Cool place. Very attentive bartender and friendly. Tried a couple IPA's I'd never had which were pretty good. Wife had a seltzer drink which again was good. Nice ambiance and good selection of beer. This is such a cozy place to sit and relax after a long day at the office. It is dark in places and lighter in others and I think they have outside seating also. A great selection of craft beers. I don't think they have food but they do provide free bar snacks. The decorations make you feel like you are in a castle with the comfy chairs and fireplace. Or choose to sit in the front window. It is on a dead end street so the traffic is not bad and there is plenty of parking. If you are looking for a lounge type attmosphere then this is a great place to visit. This was our first time here. We found this little gem on Facebook while trying to find someplace to watch the Hawkeye game. Typically, I hate watching the game in a bar. There's nothing worse than being surrounded with a bunch of drunk bros drinking PBR while high-fiving. The smell of stale beer and peanuts wafting through out the room. Not here. Uptown Snug had a very cool English pub type vibe to it. There were plenty of seats in doors as well as a beautiful patio outback which would be perfect to enjoy a drink. The game was shown on two large screen TVs. There was an ample selection of beer. The bartenders were friendly and incredibly attentive. Plus, they had free snacks during the game. That was also a plus. The biggest surprise was that the drinks were all very reasonably priced. Honestly, I think we have found our new regular Hawkeye game watching bar. I kind a hope that no one else finds out how awesome this place is to watch a game. Just kidding. I plan on telling everyone I know. read more

I'm updating my review for this bar from a 4 stars to a 5 stars. I just love coming here for a drink after a long days work. Such a great atmosphere to walk into and the bartenders are all very nice to talk to. Whether you choose to sit on the patio in the summer or warm up next to their fireplace in the winter, Uptown Snug is an awesome place to go to. Great establishment! read more

Cute little "European" pub in Marion. Full of charm and a cozy place perfect for an evening out with friends! When my husband and I got married in 2016 we came here with our bridal party before the reception and they were very accommodating to us all and everyone loved it! This pub does not serve food, however they always have Chex mix for those drinking munchies! Drink wise, I recommend the vodka lemonade as it is made with fresh squeezed lemonade! read more

Went in for a beer with a couple of girlfriends. Treated like garbage by the bartender. We had recently bought the Chamber of Commerce shopping bags and asked if we could have a pin for the bag (it's a thing). The bartender said he didn't know anything about it and started to walk away but my friend pulled a picture up on her phone to show him. His response: "It doesn't change the fact I don't know what you're talking about. I'm on a need to know around here and obviously I don't need to know". He didn't try to look. He didn't say come back when someone is here to help...nothing. He just walked over to a group of male customers and continued chatting them up. As we were walking out, guess what's hanging on the wall for purchase....THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SHOPPING BAGS! Seriously. I'll skip the pin. This has ensured I will not be back and will always recommend an alternative to Uptown Snug. Apparently his manager doesn't think he "needs to know" basic customer service skills either. read more

As others have stated this is a classy and comfortable pub that Marion needed very much! It's a great place to stop in and have a beer or cocktail. They offer a wonderful selection of beers on tap, as well as unique liquors. The outdoor seating is very comfortable with all the art in the alleys really make for a relaxing environment which is hard to find in this area. They also have a self service water area that can come in very handy while trying to balance your beer to water intake lol, as well as snack mix. If your looking for a fun night out uptown snug is a great choice. Try it out for yourself I think you will be glad you did. read more

Came here on a Thursday night. The bartender was in the restroom thats fine. We are a chill group. He came out and acted pissed we were there. A decent crowd was there that night and he closed it down. He wasn't nice to us until the other couple told him that their son also works there. I just can't imagine working in customer service and hating it. read more

I absolutely love this pub! A true hidden gem in Marion. I was home for the holidays when my step mom suggested we come here. They had a decent beer selection, great music (they were playing a solid 90s list), TV if you want to watch a game, and great ambiance. I was honestly surprised at how nice this place is, took me by surprise given its location in little old Marion. Definitely a new hometown favorite. read more

This is a newer establishment in downtown Marion, staking it's claim as an upscale Irish Pub. It is a comfortable space, and it does have a back patio. A decent selection of beers on tap. I did get a little ticked off when the bartenders disappeared at one point, then one came back, and she ignored me while she filled orders for the tables. Another came over and helped me right away but I'm not sure if I had a sign on my forehead that said "don't take my order" for a while. read more

It's bright and Welcoming in front of house then the Irish pub serves as your seating. Extremely dark woods, not the most inviting atmosphere. We opted to sit on the outdoor patio which was much better. I order the spinach mushroom goat cheese frittata which was sooo good, I instantly wanted more. They choose a use arugula and cherry tomatoes salad. Nothing else just lettuce and 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half with a side of an vinaigrette dressing. I ordered the latte with almond milk and caramel shot. The coffee was very good, super smooth and beans were definitely not burned like in some shops. I am not super picky about flavored syrups shots but their choices were limited. They do know how to make a great cup of coffee. If your getting your food to go, it's nice, coffee definitely could become a fav however, the seating, just didn't like it. I look for places I could enjoy and hang out for while, bright, inviting and feel a little cozy. For this reason 2 stars. The food 3 stars, it was a just tad pricey for what I got and would rather liked a slice of fruit like pineapple or couple orange slices or 3 strawberries etc.. vs the Arugula tomato salad at breakfast. Coffee was worth it. They brought the food to you which was also a perk. Great place if your looking for take out and coffee. Now if you enjoy dark intimate bars, you will love the Irish pub in the back. And if you love doughnut land donuts they had a HUGE variety. Check it out and see what you think. read more

Great place to chill and have a drink. Definitely upscale, but casual. Much needed after Bill's left Marion, even though it's a very different crowd. Huge selection of beer and wine. Relatively quiet, but comfortable. Two nice big TVs and a nice fireplace. We will be going back and will frequent often. read more

What a unique place! I took a group of 4 there. It was cozy and classy. The wine, beer and liquor selections were varied and the drinks were generous. There was a choice of either sitting at the long bar, peak ceiling bar area or in the comfortable chairs and tables in the entry way, looking out the windows on to the quiet street. Loved the restored historic house feeling of the place, with the fireplace and classic wooden moldings. We ordered Sushi from a nearby restaurant and brought it back to eat at our table. Got lots of help and attention from our bartender, Billy. We watched college basketball on the high end flat screens above the bar, while fun music played throughout. Very cool bar in Marion. Has the vibe of Chicago or Manhattan but the friendly feeling of Marion, Iowa. The beer and drinks are great. Incredible beer and wine selection. The prices are competitive.. Loved the outdoor patio. I just happened in there by chance and fell in love with the bar and the owners. The owners (Paul and Jeanie) were very welcoming. I live in California and happened upon this bar while visiting my sister who lives in Marion. I can't wait to go back and visit the Uptown Snug. read more

Classy, comfortable, beautiful environment in UpTown Marion. We enjoy going here to meet or even while out on the town. The SNUG really IS a very friendly, welcoming, fun, happy place for those whom "clean up nice" or the casual business to dress business attire to gather in UpTown Marion and have any beverage of choice. It's very refreshing, actually! The prices are for every budget!! We feel very welcome and love sitting inside on a bar stool, the couch by the fireplace in the winter, and just last week, on the Snug Patio enjoying Artway Alley!
