Cool place. Very attentive bartender and friendly. Tried a couple IPA's I'd never had which were pretty good. Wife had a seltzer drink which again was good. Nice ambiance and good selection of beer. Wish they had a non-peach cider so we could have done snakebites but oh well. Definitely recommend.

This is such a cozy place to sit and relax after a long day at the office. It is dark in places and lighter in others and I think they have outside seating also. A great selection of craft beers. I don't think they have food but they do provide free bar snacks. The decorations make you feel like you are in a castle with the comfy chairs and fireplace. Or choose to sit in the front window. It is on a dead end street so the traffic is not bad and there is plenty of parking. If you are looking for a lounge type attmosphere then this is a great place to visit. Caution: I think they are closed on Monday nights.

This was our first time here. We found this little gem on Facebook while trying to find someplace to watch the Hawkeye game. Typically, I hate watching the game in a bar. There's nothing worse than being surrounded with a bunch of drunk bros drinking PBR while high-fiving. The smell of stale beer and peanuts wafting through out the room. Not here. Uptown Snug had a very cool English pub type vibe to it. There were plenty of seats in doors as well as a beautiful patio outback which would be perfect to enjoy a drink. The game was shown on two large screen TVs. There was an ample selection of beer. The bartenders were friendly and incredibly attentive. Plus, they had free snacks during the game. That was also a plus. The biggest surprise was that the drinks were all very reasonably priced. Honestly, I think we have found our new regular Hawkeye game watching bar. I kind a hope that no one else finds out how awesome this place is to watch a game. Just kidding. I plan on telling everyone I know.

I'm updating my review for this bar from a 4 stars to a 5 stars. I just love coming here for a drink after a long days work. Such a great atmosphere to walk into and the bartenders are all very nice to talk to. Whether you choose to sit on the patio in the summer or warm up next to their fireplace in the winter, Uptown Snug is an awesome place to go to. Great establishment!

I absolutely love this pub! A true hidden gem in Marion. I was home for the holidays when my step mom suggested we come here. They had a decent beer selection, great music (they were playing a solid 90s list), TV if you want to watch a game, and great ambiance. I was honestly surprised at how nice this place is, took me by surprise given its location in little old Marion. Definitely a new hometown favorite.

Loved the restored historic house feeling of the place, with the fireplace and classic wooden moldings.

I've never had a bad experience with the staff, though my friends and I usually sit at the bar. I used to get the Cuban on the pretzel roll back in the day but sadly the pretzel roll went away then so did the Cuban. One constant I've almost always have had is their Parmesan fries, they've always been a highlight either as a side to a burger or as an appetizer. Their version is easily some of the best fries I've ever had. The dipping sauce is on point, I recommend getting two of them. Something that has fallen off in recent years and I keep forgetting that fact, is their cheese wontons. I first fell in love with cheese wontons at Irish Democrat many moons ago and I've been chasing them ever since. They were good here once but not anymore - too much CRUNCHY wonton wrap and not enough cheese. People don't eat wontons for the wrapper, they go for the filling, if they didn't, that would be like going to Paris to see the frame and not the Mona Lisa. For these, the dipping sauce is always the best part of the dish. Overall it was a positive experience as usual. I will return.

Our server greeted us as soon as we walked in and was friendly enough. The food left MUCH to be desired. We ordered a bowl of wild rice soup with a side of the beer battered fries, the Italian sandwich with fries and the fish and chips. Instead of a bowl, a cup came out, which isn't a huge deal and is an easy fix. The soup was extra thick and wasn't heated all the way through. Almost cold in the middle. The Italian sandwich was ok, it contained all of the ingredients listed on the menu, and it was on bread about the size of a hot dog bun. The fish and chips, for $19, was probably the most disappointing. The fish was cooked well and tasted good, but both pieces together was about the same size as one of Gorton's battered fish filets. Given that there were only 3 occupied tables the whole time we were there, I expected more from the kitchen, especially given the price. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 for the server doing her job, and the fries were good. If I go back, it'll be for drinks, definitely not the sub-mediocre food. Note: The photo- Split, so it's on a smaller plate. Notice the size of the piece of fish. This was the size of both pieces. I wish I could say it was an oversized fork.

So the staff is attentive and pleasant. I had a craft root beer (Barn Town Brewery from West Des Moines), that was really good as root beers go. We had appetizer Nachos, which were on Taco flavored Doritos. Nachos were solid but a little light on the beef and cheese sauce for my taste. The Soup, Salad and Breadstick was good and a perfect size for a smaller appetite. My friend had a Midwest BBQ Smash Burger without the bun, he would order it again. I had the Hangover Smash and it was a great bacon cheeseburger - add peanut butter (sounds weird but it was great), an egg, some bacon and smashed tater tots and life is good, with or without the hangover. The Irish decor is a nice touch as this was an Irish pub once upon a time. We enjoyed our meal and we will return, I loved the smash burgers.
