I never thought I would be able to get a perfect Detroit style in Cedar Rapids! I am visiting family and I am from out of town, and they said we need to go to Bop's pizza first thing. I recommend calling ahead and during lunch they have pizza slices specials. We had a DELICIOUS dessert pizza afterwards and I thought I would float to ~heaven~ Adequate parking in front, and behind the store. Super friendly staff and they asked how I was enjoying my trip. Service - we stopped by at 3 pm to order pizza and found that they have limited hours. Looks like they cater towards the big business with limited lunch and dinner hours during the week. Not a good business model for folks visiting the area. Hope the pizza makes up for the service but we'll never know. Nice easy location to find in a strip mall located near 4 different hotels. Update: I'd still give it a 3 - 4 star rating cause of the quality of pizza. Have been there 3x already this year. At different times. Every time before it ended up getting busy. New York style thin crust pizza. We realize the thicker crusts are taking about 45 minutes to 1 hour BUT we always had to wait 45+ minutes for our thin crust pizza. Fountain drinks are very basic selection. Great pizza but long wait even for the thin crust. We are taking some time out for the rest of the year. read more

We ordered a Detroit-style Mediterranean pizza from Bop's Pizza for pickup (no salami, added chicken) and it was fantastic. The crust was perfectly crisp on the edges, soft and airy inside, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The chicken was a great addition and everything tasted really well-balanced. The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review is that they don't offer delivery--pickup was smooth, but delivery would make it even more convenient. This store is alway clean, the music is never too loud or distracting. The service is incredible, easy to be a regular here with the smiles and friendliness from the staff. The food here is outstanding, I often crave the Detroit style taco pizza, and their jalapeño popper pizza makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Best pizza in town! Hands down, the BEST pizza in CR. I still don't understand the hype around Tomaso's... this place blows them out of the water. The owners are super friendly and always have a smile on their face. Their hours have changed a few times over the last year, so keep an eye on that. The Detroit style pizza is the best pizza I've ever had. Keep in mind, it usually takes 45-60 minutes to cook. I find it laughable that people complain about the wait time when you should know how long the pizza takes to cook. Or if you live a few miles away from this place, maybe get off your #$% and go pick it up instead of paying for delivery a third party for delivery and complaining when it's cold. Great pizza, the best deep dish in the Cedar Rapids area. Service is outstanding, courteous, attentive, and quick. This pizzeria has the best vibe of any in the area. The restaurant is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. When entering, you can see the kitchen and tell how clean they keep it. The cookies taste better and cost less than the new cookie franchises in the area. Dine-in or carryout, dinner or by the slice at lunch (as well as leftover for breakfast), it is hard to beat Bop's on Blairs Ferry Road and less than 5 minutes from I-380 or Lindale Mal and 10 minutes from downtown. read more

We've driven past Bop's a billion times since they've opened and I swore after looking at pictures of the food that we wouldn't go in here. Really I didn't break that promise because we ordered pickup during COVID-19, so they ran the pizza out to our car. But still, we caved. My best friend was in from out of town and we just wanted something quick and open. We were already on the road and pulled into the parking lot to find out it was call-in only due to social distancing restrictions at the time. We placed our order and 30 minutes later we had our pizza. We opted for a large cheese and it was alright. Consensus was that it tasted kinda like a frozen pizza you could pickup at the store... for cheaper. In a town over saturated with pizza options, this one really isn't our scene, but you could definitely do worse. read more

We ordered Bops through the local (I think?) delivery company Chomp. Placing our order online was fast and efficient, and our pizza's arrived in about 30 minutes and were still hot. (A medium cheese and large pepperoni, tomato, basil, and onion). The cheese was just 'ok'. There was too much (I believe dried thyme?) on it, which I did not expect. The large pizza was also just 'ok'. Really nothing particular about the crust (semolina is used -- which I am not a fan of), and the toppings were fine, I guess. Overall, would I try Bops again? We ordered a taco and a cheeseburger pizza tonight. Delicious! The taco pizza has a great deal of flavorful taco meat and not too much lettuce. The cheese was melted and gooey. Our pizzas were New York, which is a light airy crust. The cheeseburger pizza had just a little too many pickles for my taste; however, the true cheeseburger pizza experts in our family said it was stop on. But twice now in two days I've tried to dine there and both times there is a sign in the window saying their hours for the day are different than posted on the door and online. To other potential patrons, Bop's is worth it on all fronts: food is tasty, service is first rate, and ambiance is cool. Easily the worst pizza I have had from any pizza restaurant. I ordered delivery and it took a shade under 2 hours to arrive even though I'm only 3.3 miles away. The pizza was so cold that I had to put it in the microwave to heat it up so I could try it. The pizza was all dough and with every bite I felt like I was maxing out my sodium intake for the day. After choking down one slice I threw my $35 pizza in the trash. Because I was craving pizza, I put a $2 Torino's in the oven and that was way better. At least I have narrowed down where not to go for pizza from now on. read more
