These guys are perfectionists. They have repaired self inflicted damage to our Volvo twice in three years. Their operation is smooth. Ok, It all started out by 2 good friends giving me rave reviews about this place.Let me start out by saying I am fussy, NOT cheap, but i expect to get what i am promised and asking for while meeting there price given. I have been in the auto business 49 years. I have been awarded the highest points ever given at the Carlisle "all Truck Nationals" with a pickup that was restored by Jeff Hardy, ( who is no longer in the business) When I first met ray, (the owner) I introduced myself and told him what I was looking for. He assured me that I would get what he promised. Let me add that I have a Penchant for the 67-72 Chevy trucks, (I own 5 of them) and they are all in "Like new" condition. I showed Ray my trucks and explained the problem spots and made it quite clear that these areas were/are problem areas, all the while he assured me"no problem" " they will handle it. We agreed on a price that was in my window and I gave him my truck to do over the winter. He had my truck for about 6 months, ( I was NOT in a hurry) and when I got it back, it looked fantastic. I coudn't have been more pleased, and if I might add, The price that he gave me went up a few times because of unforeseen problems that only became apparent as the work progressed. ( it's totally acceptable to have that happen on ANY "strip and paint" that you discover lots of hidden problems.) ( it had a LOT of previous work and a lot of bondo) Even though it really had no rust, it had its hidden problems. So, Fast forward less than a year later and I start to notice "problems" that were supposedly taken care of initially. I had additional work to do on the truck as I dented the right bedside panel, and the inside of the doors needed work. While speaking with Ray about those needs, He gave me a price, I agreed to it, and than I told him about the additional 4 other places that were showing problems. It was at that time he started showing his true attitude calling me out as being smarter than him and berating me in a way that really gave me pause to go any further with this person. It got to the point that he was insulting me over the phone, enough that I demanded an apology. 2 days later, he apologized and I thought that everything would be good. I foolishly gave it the benefit of the doubt. I dropped off my truck on the day I was told to do so, ( after a few other appointments were pushed out by ray) and left my truck with them for 3 more months. When I went to check on it and find out what and why things happened to the problem areas, I was given an explanation, but one really struck me as a credibility problem from ray as he explained to me, "that that area looked ok so we left it alone", after I explicitly told him from the get go it was a problem area!! There was also a problem on the hood which required repainting the hood. ( as an aside, It was right before Thanksgiving that I visited the truck and Ray asked me if I could pay him what I owed him that day so he could do whatever) and I paid him thinking that we were all good. The truck was ready for paint, (in the booth) and i was assured that all was good. When i was called a week later i asked, "how does it look?" Again I was assured, From Ray, that it was fine. Ray picked me up at my house on the way to his shop one snowy morning to pick up my truck. The truck was inside, the battery was dead, Ray jumped it, I got in my truck and locked it into 4wd, ( as it was snowing) and drove home, all the while thinking No problem, I have my truck back. I put it in my garage as I had some work to do on the doors and the first day I took it out in the sun, WHAM_O! It look like the hood was sprayed with a rattle can, streaky, blotchy quite frankly, a real P.O.S. job. Even strangers were commenting on the hood, asking me "what happened to that"! I called mike at Razors auto body and explained, (and told) him that i want this fixed ASAP and i'm not happy. I also told him that I really don't want to talk to ray as he is a hothead who has no business talking with customers. And I also explained to Mike that Ray is a Painter above all. He prides himself in the "paint work " he does on motorcycles, corvettes, etc,( and he WILL tell you when you meet him!) yet he puts out this kind of work knowing full well it was a s--t job! Mike told me to drop it off on a Monday, which I did. I just picked it up and although it looks good, it just doesnt match the overall finish that was applied last year. Bottom line, Even though when I called his shop today, and spoke with Ray, (not my choice) and he had the chance to ADMIT the job he did was crap, His childish PRIDE and his huge EGO stood in the way of doing business and accepting the fact he is NOT always right! again,,,EGO!! Bottom Line on Razors auto-body is, ( at least from me) is BEWARE of Rays false promises. The rest of his crew is top notch and really nice people, But Ray? Not a chance I would ever recommend him to anyone, read more

If you want quality bodywork this is the place to go. This isn't your typical cover it with bondo and slap paint on it. I had some work done on my car was done fast and looks like new. While I was in there I saw motorcycles ready for paint guitars. This is a one stop he can do it all. read more

I know this review comes rather late since I was not aware of Yelp on line reviews until now. I worked with Ray at another body shop for a few years before he went out on his own. We worked on one of one my classic cars during his time there and Ray was the painter who did a great job painting it. My other car has needed some minor "road rash" repair work and paint for some time. We talked the repairs over plus a couple of additional things Ray showed me. We came to a an agreed price and set an appointment date. When I left the car I knew it would take some time to let Ray and his crew work their magic. When he called to tell me it was ready, I felt like a kid being told that it was Christmas morning. I could not wait to go pick it up. When I got there, I was thrilled, not only were all the repairs completed, the paint looked even more amazing than I expected. (This a 1969 Mustang that is Grabber Orange. I had been asking how it was going during the repair process. Mike told me they had a hard time getting the paint to match since it is a special and old color.) The whole crew came out when I got there to see what I thought of how my baby came out. I told them I was extremely happy. So happy I plan on having the Razor team do some more work on my other classic. The guys at Razor's are a talented bunch of guys. Thanks again for being the guys you are. I went to this shop after crashing my Infiniti G35, and the first impression was great. Very friendly staff and eager to help. They gave me a verbal estimate that day and sent me a formal estimate via email the following day. The price was very reasonable and they were willing to get it right in! I decided my 2008 truck needed an estimate for a rust patch behind the driver's side back quarter panel (bed panel, behind back tire), a new rear bumper to replace the original bumper that had developed rust patches, a new tailgate to replace the scratched up original, a general light rust body work on each side of the truck, and a full exterior paint job. Brought truck here where they took pictures and said that the barely visible, light rust dots on the side of the truck (not including the rust patch, rear bumper, and tailgate) were on the surface and likely due to rail dust (hot brake dust hitting the sides of the truck over the years) and that it should sand out before painting. They sent me an estimate for the full job and I asked if they could also send me a second estimate for fixing just the rust spot behind the driver's side back tire and replacing the rear bumper. They sent the second estimate and said that they couldn't just fix and then paint the small rust patch area but that they would have to repaint the whole rear quarter panel (driver's side) and they asked if I wanted the side decals replaced after painting. I said I did. We agreed to the work of the second smaller estimate and they had the truck on Monday and we went to pick it up at the end of the same week. The rust patch repair was fixed and the new bumper looked good. Unfortunately there was an unidentified pre-existing dent along the top of the bed rail that stuck out like a sore thumb with the new paint job. I was surprised we had not received a call about this dent while the work was in progress to see if we wanted it fixed. Mike (not the owner) said they would address the dent when the truck came back in for the rest of the light body work. This seemed like a fair solution and then my husband and I said we were interested in having them put on the new tailgate sooner after all. The owner said he wasn't convinced we needed a new tailgate and that he thought he could clean up the rust and repaint the tailgate and it would be cheaper and get more life out of the existing tailgate. He quoted us $400 verbally and my husband asked him to call during the week to let us know if there were any surprises with the tailgate once the owner started getting into the work. The owner agreed he would call. Again, unfortunately, the owner never called midweek to give a status of the tailgate. The final cost for fixing the tailgate was $600 (not the $400 quoted). The only call we received was at the end of the week to say the work was done and the tailgate was ready. I went to pick it up at the end of the week and noticed there was a piece of debris that had been painted on to the exterior of the tailgate. Mike said to come back in and they would address the debris. I showed the owner the debris and he commented that the debris was indeed part of their paint job. He did some wet sanding using some sort of cream, a handheld electric buffer, and intermittent rubbing with a cloth to remove the debris and "fill in" the spot. This debris spot is now a weak point in the tailgate paint job. The owner made it clear he was not happy with having to spend time fixing this problem. While he was working on this debris, he began saying he could not do the rest of the truck work for the estimate we were given (via email) and that he could not just deduct the work that had already been done and use that as the new quote (contrary to what we had been told previously). He started adding tasks to the future work and was jacking up the original estimate by thousands of dollars. Not once did the owner apologize for not calling (twice!) to get clarification on things that popped up during the two jobs or for getting debris in the paint job (and painting over it again) and then compromising the paint job with the debris removal. Mike has been great to work with but he can only do so much, he's not the owner. read more
