Their Volvo technician has helped me keep three Volvo station wagons running until their absolute last possible days. My first was over 20 years old, my second about 15, and my current one is 16 and still going strong (They use its twin as one of their Courtesy vehicles, so I always felt comfortable there from the start). My husband now brings his aging Honda Insight hybrid, which sits so low that its muffler system is a recurring issue, there, as well, for diagnosing of pesky CHECK ENGINE lights. We both use them for oil changes and state inspections. They troubleshoot for me before long trips in an older car, and always rank suggested repairs by priority. Garry's location on South Main is convenient, easy to access, and has plenty of parking, plus convenient key-drop box. If I could assign them more than FIVE STARS, I would!

Come to find out everything that she didn't need to pass the inspection was pushed on her in a way that seemed it needed to be done in order to pass. Easy target! a young lady that has no idea what's going on, just a big heart and almost too much trust. They just sat her in the waiting room for 3 hours. I was told "bring it in no worries, we gotcha" Based on that information, I brought my vehicle in. When I picked it up, I was unexpectedly charged $200 for the diagnosis. If I had been told there would be a fee, I could have made an informed decision before leaving my vehicle. I have no issue paying for services when the costs are communicated upfront, but being told one thing over the phone and charged something completely different is unacceptable. I'm leaving this review so other customers are aware and can be sure to get any pricing in writing before authorizing service. Poor communication and a lack of transparency like this erode customer trust. I won't be returning, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same experience.

Bob is a friendly trustworthy local guy who works his ass off and has earned my business more than once. I found myself in a bind this past October with my Toyota needing complete brakes (I used the E brake to get it to his shop) front and bake as well as an exhaust pipe Bob found missing & preventing emissions from passing as well as a dozen other things to pass inspection. Needless to say, my budget was limited and time was of the essence due to my work requires travel. Bob did all the brakes, rehabbed the exhaust and took care of the dozen other items on a Saturday afternoon of me delivering it too him. Lastly, Bob and I discussed pricing before he got into everything that needed work and considering the additional exhaust- Bob stayed within 10% of my budget, including inspection. Couldn't be happier with ABS and my 4 runner that runs like a dream now.

The mechanic was working on a car in the garage. He say me stopped and came over to greet me. I told him what was going on. He says I can look at it for free, then give you a fair price and see if you want to do it here. He had an opening because someone else hadn't shown up today. He looked at my car. Took the tires off and told me what was wrong. He let me look at the rotators and I could see how worn-out they were. He gave me a great price for what needed to be done. He also patch a hole in my tire too. I am very happy I pulled into American Brake Service. I feel like I got a fair deal and everyone was super nice. It is great driving away from a mechanic and not feeling ripped off. I would totally use American Break Service again.
