Our dinner was wonderful and two weeks later my husband still raved about the fried chicken sandwich! Service was good, considering how busy they were but we had a little frustration taking care of our tab when we mentioned we were headed to a show and needed to be headed there,

It's been a long time since I had a real Iowa pork tenderloin, and on my brief trip here I knew…read morethat I had to get one. Normally I'd go to Joensy's, but my folks recommended this place which is only a few minutes away from where they live. I called in my takeout order, which was taken by a cheerful woman on the other end. When I walked into the restaurant/bar, it was bustling with a convivial atmosphere. Every table was filled and patrons sat shoulder-to-shoulder at the bar. I suspect that there are a lot of regulars here, and I drew some curious glances as it was clear that I wasn't a familiar face. The woman at the bar saw me as I came in and figured out that I was there for the food, and she beckoned me over with a smile. I assume that she was one of the proprietors, and she was friendly and welcoming, especially when she learned that I was from out of town. After a very pleasant chat, I left to enjoy our meal at home. The only thing I can really comment on is, of course, the pork tenderloin. As should be the case, it was enormous and dwarfed its oversized bun. The fresh greens and tomatoes were packaged in Saran wrap, which was a smart move because otherwise they would made everything soggy. The tenderloin was hot and crispy on the outside but tender and moist in the middle. One of them was thicker and slightly smaller in diameter than the others, and this one turned out to be the best of the lot because it was particularly juicy. Someday it would be nice to come back and have a meal in this real old-school tavern. It's probably a good idea that I didn't during these Covid times, since I do work in a hospital and would have been sad if I were an asymptomatic carrier that transmitted the illness to an unsuspecting crowd.

This was a charming restaurant with excellent service and excellent food. We had two of the pasta…read moredishes and they were phenomenal. There were only two issues I had concerns with. The first one is the entrance. That is definitely a hazard for both staff and customers. Customers are walking directly in the path of the staff coming out with dishes. Bad design there. You can see the main entrance was ultimately closed in order to accommodate more seating. The other issue is the noise level. That was quite bad as well due to the close proximity of the tables and overall size of the restaurant. I'm sure in the summer this might not be as bad due to the patio portion of the restaurant. Neither will hinder me returning. The food is amazing!

The staff was super friendly, and they were incredibly attentive--our water glasses never even got close to empty. For starters, we had the crab cakes--not the freshest I've had, but still flavorful with a fun spin that made them enjoyable. The real MVP of the night? The Acumen Napa Valley Cabernet 2018. This wine was insanely smooth and balanced, making every sip a perfect pairing for our meal. For mains, we got the Australian lamb chops (cooked beautifully to medium rare--juicy and flavorful) and the shrimp scampi with added roasted mushrooms, which was fresh, light, and seasoned quite well. We concluded the evening with a slice of lemon cream cake -- a refreshing and flavorful way to end the meal, though not the most memorable dish of the night. The ambiance is super cute and high class and cozy. Great for a date night. We spent about an hour and a half dining, and overall, Tuscan Moon is a fantastic choice for a solid meal with great service and delicious wine. Definitely worth coming back for!

I visited this bar for karaoke on a Friday night and am very unimpressed by the karaoke hosts and…read morethe way they managed their system: Here are the issues: 1. The announcer was intoxicated: A rule of thumb for karaoke hosts is to always be aware and able to run karaoke to the best of their ability. After several drinks, the KJ was noticeably under the influence and being rude while interrupting karaoke singers. He may have thought he was being funny, but it came across to me as rude and unappreciative of the singers. 2. The announcer would interrupt songs with commentary: The KJ would frequently interrupt the singers (on his mic) with commentary and jokes. I found this extremely disrespectful to the singers. It was distracting to the singers, the audience, and made me feel uncomfortable. 3. The announcer was rude to me directly: During one song, he started laughing and made a comment of "well if you were to do it right". I know he somehow meant it as a joke, but I was embarrassed and that was completely uncalled for. At the end of the night, he restated he appreciated me coming out and hopes that I'd return, but as a KJ myself, there are things you just don't do when running karaoke. Being sober and able to make good judgments, respecting people when it's their time to shine, and being courteous to those around you are essential. This will be my first and last time visiting the Red Lion Lounge.
