As many times as I've been here, I've never written a review, so here it goes. LOVE the atmosphere, for some reason it feels like an art deco speakeasy. I've never had a bad experience with the staff, though my friends and I usually sit at the bar. I used to get the Cuban on the pretzel roll back in the day but sadly the pretzel roll went away then so did the Cuban. One constant I've almost always have had is their Parmesan fries, they've always been a highlight either as a side to a burger or as an appetizer. Their version is easily some of the best fries I've ever had. The dipping sauce is on point, I recommend getting two of them. Something that has fallen off in recent years and I keep forgetting that fact, is their cheese wontons. I first fell in love with cheese wontons at Irish Democrat many moons ago and I've been chasing them ever since. They were good here once but not anymore - too much CRUNCHY wonton wrap and not enough cheese. People don't eat wontons for the wrapper, they go for the filling, if they didn't, that would be like going to Paris to see the frame and not the Mona Lisa. For these, the dipping sauce is always the best part of the dish. Overall it was a positive experience as usual. I will return. read more

The service was all what one would expect. The staff there are simply the nicest people. I also had a Bloody Mary before my lunch. It was made with considerable talent and attention to detail. The atmosphere is upscale and fun. They have amazing happy hour bogo through the week. But the food is the reason to go! I have had every appetizer in the menu and they are all delicious! Tonight we had the chicken Marsala, by far the best I have ever had! The sauce is to die for. We also had the lettuce wraps. Again, the peanut sauce was kick the plate good! What a fun environment and place to visit especially if you're a larger group or family with all different ages! Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the number of options and the unique flavors they were offering on the menu. I chose the Salmon Caesar and was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes - wow!!! You really get what you pay for, and some, and left feeling full and with leftovers. Only negative comment would be the cleanliness. We had dirty silverware and had to request it be replaced. I also noticed several tables not completely wiped clean and sanitized before new people came to occupy the space, and the floors also could have been better kept clean. But was told they could do this dish gf. No flavor . Now the flavor was all in the Cesar salad... strong fishy taste that 3 of us tried and could not bare a 2nd bite. Slaw was great. The steaks that some of the group had were good. Waitress ignored us and we never given water refills. Had to track her down for service at all. Just ate at this place for the first time, was recommended by two dear friends. Happy hour is 3-6pm so I had a couple beers. I ordered the Steak Frites which is a 14oz Ribeye with mushrooms and onions on top I question whether it was 14 oz because of the toppings it was hard to tell. The steak marbling was a lot more than usual the onions and mushrooms were delicious as was the steak it was very filling a little under cooked but it was ok. The fries were Parmesan's which were very good and the dip was a smoked onion ranch which was incredible definitely will order the fries again with the dip. Since it was my birthday I received a treat I chose the key lime dessert and it was great. Whipped cream with graham cracker crumbs and evaporated milk very similar to a piece of pie. We found this place by searching on Yelp. We first walked in and the hostess was friendly and welcoming. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. I told our waiter two dishes I was going between and to bring me which one he preferred. We had two younger kids with us and even though the restaurant doesn't look kid friendly, it really is. So watch out. You might be upset (like I get when I don't get any place to sit/stand). It is definitely the best place to be when it is buggy or rainy or snowy outside. I will share a tip - This place has the best quality beers. I moved here from New York and the blue moon beer has never disappointed me, never flat. But in all of Iowa I never got a good blue moon on tap. Food is expensive but you pay for quality. The servers have always been friendly.
