    Pork belly

The restaurant nice the server was very knowledgeable and the menu was complex. But the delivery was missing flavor . The farm to table concept is cool. The plates look beautiful. But the food lacks flavor. The bar was beautiful and the drinks were very good. The food could use more seasoning . They have a small menu I expected better execution . I ordered the duck I was actually expecting duck breast for the price. I got thighs but I wa open minded the veggie balls were gross the glaze was delicious. We had the civeche as a starter it was a little off was not as fresh as I would expect . The concept is coll the flavor is lacking. My wife had the pork belly it was good . It was braised instead of fried wich was intreasting . It was complex the was sauce was very good .

Phenomenal service and ambiance! I loved all of the dishes but for the price I did feel like the proportions or number of courses could have been grander. It was also 2 of my best friends birthday and they could have done something extra for the special occasion to stand out. But overall for lowa this was a great experience ! The tasting menu and wine pairing were so good!

Raw oysters. My only regret is I didn't get a dozen.

Back again. Dinner and a show. So sorry about that. I did not finish the review from the last time we're here. Came in to Cobell Hill again because it's our number one choice in Cedar rapids. I'll try to get a few pictures of the meal this time but if you haven't been here you should certainly try it out you won't be disappointed. Regarding the Bar today, Steve and Seth were doing their magic. Service is always outstanding. The ambience you can't do any better than Cobble hill. Ambience here is outstanding as Peggy point out to me she loves the brick walls are something to die for. But at the end of the day, the team is what makes Cobble Hill my number one choice in Cedar Rapids Whoops, I said that twice. If you haven't been here. You definitely need to put this on your punch list. Plan on spending at least two hours. Try to avoid it on Paramount nights. Carrie and Andy will do and a great job of making you feel at home.

Came here with our friends and were absolutely blown away by their food and drinks! Hands down, one of the best meals we've had in the state since moving to Iowa. We were staying in Iowa City for the weekend and were thrilled to try Cobble Hill. We ordered their Charcuterie, sourdough, Carpaccio, and Crudo to share and everything was delicious. I got the Pork and hubby got the Artic Char and both were very tasty -- especially the pork! We usually get steak entrees but we were so glad we tried these ones as they were cooked so well and with such unique flavors. Our cocktails were also very well balanced and refreshing. Dessert was also very good -- we got the 100 Layer Apple Cake and the Black Forrest Cake, loved both. I think if I would choose between the two, I'd go for the Black Forrest. The vibe is very cozy and romantic in here. And our server, Tyson did a phenomenal job. She made our night very memorable and we enjoyed dining with Cobble Hill and will definitely be back soon.

Cobble Hill is my favorite restaurant in the city. A great fusion of foods with local available ingredients. The presentation and attention to the food is second to none. The menu changes according to what's available. And they never disappoint...

What can I say, I'm visiting from California and I consider myself a foodie, and this place knocks it out the park. Definitely giving California restaurants a run for their money. I would consider this place New American with a touch of gastronomy; for example the olive oil cake with Meyers lemon was so moist it was more like a mousse, but you could tell it was cake just to give an example, that's the gastronomy side. The oysters, my wife's first time having them, loved it. The West Coast tasted just like the ocean where we live, the East Coast were sweet and fruity. No complaints at all with the food. Now our server Dion was on point engaging conversation with us answering all our questions, breaking down what was going to be served. Top notch in all. I dropped $210 ( tip included) on dinner and the way I rate restaurants, does the food justify the price, all I can say is I underpaid for the quality of food and creativity of how good it was. I could have paid more and it still would have been worth it. you won't be disappointed coming here. The ambiance is amazing, music is not too loud, nobody's being foolish with drinks, everybody's just having a good dinner, good conversation, and a really good time. The staff is amazing. seriously, Cobble Hill could be a standard for many restaurants to succeed, and the plating artistic. Everything was amazing, no complaints, it was an experience, not just a sit down and eating restaurant. It was a wonderful, great experience. Thank you so much for making our dinner amazing.

I was visiting a friend and she treated us to a special dinner out here. She and I split a bottle of their fancy non-alcoholic sparkling tea. The hibiscus and blackberry notes paired with the light effervescence were lovely. We were a table of four, allowing us to share several dishes. The glazed carrots were excellent. The scallop crudo was perfectly prepared. Usually, I really enjoy gemelli and beets. Unfortunately, this dish did nothing for me, though it was visually striking. The pork belly with braised cabbage was an excellent choice. The bibimbap with compressed Asian Pear was incredibly complex and so delicious. Unfortunately, the tortellini was not portioned for us to share easily. The chocolate dessert was outstanding, but the Earl Grey tea ice cream was transcendent! The space is lovely and never got too loud, even though they were quite busy. Sadly, they were hosting a larger group that evening. That seemed to negatively impact our service. We waited for long periods several times throughout the meal: between seating and ordering, after ordering and receiving any food, after our main course and being asked if we would like dessert. This poor service definitely detracted from my experience at the restaurant.

This place has beautiful decor and a coat check at the door! The bar is inviting as well as the seating. The food is all farm to table so the menu changes depending on when you go. We got a seasonal butternut squash soup. This soup was packed with spices and very memorable. We both enjoyed our meals and finished with a delicious dessert. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

Great sear on halibut, and paper thin sourdough crustini I'm thinking they ran it through a deli slicer to do that.

Farm to table, flown in seafood, solid teamwork in the kitchen from the view at the chefs counter. Recipes were solid, flavors enjoyable. Presentations were first rate. I started with a grilled shrimo appetizer which had a great combo of flavors including a house made xo sauce and spiced peanut mixture. Moving on to a second course of rice noodles with lamb, the spiced peanuts were part of the flavors again, and actually id say they were a even better match against the savory lamb flavors, but it might have been nice for it not to have felt like the reuse of the ingredients. I enjoyed the halibut over bouillabaisse it had an excellent broth and level of seasoning with nicely seared portion of fish. Strawberry compote under panna cotta with poached rhubarb was very nice. Wines by the glass were very reasonably priced, and staff was knowledgeable, overall best meal I had visiting cedar rapids. Total cost of $150 before gratuity for one person. I was starving and ate more than a normal person would so for a typical date night two top- Id say $100/ person would do it for a great experience without skipping anything.

We had an exceptional meal here at Cobble Hill. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. We were here on business and looking for something different and not a chain. Actually, it seems this is a popular place for business dinners as we saw others conducting meetings over dinner here. Even during the middle of the week, they were busy, and it's easy to see why. They took the time to explain their farm to table concept. Everything is house made, locally sourced, crafted to delight the eyes as well as the taste buds. They have a great reasonably priced happy hour special. Their menu changes seasonally and during this visit I tried their swordfish entree. It's been almost a week now and I'm still thinking about that entree. Flavorful and delicious, the swordfish wasn't even fishy at all if that makes any sense. We had the house made gnocchi app as well and I couldn't get enough of it. Airy and flavorful. I can't think of how this meal could've been any better. Truly a 5 star experience.

My life partner brought me to Cobble Hill for my 70th birthday. Having told them advance that we were celebrating my birthday, as soon as we told them our names we were greeted with an enthusiastic "Happy Birthday ". We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail before dinner and the bartenders were delighted to prepare my favorite martini even though it wasn't on the menu. It was fabulous. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. After dinner we ordered the chocolate and cinnamon soufflé! The service, ambience, and food were outstanding, reminding me of exquisite restaurants in New York and Chicago. In addition, the food is exceptionally well priced given the high quality of the ingredients used, unique preparations, and artistic presentation. "Bravo", Cobble Hill! We will be back!

I really struggled in putting this together. Here's the rundown: -ambience is great. Super cute interior - exposed brick, plants, great lighting and loved the antique dishware. -farm to table is pretty much always a winning concept but the food was hit and miss. I ordered the ricotta gnudi and it was too salty.charcuterie board didn't have much to offer. Parisian gnocchi was my favorite! - service started strong but at the end we were kind of ignored -cocktails - amazing! I would lean towards coming in for a drink and appetizers to enjoy the setting.

My wife got the Salmon BLT, which was also very good, with great bacon and a nice slab of fish. She got the upcharged Brussels Sprouts for her side and they were also tasty. The salmon was good on my egg Benedict, but the hollandaise sauce was clumpy and it was overall underwhelming. The bite I had of my friend's lox bagel tasted pretty good. I ordered the Chocolate Chip Banana Brioche Bread Pudding for dessert and my friend order the beignets. I thought the chocolate chip and chocolate sauce overpowered the bread pudding. I would have preferred less chocolate sauce and more cream sauce to balance out the chocolate chips. However, if you are a chocolate lover and you can enjoy it with a large glass of milk it may be right up your alley. The beignet were disappointing compared to those in New Orleans. The beignet's exterior was harder than normal and they weren't as fluffy. The service was overall good, however I wish the waitress would have asked if I would like a refill, versus me flagging her down 10 minutes after my glass was empty especially since the soda/tea glasses are about half the size of other restaurants.

I've never had a bad experience with the staff, though my friends and I usually sit at the bar. I used to get the Cuban on the pretzel roll back in the day but sadly the pretzel roll went away then so did the Cuban. One constant I've almost always have had is their Parmesan fries, they've always been a highlight either as a side to a burger or as an appetizer. Their version is easily some of the best fries I've ever had. The dipping sauce is on point, I recommend getting two of them. Something that has fallen off in recent years and I keep forgetting that fact, is their cheese wontons. I first fell in love with cheese wontons at Irish Democrat many moons ago and I've been chasing them ever since. They were good here once but not anymore - too much CRUNCHY wonton wrap and not enough cheese. People don't eat wontons for the wrapper, they go for the filling, if they didn't, that would be like going to Paris to see the frame and not the Mona Lisa. For these, the dipping sauce is always the best part of the dish. Overall it was a positive experience as usual. I will return.
