I went here last Friday with my daughter and son in law. The service was great, the atmosphere was relaxed and easy. The place was crowded but we waited less than five minutes for a table. They have several craft beers on tap including local choices. The beer cave and wine selections from the shelves are outstanding. We had the crab dip appetizer and it was delicious. I had the Sarge burger- yum! And my daughter had the Asian salmon club- that may be what I choose next time. My son in law chose the BLT pizza and loved it. I can't wait to go back! read more

It was an interesting relaxed atmosphere...loved the beer selection and its fun to bring your beers back to your table after pulling them out of the cooler. The burger I ordered was tasty but small however the salmon was pretty good. Would go back just for drinks and possibly try the pizza which I heard was good. read more

This place blows me away! Great food that picture perfect on the plate. No other place can I shop for a great selection of wines and craft beers then sit in the Resteraunt and enjoy all or part of it before going home. To cool.... I'll make this place a regular stop! I ordered take-out food from here I got the portabella mushroom sandwich and an a la cart side of red potatoes. I received a jumbled up mess in a box that had 5 potatoes total for my a la cart $4. My sandwich was missing hummus and I had a salad that I didn't order with a dressing I couldn't eat. The food was greasy and hardly filling unfortunately. I will say though overall that there selection of beer/wine is top notch but that may be the only saving grace for the place. I hope they can turn the "food" side around. read more

I live in the area and we definitely could use more restaurants like Rays. The food was fresh and tasty. Trout app was to die for and the pizzas were pretty good. You can choose a bottle of wine from the attached wine store and drink it there for a 5$ corking fee. You can also get wine by the glass and beer on tap or bottles. I wish that there had been a wine by the glass and a beer list because it's kind of hard to order when you don't know what you have to choose from. Only other thing I would mention is that there aren't a ton of vegetarian options: they have the usual uninventive mushroom sandwich and hummus dish that restaurants have for vegetarians: nothing original and not too many options for veggies read more

Took a wrong turn at the I-70 exit and decided to try this place. We love fresh, sustainable food. So glad we stopped. Multitude of wine and beer to choose from. I had the portabella with salmon. We took a chance on this new restaurant because it is close to our house. We couldnt have been more pleased, our expectations were exceeded.The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The food is TERRIBLE. I have been there 4 times. The first 2 times the food was bad but edible. The second 2 times (a year apart from each other) I sent the food back and couldn't even eat. The pastrami was 99% tough fat and there was a black hair in the store bought 'mix of greens' The last (and final) visit, the hamburger sliders that I ordered well done came out bleeding. Literally a grease/blood mixture was pouring out of the meat. Mr. Ray recooked the meat (sort of) and put it back on the rock hard, greasy, blood soaked buns I had initially. The music is cool. The selection of booze is awesome. But the kitchen and the people that work in it.....should reevaluate. Its awful. read more

I have lived in the Dayton area for years and I can't believe this place doesn't get more press. The food was great!! We had the salmon quesadilla and the salmon entree and they were both prepared to perfection. I can't wait to go back! I went to Ray's this week as part of a Mom's Night Out event with a local moms group. There are not enough positive words to describe what a pleasant experience I had at this restaurant. The atmosphere was bustling (we were there during their Wednesday wine tasting) and I looked around. Everyone was happy. It sounds weird, but this is always a good sign at a restaurant. When people eat and convene if they aren't laughing, the food usually isn't that great :) When our party arrived someone greeted our table and let us know that all the vegetables were organic, all the meat was locally raised, the menu could be made gluten free or vegan and that they had organic and gluten free beers and wines available. I was impressed, but when I looked at the menu's prices, my jaw dropped. I had expected (upon hearing all the great things about the restaurant) for the prices to rival those of Olive, an Urban Dive in downtown Dayton. I was floored when the prices were so reasonable. Not only did our server come to check on us, but the owner of the establishment and someone who I assume was the chef or a worker from the kitchen. Someone from our party inquired about the potential for some hummus and veggies (they didn't have that as an appetizer but they did have the ingredients from other dishes) and the server let us know they didn't have that option but that she would certainly ask the Chef. The Chef sent out a duo of hummus and chips. My husband and I have not been on a date since my son was born 3 months ago and I informed him that when we do go out for the first time we will be going to Ray's! read more

Wow is right. Great menu - my buddy & I had a tough time choosing. I had the Open Tuscan Sandwich, based on another reviewer's recommendation. It was huge, fresh, delicious...I could go on. My friend had the Barnyard Sandwich - this is what a sandwich should be. Piled high with obviously fresh meets and a sandwich were you could actually taste the cheese. Huge beer selection - I had the flight, which was 4 4-ounce glasses filled to the top. We spllit the Salted Caramel Mousse for desert - and the server brought it out in two individual cups. Normally Ray's is a wonderful place to dine and hangout. But on Wednesday this past week we had an experience that makes me wonder what's going on. We arrived and purchased some items to spend time on the patio with. After taking a seat we watched a waitress dressed in what looked like her pajamas come out and wait on another couple that had already been there. In the hour plus that we were there we saw her about 6-7 times but never did she approach our table or even ask from a distance if we needed anything. With the way she was dressed and her demeanor it made me think I was at home rather than a normal fine dining establishment. Only have 2 stars because we have had great past experiences. read more
