I really had to sit on the thought of writing this review after a somewhat heated discussion with Dan. I have been to Ray Scott Automotive a number of times. I originally took my Ram 1500 for an oil change and they did a great job for a great price! Their prices are extremely fair, I give them that. However, let me warn you that they do not call prior to working on your vehicle, I was never informed how much it was going to be to "fix" my AC, they just went ahead and worked on it, and expected me to fork out $400 for Freon. Ok, I paid and was a little unhappy that I was never informed how much it would cost. The next day, my AC still wasn't working. Mind you it was 98 degrees, with no AC having to drive my daughter across town to soccer practice. I spoke with one of the mechanics and was informed to take it back and that they would look at it. Well again, they worked on it without consent and now expected me to pay another $200 to "fix" the original problem I took it in for. Dan was argumentative saying "it was fixed the first time" and demanded that I pay. This review is simply to caution others, and share my experience with Ray Scott Automotive. read more

Friendly, quick, efficient, reasonably priced. My turn signals have been shorting out forever. My old mechanic claimed it was some fuse-box housing thing in the steering column and charged $100 - $200 for a temporary fix (they shorted out again 2 weeks later, after we moved to Tucson). The guys here traced the short to the trunk, of all places. They dug under three years of grad school garbage to find the jack wedged up against some fuse, causing it to short out (according to my vague understanding of how a car works). Kudos to them for isolating the real source of the problem, fixing it in way less than 24 hours, charging a reasonable price, and not judging me too harshly for being an adult with a car so disgusting it looks like a pack of hobos live in the trunk. read more

I am really surprised by these good reviews. I went there a couple of years ago and was charged for Labor and parts that were never done or added. When I talked to the old man in charge and explained and showed him the parts that weren't added or the labor that wasn't touched. He told me his guys make mistakes then threw 50$ at me and called it even. Talk about disrespect! read more

Ray Scott's Garage is a life saver! So of course my partner and I waited until the last minute before we took our 2006 PT Cruiser to emissions so we can register it. And of course our luck, the car fails emissions :( So we decide to take it to Ray Scott's Garage because they are a family owned, local business. We wanted to avoid the big chain garages as much as we could; i.e. Brake Max, Fletcher's, etc. Well, they took a look at what the emissions report stated we failed at and went to fix the problem right away. They were friendly, courteous, quick, educational and charged us a price that was very competitive! Needless to say, we went back today for our retest and we passed!! Thank you Danny Scott and Co.! I recently bought a cheaper car from craigslist knowing that some work needed to be done. I took the car to Ray Scott's Auto and they were excellent to work with. I was informed of all necessary items that needed to be done ASAP to ensure safety driving the car. They then informed me of other items that I should keep my eye on but wouldn't affect day-to-day driving. My 200th review! Whoo! This place doesn't look like much from the outside or even the inside but don't let that fool you. They do a good job for a good price. Don't expect any bells or whistles-- these guys are mechanics and that's what they focus on. Overall this is a good place to take your car for repairs. If you have any questions just call them and they are good with accommodating you. I like supporting small businesses like this. Tip-- They don't have a shuttle service (which is probably part of the reason their prices are lower) so make sure you've got a ride lined up. read more

*AVOID* I purchased a used Acura two weeks ago, the previous owner took the car to Ray Scott's to replace the front right strut mount. Today at the Acura dealership (90 days later) while doing scheduled maintenance they noticed the right strut was sagging. Upon further inspection there is now damage to the strut, drive shaft, and the inside CV boot. The mechanic pointed out to me that the bolt connecting the strut to the lower arm was not torqued correctly and caused sever damage. After speaking with Ray Scott himself he told me he would not help me because the warranty doesn't cover a transferred car. I reminded him that it was the negligence of his mechanics that caused the damage, and that this is a serious safety concern. Ray Scott agreed with me that the bolt was most likely not torqued properly by his mechanics. Yet he still refused to assist in any way, even telling me at one point that he does not stand behind his mechanics. The serious negligence and incompetence of Ray Scott and mechanics caused undue damage to the brand new strut. I am now having to go through the process in a small clams court, and have filed complaints through the Better Business Bureau. As an Air Force air craft mechanic I could go to jail if I made similar incompetent errors. If that one very important bolt was not torqued correctly what else is being over looked? read more

We are permanent residents in Tucson for about a year now ,and after a bad experience with another auto repair facility,we finally found Ray Scotts. Thank God.. Had work done on our motor home for drive line problem with great results and fair price. We took the Mtr Hm back for Checking the brakes.
