The fries were nicely cooked and salted, but $8 was a lot for the amount given. $4 would have made more sense. And then yes, I'm even going to mention the iced tea. Because there are not very many restaurants I go to that offer a freshly brewed iced tea, which is one of my favorite drinks. It really makes the meal perfect and I appreciate a freshly brewed tea vs a canned one. Staff is nice and brought water for my dog too.

My daughter and I split the French toast which was excellent and the Eggs Benedict (with salmon instead of Canadian bacon) also excellent?! It was soooo loud in the dining room that we had to yell at each other and repeat ourselves to understand each other?! The coffee was forty forevers coming to the table after we ordered....and then our meal as good as it was took forever to come out. A couple seated next to us came in after us but had their food and finished and were leaving when ours FINALLY came out of the kitchen :( IF we go again we will eat outside and only in good weather.

I had the BLTA with Fries. The first bite was a flavor explosion in my mouth! These people know how to properly season food! Crispy bacon, juicy tomatoes, ripe avocados, all on a perfectly soft grain bread. And the fries were excellent as well! My friends all enjoyed their meals as well. They also have very fun mocktails. My friends and I tried three different types and they were all delicious. This was a standout meal. Now I can't wait to try it for dinner!

I could tell that the butter was house made and asked for extra because it was that good. Had the beef duo as the main course. I found it to be satisfying and also much better value than the steak frites. All of the items I received were very detail oriented and as well as fresh. We were seated on one side on the restaurant that I believe was blocked off for more special occasions. The other side of the restaurant seemed to have tables placed more closely to one another. Our server consistently checked on us throughout the night to make sure we were okay. Overall I was very satisfied with the service that I received here as well as with the food.

I love how we were greeted with energy and they were truly happy to see us. This walk to our upstairs table was like getting a tour. We requested a table that would allow us to have easy conversation with our friends who were joining. And it was a great table, looking down on the main dining room. The only real dig I had was the lack of lighting upstairs. I literally could not see the beauty of my dishes because it was too dark. There was a flickering light above us which was taped over, but I do think they need to reconsider whether it's bigger candles, or even some type of table lighting. Wines by the glass, would have hoped for a bigger selection. The white cranberry cosmo was terrific. Great menu! French traditional favorites coupled with a creative collection of Spanish and Italian dishes as well. Chicken, beef, and super great choices of fish. I honestly didn't spend time looking at appetizers as I went right to the salads and entrees. And yes, interesting creative selection of salads. I had a beet and hummus salad. My wife had a kale and grapefruit salad and there were others to choose from, with the exception of no Caesar nor plain house for the boring pallet. I had scallops and pistachios and it was very good. There was branzino and also a beef duo of flank steak and oxtail ordered. All the dishes were really well prepared, seasoned and beautifully presented. Again, I would have enjoyed seeing what was on my fork for each bite. Dessert menu was okay. I thought a bit overpriced and just not overly appealing. Too many caramel offerings, and not enough diversity. We did offer their version of a chocolate lava cake but it was like a tapas portion of dessert. It was good, but 3 bites worth, hardly shareable. It would be unfair not to mention the great service. Our waiter was chill, let us chat away for over 3 hours. Never felt rushed and all his helpers knew exactly who was getting what. Well done .... I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The bread was soft and tasty. The calamari was light and ok. My date enjoyed her pasta; said she always gets it when she comes here. My tagliatelle pasta was DELICIOUS. This one pound mozzarella stick definitely fulfilled that criteria. It was so gigantic it was almost like getting a workout in just to lift it. The outside was heavily breaded with bread crumbs and the top was sprinkled with parmesan cheese and chopped scallions. Even the dipping cup was supersized to accommodate the diameter of the stick! Typically, I would have posted until after my I finished my oversized food compilation project. However, it's being posted early because The Brookdale is permanently closing its doors. I am truly sad to hear they will no longer be in business, but their three sister restaurants at 1109 Broad Street will still remain open. #thebrookdale #thebigcheese #bloomfieldnj
