I love a good dive bar. This place may be the perfect dive bar. I absolutely loved it. Great layout with bar seating and dining seating spread throughout the facility. Clean bathrooms, entertaining decor and the service was terrific. Great variety of beers. And the food while just "dive bar food" according to the owner was both creative and excellent. We tried a variety of stuff and everything we tried was awesome. The owner Cale stopped by and had a decent conversation with us. Great guy shortly after his wife stopped by and couldn't be more friendly. I can't say enough about this place. If you're in the area, it's a must see! I was in the area for a couple of days and tried to go back the next day, but it was Wall the wall packed so we moved onto another place that didn't nearly live up to this one. This place is so unique from the decor to the food to the service! Everything we had was delicious but some stand outs were the broccoli cheese soup, the buffalo chicken dip and the crunch-a-dilla. Our server Carly was wonderful, we had a large group and she took excellent care of us. read more

Wasn't expecting to end up here this evening, but sure glad we did. It was a Saturday night with lots of events going on downtown and we finally found a place that could accommodate us. I wasntbterribly hungry so I ordered the broccoli cheese bread bowl. Wow am I glad I did. Unlike most bread bowl soups, this wasn't 80% bread bowl with a little soup. They had virtually taken most of the great put and left the perfectly crisly outer crust with a very nice portion of soup. I actually for once aye the entire thing since it wasn't just a lot of bland bread. The group I was with all raved about their food. Gotta go back and explore the menu some more read more

Interesting group of items on the menu here, some of them quite unique so you nay have trouble finding the right meal for you. I had the Flatbread that resembled a Navajo Taco, I don't remember what they called it. The only thing that made it not up to snuff is that the flatbread was a but over cooked, even with a knife it was hard to cut. Service was friendly, and our food came out quick. read more

Best food in Cedar Rapids! I recommend you start off with the SPAM fries they are to die for. Get a shot of their Apple Pie drink, and you will be in Heaven. Grab a bottle on your way out cause you will never taste anything like that again. The waitstaff are friendly, and they know the menu, so if you have any questions, they can answer them. The chef makes everything from fresh and is really detailed oriented. Your plate always looks like a masterpiece. I truly didn't expect this dive bar to live in Cedar Rapids-- but I am so glad Cliff moved it. I popped in Cliff's Dive Bar & Grill on a Tuesday for lunch. The menu is like nothing else in town with munchies like tator tatchoes and pinwheels. There's a duo of quesadillas and flatbreads along with a handful of sandwiches, some shit on shingle options (lol), soup, salad, bread bowls and other random dive fair. I elected for the Eddie's Love -- a corned beef hash mac n cheese. While it hit the spot-- I was kind of disappointed the corned beef hash was out of a can. Though, in hindsight, I suppose it goes along with the whole 'dive bar' vibe. The decor is rad, the service is quick, pricing seems on point-- they have happy hour specials on the daily and the cocktail menu looked sublime. I will say-- we were there five minutes before they opened and it was quite cold out. A staff member let in a delivery and saw us freezing on the corner. She told us they weren't open for five more minutes and shut the door in our face, rather then letting us stand in the foyer until they were ready. I found it odd. All in all -- if you're hankering shit on a shingle, spam or spicy hot Cheetos -- Cliff is serving them up on the daily (11-2AM). Pop on in. read more

This is a good place and fits a nice niche in Cedar Rapids. It's very nice but still has a bit of a divey vibe with the menu and beer list. Cool decor and very chill. Seemed like a popular happy hour spot. We went for an early dinner. I dug the menu - if you are a foody snob, you may not. Our group had pizza grill cheese, the puffy taco thing, and a wrap. Service was superb and we got food very fast! Portions are LARGE! A nice change these days. Will go back to catch some live music and to try other menu items. Reasonable prices. Downtown parking is the only downside and that's not a huge deal. Glad this place is here. Probably closer to a 4.5/5. read more

My boyfriend took me to Cliff's Dive Bar & Grill on one of our date nights. I just loved the awesome and cool decor throughout the restaurant. We were seated right away and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Broc-Cheese Bread Bowl with Soup with side salad and it all tasted delicious. My boyfriend ordered The Love and once he added BBQ sauce to it, he said it tasted great. We chatted a lot about the unique decor inside of Cliff's Dive Bar & Grill. Took a group of 4 out to the Cliffs. Found out at ordering time that there's a 4% convenience charge if you use a credit card. Ordered boneless chicken wings, and they were more breading than chicken. The 2 for 1 - happy hour Blue Moon's had a $1 up charge that no one told us about. The sandwich that I ordered had one side included so I ordered fries , to find out afterwards there was a $2.50 up charge! So $2 extra for the Blue moon $2.50 extra for the free side And $3.75 for using my charge card As I did not have cash on me So there was a additional $8.25 in fees that where not disclosed as we ordered . read more

There is nothing about this bar that even closely resembles a dive bar. These folks missed the mark so hard that I'm still confused and my head is spinning. While talking to the bartender, who was nice but a bit slow with drinks, she informed me that it's a "themed" dive bar. Record scratch - just no. It's a bar that looks like a TGI Fridays complete with people in suits, no personality, and high priced micro brews. To those of us who travel, know, and understand real dive bars this is a disgrace; A Frankenstein's monster of epic proportions. The bar itself isn't bad. The bar is clean, well organized, and the beers I tried were ok but nothing special - so there's a strike. The service is slow with only a 1/4 full bar - so there's the other strike. The happy hour deal which is two for one is pretty decent, otherwise I wouldn't pay 6+ for these beers. In conclusion, if you are looking for a dive this isn't it - not even close. It's what the owners thought a dive bar is if they were to never have stepped in one. read more

Went on a Saturday about 4pm. It was happy hour and they had 2 4 1 drinks on almost everything. Ordered a rum & coke and received two heavy drinks. Most places pour light when there are specials, not this place. We had a concert so ordered a bunch of appetizers as we didn't want anything to sit heavy in our stomach or kill our buzz. We ordered the fried baby corn elote, the pinwheel, and Anna's special. The corn was phenomenal, melt in your mouth delicious. The pinwheel was unique and the flavors blended together well. I was not a fan of the Anna's special meatloaf but others at our table enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this place for a good drink & meal. Other food rolling out of the kitchen looked delicious. Service needed a little work but given staffing issues & it being a busy Saturday it was expected. read more

Went in here this past weekend, ordered one drink. Just more than $5 I left a small tip. When I checked my bank account I was charged triple that. When I called the manager told me my card was not ran at all, which was false as I had been charged. When calling the manager not only did not recognize the mistake, he acted upset that I even questioned it. After that I talked to some more people and this had happened to them as well. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, terrible customer service, tries to pull quick ones on people, overcharges, rude when questioned about anything even when they are in wrong. read more

Power hungry red headed manager with earrings!! Must of just got promoted, took 2 real out of state ID's, sent his waitress to address the issue. We then asked to speak the the manger that took our IDs with no explanation. Then comes over shaking and pointing out things on the Tennessee lincese then proceeds to say the ID is used for theater/acting . (this all seems like a joke, but this is how uneducated this man was) After the police were called and the IDs were confirmed valid. Then proceeded to not apologize for his tone or actions. Very unprofessional and a complete moron. If you give your employees the right to take IDs please educate them on every out of state ID available. read more

I (22 year old female from NY) was at this bar with my friend (22 year old male from PA) after hearing the song 'The Git Up'' I said to him 'do you remember the dance that went to this song like in high school' - The bartender (long blonde hair mean woman) decided that meant that me and my friend were underage and from Iowa and in high school. She told us after what we said it was clear we were underage - and even after us offering to wait for the police to come check out IDs she took our drinks and told us to 'not come back with our fake f*cking IDs' Awful experience. One of the best spots for some crazy good food and cold beers. The decor and vibe in this place is top notch! 100% would highly recommend!
