Ordered wings they were small, and overcooked and dry.

Ordered wings they were small, and overcooked and dry. Was going to order hamburger and fries but did not. Ordered app sampler but the fried items (onion rings, mozzarella stick, mushroom and cauliflower) tasted burnt. So we left. Will not be back.

Tenderloin. Was very good and filling.

When I come in to Cedar Rapids I will stop into this place half the time. It is on the west side. They have a full menu. Everything is good from breakfast to dinner. There cook does a good job. Service has been good and friendly. Drinks are cheap. They have a mini pitcher for 3.50. Which comes out to be like 1.25 a mug. I came into town last night and ordered Nicks roast beef Sub that has Nacho cheese sauce on it. With a bunch of other toppings. Which I thought was really good. The place has a juke box, plenty of tv's, plenty of seating, some video games. I noticed Gail stated that she would not feel comfortable coming by her self. The outside might look a little rough for an out of towner. The inside has been updated. During the morning and day it is fine. At night the crowd might look a little rougher, blue collar, tattoos, regulars, etc. Everybody keeps to themselves. It's a family establishment.

16" large pizza with crispy crust

The old Chuck's (Chuck & Dales) is now Nick's Bar & Grill. They've updated the menu with some new recipes. Their ads say they grind their own hamburger. That would be a big upgrade from the frozen patties Chuck's used to serve. We've had the pizza twice and I think its improved with the new owner, although I'm not a fan of the dry seasoning they sprinkle over the top as it dominates the flavor of the pizza. The thin crust is plenty crispy and well topped. The soft breadsticks are awesome. They actually put them in the fryer for a short time to finish them, but not at all greasy. Get the pizza special, a 16" two-topping, with breadsticks and a full size pitcher of beer or pop for $22. We hope to try the burgers next time.

    Leftovers! Wow, definitely worth it!

Stopped in for a drink. No one would serve me. (I was a totally sober 74 year old man, normally dressed, wanting an afternoon drink.)

Great Ruben, good and hot. I had it with a side salad, blue cheese and French dressing. Most places don't have one or the other.

Picked the Tenderloin since it says homemade.. Taste just like a frozen tenderloin. Good service.

Great drinks and affordable specials, but the food needs work. Their fired foods always taste like they've been cooked in old oil.

I wanted a good, real burger so on the recommendation of a co-worker I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries to go.

Also, the food he said coming from Sam's club- again never experienced that and I supposed it depends on what you order - like chicken tenders or other pre made items. I would suggest that you go for breakfast. They make stellar breakfasts, and i highly suggest some type of omelette. You will get a very large omelette, stuffed with ingredients. I have ordered the spinach and mushroom, as well as the veggie omelette and both were outstanding. You also get a hearty portion of american fries or hashbrowns on the side AND a side of toast. I have subsituted a pancake for toast and it cost me an extra $1. Oh and the omelette was $5.75! We have been everywhere for breakfast and you cannot buy an omelette for $5.75 and still get that large of a portion. Coffee is bottomless and delicious! And they serve breakfast all day! who can beat that. It's a cozy spot - hard working folks that run it - recommend it highly for breakfast fare!

I knew I had to try it on a recent visit back home. My experience was mixed. The excellent: our table service was next level with each dish being thoroughly explained. We were educated on the thought process behind each wine pairing as well. Between each course our table was cleaned and we were presented with fresh silverware. The great: the food was presented beautifully and our meal looked incredibly impressive. The interior definitely invoked the Brooklyn vibes that inspired the restaurant in the first place. It feels very upscale hipster. The disappointing: though the overall experience was tasty and texturally perfect, each dish we tried had some overpowering element and flavors were not balanced. After the tuna crudo all I could taste was celery, after the morel mushroom pasta all I could taste were the pungent chive blossoms, and the trout skin/asparagus were over-grilled and I felt like I was eating a well prepared charcoal briquette. Maybe I'll give this place another try next time I'm in town and hope the flavors make as much sense as the rest of the experience.

However, I was surprised on one dish for missing the mark this round unfortunately. For only being here once though and they change up their menu seasonal, I'm hopeful their 'too salty' dishes are few and far between. The service was good as they were knowledgeable on menu items. The ambiance was moody. They also have a wonderful bar area with a large upscale selection of drinks. Bathrooms were nice and it's great to view the kitchen working away in the back area. Now for more food details. The group had the 5 course offering. Highly recommend the steak tartar as it was the groups favorite - "the Midwest's poke bowl" . The least favorite was the scallop dish as it was way too salty it overpowered the flavor profile and was bitter. The agnolotti pasta, pork belly, and banana assortment dessert were delectable.
