Spanish chorizo, local corn, scallions, tajín - the tajín was the coup d'état, it turned the pizza from good to great and as mentioned before, the crust was amazing. They have a core 4-5 pizzas then rotate another 3 special pizzas at different intervals. It wasn't really busy in the restaurant but we did wait 30+ minutes for our pizza. 4/5 will for sure return. The wait for the food and the high seats keep this from being 5/5, the taste of the food is for sure 5/5.

Locals don't count for sh*t here, only Tipsy Trolley fakers. I'm not bothering with this place again. I hope those so quick to villify Whitey's (especially those who have never met Whitey, nor patronize his business) are as quick to jump on the apology bandwagon. My daughters and I met friends for dinner at Whiteys a few days before the "incident" and had a typical experience there - fast, friendly service, and great food at a reasonable price. The bar/restaurant has nice decor, is VERY clean and well-maintained. At a recent visit, Daron Rubner stopped by our table a couple of times to banter with the girls, and then sent them both bowls of ice cream (just to be nice) after they were done eating. My older daughter took it upon herself to leave Whitey a thank you note written on a napkin, with a P.S. that read "Whitey, you're the best!". We have gone back to Whitey's since the incident, and will make it a point to do so more often in the future. I would venture to guess most of the negative ratings/comments are from those who have never stepped foot in Iowa, let alone this establishment. I prefer to form my opinions on personal experience. It's too bad that others prefer to rely on half-truths in an attempt to sabotage a local business that supports the community. read more

My original review was deleted ( didn't think business owners could delete reviews but I guess they can). Here are the specifics. I ate at Whiteys on 7/3/15 on my way home from iowa city. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and my husband ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. It took forever to get our drinks and food both. When we got them, the fries were cold and the burgers over cooked. We tried to speak with the wait staff but they were too busy drinking at the bar. read more

My sister ordered the spicy pork (which has historically been amazing) and didn't even finish it, which is pretty weird for her lol. I tasted nothing but soy sauce and spice.
