Dishonest to a point bordering on fraudulent. Incompetent. We hired the company to "open our pool".....$1000 bucks (which is ridiculous)....and they leave a note that says: "Will have to come back to finish the vac, backwash, and balance the chemicals *Pool was a bit murky, so we left the system running 25/ in service until we return" Im not sure, but sounds to me as though they didn't finish the job and they are coming back, right? NO!!!!!! I called to ask when and they said they would send someone out for and additional $500 bucks...and stupid me, I agree!!!!! because Im the type of sucker that a business like this relies on taking advantage of. So thats the end, right? NO!!!!!!! They don't show up and when I call again, its my fault!!! So now we are two weeks and about $1500 bucks into getting this pool open and still no end in sight. But is that the end? NO!!!!!!! We were charged nearly $1000 bucks to replace 15 small tiles!!! Why? IDK....perhaps they flew artisans in from Italy. $2500 bucks....15 small tiles.....and a bowl of water I can not swim in.....do yourself a favor.....find someone that has some pride in their business, some sense of value for the customer, and frankly someone that will be around next year.......because these guys will go under and deserve it. AND SHAME ON YELP FOR MAKING ME GIVE AT LEAST 1 STAR!!!!

My ~45 year-old in-ground vinyl pool finally succumbed to all it's electrical, plumbing, equipment,…read morecoping and deck problems just before COVID started. We spent over a year trying to find a fair priced, communicative, and quality contractor who was even available to do the renovation work. We had ridiculously high quotes, quotes not itemized, blatant gouging, and folks who would not even return phone calls. Then we found Brian and Northstar Pools. From the first moments, I knew this was not your average NJ contractor. He was extremely polite, knowledgeable, humble - and clearly held to their mantra of providing only caring and customer-focused service - but he really knows his stuff on top of that! His prices were fair and enumerated in detail, so I knew exactly what I was getting. But it took a couple of months while I did more research - and during that time he was ever so patient, answered all my questions, and helped me arrive at a plan that worked. Once work started, he and his crew worked very hard and efficiently to tackle this beast of a project. As I was juggling the logistics of the other related landscaping and electrical work (and not to mention the weather), Brian was super accommodating and patient in coordinating all the work with me. When the inevitable need for plan changes occurred - Brian took everything in stride to make sure I was satisfied. The DIYer and engineer in me forced me to ask a LOT of questions as work progressed (and I mean a LOT). Brian answered every single one of them patiently and professionally - even the stupid ones. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were clearly evident. He even crawled ten feet under the new liner he just installed to remove a few pebbles that had found their way underneath - on a nice hot August day no less. Thank-you Brian and your great team for the work you did - and the manner in which you performed it. We are so blessed that we found you.

I was so happy, and scheduled an appointment about two weeks out. I took days draining the pool and securing a liner, and then when he showed up he decided that the deck was too difficult to deal with and that he was no longer interested in the job. I had an excellent experience with Fabio and his team. I had been dealing with a persistent skimmer…read moreleak that had been bothering us for quite some time. Before finding Fabio, I had worked with two other pool companies that were either unable to identify the source of the leak, recommended services which were not needed, or were simply unprofessional throughout the process. It was frustrating, so it was a huge relief to finally find someone who knew exactly what he was doing. Fabio identified the problem, explained the repair in detail, and answered every question I had along the way - and I had a lot. He arrived on time and got right to work. The repair was extensive, as shown from the photos, as it involved excavating the concrete around the pool to replace the old skimmer with a brand-new one, as well as digging a trench all the way to the pool equipment to replace the old plumbing with new rigid lines. Throughout the entire project, his workmanship was outstanding. Fabio was patient, honest, personable, and never made me feel rushed despite the many questions I had. He also shared several great recommendations for future pool maintenance, which I really appreciated. Once the repair was complete, he also took the time to thoroughly vacuum and clean the pool so it was ready to be used. I appreciated that extra level of care. His pricing was very fair, especially considering the amount of labor involved and the quality of the finished result. After my experience with other companies, I can say Fabio is the real deal. I'm already looking forward to having him back for some additional upgrades I have planned for my pool and would recommend Fabio and Poolminator. An easy five stars!

About four months ago, we signed a contract for a $15,000 project to rebuild all the pipes of an in-ground pool, for which I paid a $6,000 deposit. Just before the project was set to begin, I decided not to move forward (the reasons are another story I may leave for a separate review). Zachary initially agreed to refund the deposit, but that's when the horrible experience started. They first claimed the entire $6,000 deposit had already been spent on "materials," and that it would take time to recover the money from their supplier. The project itself was mostly labor, and even if every material had been purchased upfront, it would not reasonably exceed $1,000. I was never provided any proof to support their claim. They promised to return the full refund within six weeks. Partial repayments were made, but the schedule kept changing, amounts kept shrinking, and payments were skipped repeatedly with various excuses. Now, 16 weeks later, only about half of the deposit has been repaid.
