We came here for breakfast and ordered an Iced Mocha Latte, a regular hot coffee, Huevos Rancheros and the French Toast Melt. The Iced Mocha Latte was awesome and was dripping in chocolate syrup, but was not too sweet. However, the regular coffee was very small and bitter. As for the food, I love a french toast sandwich but I felt like this one had too much bacon and cheese on it, and on top of this, it was slathered with a big chunk of butter. It felt very a bit heavy for breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros were a bit better. I really like how Ray's lets you choose between all different kinds of sausages from an array of South American countries. The entire menu is actually very cool because it feels like American/Latino breakfast fusion. The waitress was very patient while explaining all the different kinds of chorizo to my husband, and overall the service was excellent. I am knocking off one more star for the ambiance. The restaurant is very cute but the indoor seating seemed very cramped. We decided to sit outside because of this, but I ended up having water dripping on me from the roof the entire time (it wasn't raining, so I guess this was from an air conditioner?). The outdoor seating is also close to the road in a pretty busy part of Montclair, which for me was a bit hectic for breakfast.

Small place, with a HUGE HEART! Everything on their menu has amazing flavor and taste, been coming here for almost 13 years, and even today, they made me a special plate... Keeping it interesting! No special occasion, I'm just a Mickey Fan and so I got a surprise when I ordered pancakes. They serve with love and that's what makes them so different, whether it's your first time or hundredth. Once your hooked, your hooked... Try it once, love it forever!

Great food, service and history! Love the Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, salt pepper and ketchup! And the disco fries! Excellent fries with gravy and melted mozzarella cheese. So nice to see the pictures of my Uncle Ray up on the wall. Rays still delivers the full experience. Friends, food and family!

I love this place. Super tiny and not a lot of tables but the food is delicious and the staff is super nice. I love the menu choices and their prices are amazing compared to the surrounding restaurants.

The staff is fantastic, friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, but the real star is the food. To start, we shared the Buttermilk Biscuit, Duck Fat Tater Tots, and the Beet & Citrus Salad. That salad... I'm still dreaming about it. The biscuit was equally delicious and will definitely be my go to from now on. The tater tots, while okay, lacked a bit of flavor. It did pair as well with the salad, but lone was lacking something. For the entree, I had the Breakfast Sandwich and also got a taste of the Brunch Tostada. Both were incredible, but the sandwich stole the show for me. The biscuit is absolutely top tier, and the chorizo sausage patty was perfectly spiced not too hot, just the right kick and paired beautifully with the rest of the sandwich. And the lattes? Simply amazing. Honestly, I'm in love with this place and can't wait to go back. The Saint Clair has officially converted me into a brunch fan and already have the date to go back.

Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. The inside has both a main dining hall and a greenhouse, which feels like basically sitting on a covered patio with well kept shrubbery and ambient lighting. It's a neat balance of modern and open while still feeling cozy. I think my favorite dish is the ramp fava bean toast -- the umami from the purée balanced with the crunch of the toast and the brightness from the pickled ramps. I'd also recommend the steak two ways -- both cuts cooked perfectly to medium rare -- and the lobster linguine was delicately fragrant, buttery, and slightly acidic all at once. The chips and eggplant dip (kind of like hummus consistency) was kind of a fun, shareable starter too. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the ceviche or branzino our waiter recommended it. The branzino particularly came out a bit dry, and more of the tomato-olive-caper side or dressing would've helped. And while our waiter answered our questions, service felt a little more on the less attentive side.

Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it.
