My husband and I were visiting the Bay Area. We were on the way to a birthday party, but had some time to kill. We had just exited a BART station and began searching for organic food. We were delighted to find Razan's close by. Their menu has a huge variety, and offers both vegan and non-vegan options. My husband and I ordered our respective dishes (I had the Jordanian Wrap, he had the grilled beef burrito), grabbed a kombucha from the cooler, and sat in the cafe. Our food was ready quickly and we devoured it with gusto. One of the owners came by to chat with us. The service was just as fabulous as the food. We would highly recommend Razan's to anyone in the area, whether dropping in for a bite or looking for some good carry out. read more

Wonderful little lunch nook near the western edge of the campus. Yelp says this place is Mexican but if anything it seems Middle Eastern to me. Think burritos meet hummus and shawarma. They offer vegan, vegetarian, and carnivorean options include the best roast chicken we've had in a while. On the slightly expensive side for an informal lunch but well worth it in terms of quality of food, friendliness, and amount of food. The salsa bar is easy to miss at the front of he restaurant. I devoured my shawarma wanting a bit more spice when my partner discovered where the hot stuff was. A more prominent sign would be helpful. read more

I liken this spot to a mediterranean deli. Tucked away around the corner from Shattuck, you have a few guys manning the grill/prepping the food and the lady at the register holding it down. They serve up organic, all natural, healthy eats with loads of options for vegetarians and vegans, but meat kebab, chicken, schawarma and even some salmon for those looking for more protein. Not in the mood for a wrap or burrito, and not looking for all that rice found in the plates, I opted for the salad with falafel (priced at $.75 each, I asked for 4) and some avocado (more of a guac with a $2 add). The salad was huge and tasty for the $12. Bright, fresh greens, a dash of hummus and the vegetable fixin's like cukes and tomatoes, it was hard not to love. I really appreciate this spot's efforts to provide healthy eating options. Steamed chicken and rice, sauteed vegetables and tofu and so forth. Not easy items to find when on the hunt for a quick lunch There are juices available and a few smoothie options. I would have loved to see more, but I get it, the place is super small. Fresh vegetarian and vegan options. Enjoyed my Egyptian wrap and pea soup. There is filtered water available. Customer Service could improve a bit. For instance, let the customer know about the filtered water and plate size. I ordered the wrap and soup and the portion was too much for one person. I bought a bottle of water before seeing a small spout on the side of the counter for water because a regular customer filled their cup. I don't like wasting food but I couldn't eat it all either. When venturing thru Berkeley I always find the time to stop by Razan's. I don't know what about wraps and burrito-like foods that get me coming back for more but it does! And to be vegetarian/vegan friendly?! Count me in! The shop itself is small with tables and chairs along the wall and limited seating upstairs. I don't suggest eating in if it's busy because it's super cramped. The upstairs is unorganized with kitchen gear stores along the wall. The bathroom is upstairs too and isn't friendly too tall people or people bigger in stature. At 5'5" my knees touched the door when I sat on the toilet. LOL. My suggestion is to grab something on the go but, if you find a place to sit why not?! Everything is freshly made and super flavorful. I haven't found a thing that I haven't liked. The hot sauces that they have out is a must with anything that you order in my opinion. Staff are welcoming and happy to answer questions and willing to wait when I need the time to look at their extensive menu to decide what I want to fill my belly with. Walked over from Shattuck Cinemas on a drizzly Wednesday. We were in shock after seeing The Big Short. Had a great sesame chicken wrap, my partner had the Egyptian wrap. We felt much better after eating! Delicious. Fresh. Friendly people, no facade. Very generous size, well balanced, flavor/crunch/smell. Customer service is a HUGE part of what I figure into a restaurant I like to go to... That being said, when we ordered they let us stand around didnt say take a seat or well call you and didnt take payment till the food was ready so I'm standing in the way for about 10 minutes. I am very impressed by the great degree of flavor in their food and their use of fresh, organic ingredients. Cons are that because they use organic, menu items are on the expensive side, considering that a wrap is $8. However, I come here a lot meaning that I enjoy it. -Egyptian Wrap: traditional wrap with falafels and hummus. But it has extremely strong flavors and falafels are decently soft on the inside and crispy on the outside -Veggie Lentil Soup: my favorite. It has extremely tasty and light soup with a lot of vegetables and lentils. And it comes with warm pita bread. I went today, on a whim. I've lived here for nine months and never checked the place out. I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian, and I get nervous about "healthy" eateries since they often just don't compete, flavor-wise, with other places. I just decided to go native, ordered a mushroom melt, stayed vegetarian for the day. It was surprisingly hearty, full of rice and beans and just enough cheese that it was flavorful but still felt healthy. Was a little bummed that they only had full-sugar organic sodas, but hey, I knew what I had signed up for. My only complaints: The space is too small, and the prices too large. This is a great lunch spot and my co-workers and I always walk pass it. My co-worker and I finally made the jump and decided to eat here. Knowing that this was the sister restaurant to Arabica, we knew we would like the food. I ordered the Egyptian wrap with baba ghanouj. I liked that the wrap was grilled and not just rolled. After biting into my wrap, all the flavors melded into one. It was delicious. The baba ghanouj added the extra flavor to the falafels that made it savory. Problem 1: like most restaurants, large and small, they have a hard time prioritizing which orders should come first: Uber Eats/Grub Hub and in-person, dine-in/take-out customers (customers who are in-store waiting for their food). Possibly why I waited a long time for my wrap. Problem 2: Uber Eats orders means they are now overextended and overworked. More orders in shorter timeframe with no increase in staff means margin of error is high. Was this why my burrito had hardly any spinach and like 2 walnuts? I paid $13+ for a tortilla filled with rice and beans. This is known as false advertising and means you are cheating and disrespecting your customers. Other possibilities: 1 the cost of food is so high that they stuffed my spinach wrap with rice? Solution: don't advertise it as a greens wrap if you don't have the greens to fill it, as unfortunate as that is. 2. Due to the drought a lot of food is unavailable so they were forced to stuff my spinach wrap with rice. 3. They don't want to buy/can't afford walnuts Solutions: same as above Suggestions: hire more employees, make better use of your upstairs space, use the upstairs to cook and downstairs for seating & stop false advertising/cheating Questions: where do the tips go? Who gets the tips? Are the tips taxed? Can I get a refund for my wrap that had hardly any spinach? Or at least another wrap? Can you confirm your food is organic? If so, how? read more

I work down the block from here and have been eating here 2-4 times a week for the past 8 months. That either means this restaurant is great or I live in a bubble. Recommendations: Lebanese wrap Super Nachos Breakfast burrito Chicken Shwarma The one problem with this place is that none of their wrap names make sense. There's a wrap that has hummus, cucumbers, and falafel and it's called an Egyptian wrap. I met up here with some friends, one of which is vegan. This was one of the few places that had enough vegan options that I could take her to. While 3/4 of us were omnivores, we were all satisfied with the food we got there. My roommate had a chicken quesadilla and the chicken was so juicy! He was happy even though he's usually an extremely picky eater. I got a shawarma wrap and it was pretty good. Not the best thing I've ever had, but pretty tasty and fresh. The other two were also satisfied with their wraps or burritos. My vegan friend was impressed, which is all I wanted for her. While this is not a place I would normally go to because I don't care that much about vegan/vegetarian options and not extremely concerned with "organic" foods (I assume all the fruits and vegetables in Berkeley are high quality anyway) but this place has something for everyone. Even us meat eaters can find something here. I generally like places where I can watch the food be prepared. This place definitely uses fresh ingredients and good quality meats. I've been meaning to try this place for some time, intrigued by it's self-proclaimed healthiness and the burritos (my favorite) on their menu. I ended up getting the Lebanese Wrap, though, which is a whole wheat wrap with hummus, lentil rice, tabouleh, baba ghanoush, tahini and sumac for $8.95. The standout of the wrap was the rice mixture: I don't know my grains so well and am not sure what lentils are, but the main carb portion of the wrap tasted like rice and beans and were very fragrant. I was absolutely starving when I came into Razan's so I finished off the whole wrap no problemo--I think their portion sizes would appropriate for one square meal even if I weren't famished, which is kind of refreshing among so many restaurants that overwhelm with quantity over quality. I'd say that it's a bit overpriced. I want to believe that you are getting what you pay for in the healthy-tasting and yummy aspects of their food, but I definitely could not make Razan's a go-to spot for me for the safety of my wallet. I do want to try their salmon burrito still, though it may take a special situation for me to feel like shelling out ~$12 for a meal. I would come again, but not super often. read more

Nice sticks out as by far the most appropriate descriptor. Their wraps feel healthy, simple, and have a pleasant amount of flavor from the hummus, meat, and grilled veggies (I've tried the Jerusalem and the Salmon Shish Kebab wraps). Nothing over the top, and not too large to be more than a normal-sized meal. Their salsas add some to the wrap, but most feel more suited to their Mexican-themed offerings. Small space with impressive variety in its menu, great food, and great service. Keep in mind that, for the fast-casual feel of the place, food is a little on the expensive end $11-$12+. However, the food really is excellent, and the menu is varied enough to appease pretty much any palate. The menu ranges from traditional Mediterranean-style wraps and plates to some pretty interesting fusion dishes. My go-to is the Tofu Shish Kebab Wrap, and it never disappoints. The staff are also extremely friendly and enthusiastic, and are a pleasure to interact with. Definitely don't forget the sauces that they keep on the side! They make their own unique sauces (e.g Sriracha mixed with yogurt) that taste great and really work well with the food. read more

This is an amazing hidden jewel of a place. It looks like a typical hole in the wall, but when you walk in, the color and warmth hit you hard. It's clean, decorated, and has great great service. The main problem is that the place is small, so staircase and 2nd floor are cramped. But if you're willing to overlook that, you'll admit this place is well kept. Now I didn't want to give five stars too early, but after taking a bite, I'm rest assured. The grass-fed beef here is fantastic!
