. He had a mixed drink during their happy hour specials. I ordered the smash burger, the two patties had American cheese on them and sat on a warm, fresh brioche bun. The bun was in a demi glaze sauce (I ate it with a fork) and it had a terrifically tangy tartar sauce. Whoever does the sauces in this place deserves a medal - the glaze and tartar are wipe your plate with a roll to get every last drop, good. I had Mac and cheese as a side, white cheddar, it had a nice flavor and the noodles were cooked properly. The cheese was a little more liquid than gooey but that's a personal preference. I had a fountain root beer so nothing special there. Given the ambiance of the place I expected a craft or bottled root beer but that's neither here nor there. Was recommended by the salon next door modern valley hair co, that I Must try the buffalo wings, got a lovely sit at the bar and order just that and let me say they are one of the best buffalo wings I've ever had, they are not your traditional Buffalo wings, 1lb bone-in wings honey buffalo sauce, togarashi, tajin, cucumber. So much flavor in every bite and loved it was kind of like a dry rub my sticky. The services was fantastic and I hope they keep the Christmas lights up on the bar. read more

It was a slow Tuesday but the service was pleasant and everyone was very nice and service was quick. We didn't wait more than 10 mins for our food to get to us. Every time I go here I walk away happy. The servers are always so friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance is great - the barrels and motorcycle make it eclectic and fun. The bar is open but the barrels can give you privacy. The food never disappoints. There seems to always be unique specials and the classics on the menu are great too. read more

They are busy, was my first impression, that is why the service was so slow. Luckily I was able to overlook this because everything else was very good. I had a udon noodle dish that was really good, not overly spicy and the burgers looked good. The breaded chicken looked a little odd and I was told it was ok but not fantastic. The inside was dim but not too dark and seating was spread out enough as to not feel crowded. Even the bar was pleasant with a few tables ordering food that did not disrupt the people at the bar. The bar tender was really friendly and chatty. We had a couple good drinks that were special to this location, we highly recommend trying some out. First time and probably our last time. Decided to try some place new for my birthday dinner. We were a family of 6 with two children 5 and under. The food was pretty good, the waitress was kind, but also very busy. When we told the waitress about my birthday I received a free dessert, so that was nice. The big bummer was when we paid the credit card was ran and I handed the waitress a cash tip. After she got her tip we noticed that gratuity was added already and the waitress hadn't mentioned the gratuity. I was surprised that she didn't say anything and that there was no clear notice that a party of 6 would automatically have gratuity added to the bill. We did talk with the waitress and she returned the cash tip, but just want others to be aware of their gratuity policy. read more

In a word...eclectic! Interesting decor and a small yet diverse menu. The smashburger was delicious-messy (or maybe that was just us) but didn't fall apart. The cheesesteak was fabulous-the meat was tender,onions and peppers where perfect, toasted bun and that cheese-YUM! We didn't try drinks or dessert but will definitely be back soon. Went with some friends for New Years Eve. I was expecting the normal iffy food and so so service you usually find on a big night for fining out. Boy was I wrong! We were a group of 7 and had a small side room to ourselves. The waitress was exceptional. Great service, super friendly, and very helpful. My friend had a lemon drop martini that was not very good, but the waitress went and made a proper one herself. We shared appetizers. I was afraid the cajun shrimp would be too spicy, but but it was delicious. Ee also had the baked cheese and steamed buns. Everything was so good. I ordered the lobster and shrimp cheese Ramen. Hip-Stir feels to me like a quintessential Marion Uptown bar. It's stylish and trendy, with a rotating menu of food and cocktails. Some of the dishes are more unique, but you'll find the usual bar staples classed up a bit. Its quickly become a usual stop in our going out options, especially to see our favorite bartender. Highly recommend checking out this cool local spot, but maybe carpool with your friends because Uptown parking can be limited. read more

I've been to the Hip-Stir twice now and I've had a great time. The drinks are unique and delicious! The bartender is great about answering questions and explaining the flavors of the libations and how they work with each other. I love the atmosphere, decor, and music. The bar is inviting and comfortable. I had a dessert the last time I was there and it was amazing. I expect to order more food next time I'm there and can't wait to sit at the barrel tables. I'd heard about the Hip-stir from another Yelper a few months back and finally made it over to check it out. Walking in, you're greeted by a really cool decor - round doorways and booths, doors on the ceiling, stained-glass lamps hanging from the ceiling. The lighting is warm and cozy, a great vibe that brings you in. My friend and I sat at the bar to have drinks. The bartender was attentive, gave us a lay of the land on the cocktail menu, asking about our tastes to guide us. We loved everything we ordered: Drinks: Late to Date cocktail (nice and slightly Smokey flavor) Menu: Pork belly steam buns (must like spicy) Le Shmashburger with house chips (demolished before a pic) Lemongrass miso crème brûlée (perfect size after a big dinner!) This place is a true experience! I am visiting from out of town and we were told this place is the new hot-spot in downtown. It feels like walking into a speakeasy with a fun mix of decor. Interesting cocktail menu with a good mix of different liquors to accommodate what you might be craving. Delicious food easy to share, and I cannot recommend the bougie waffle fries enough! Decore is beautiful and cosey with warm lighting. Definitely a good place on a winter night to have cocktails with some friends. Service was great and the restrooms we're clean. I would really like to give them a better review but the food was not on the level I was hoping for. The lobster ramen was lacking lobster, noodles and had a bit to many jalapenos. The Steak Frites was a pretty tough with a strong viniger flavor. Wings were pretty tasty but a bit over cooked. I felt it was a bit pricey for the food we got and I wish the menu was a little more descriptive. All and all we will try it again. The ambiance is wonderful! It felt very comfortable.
