This was my first time trying the Pantano location since they had an earlier opening, and I was really impressed. I was having some hiccups with my car, and there was a little miscommunication at first about the problem. However, we quickly sorted out what the issue really was, and the team went above and beyond. They had my car fixed in less than 24 hours and even chose not to charge me for the additional work. The gentleman at the front desk told me they appreciate our service, which really showed me how much they value their customers and the relationships they build. They were receptive to feedback, willing to work with me, and truly earned my trust. Brought my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to diagnose a transmission slipping problem. They said it was low a quart and added it. They did not claim that was the fix. Never got an accurate diagnosis which isn't my complaint. I went to swap the transmission out. Before I started I checked the fluid level. It was overfilled by about a quart. While not the cause of my problems, I nonetheless paid for that extra quart and it can damage a transmission. They advertise expertise in transmissions but yet they made such a simple mistake. The should at least remove the claim about being transmissions. read more

Many years ago when I had less money I drove high mileage used cars. Every breakdown was a drag. Encounters with a service shops most often were not pleasant. Rarely was I treated fairly though there were rare exceptions. Eventually I became more successful and for the past 25 years I live by a specific rule regarding automobiles. I will not own any vehicle not under factory warranty. Not for one day. That means I own no cars past their factory warranty. So, no keeping cars past warranty and no cool vintage collectible cars. Life is too short to be hustled by a post warranty service center. Especially shops backed up with heavily used cars. I feel sorry for these struggling folks with broken cars as most shops pillage them. At least factory dealerships if you are off warranty have to follow some factory guidelines. But small shops pillage. Recently I needed to use an old Ford van for a film production. And so I wanted it to be reliable for the filming period. Unfortunately that meant bringing it to an automotive shop fixing older cars out of warranty. I wont go into specifics regarding my experience with Monsoon Automotive. I will simply say I do not recommend them and would not for any reason bring any vehicle to them again. read more

Super honest guy! My younger brother's truck went through emissions for the first time since moving from Texas. There was an electrical challenge with the computer port under the steering column. He and I checked the fuse box, found a mid sized fused but immediately blew the replacement of the correct amps. Monsoon could have charged us for hours and hours and hours of electrical diagnosis and while I would have been bummed I would have been none the wiser. They found the problem quickly (after market cig lighter), and pulled the lighter from the socket. They continued with some diagnostics through the hour we were already going to be billed for and got us back on the road. My vehicle's air conditioner was blowing warm air; it had been recharged a year ago at an A/C specialty shop-- they did not find a leak and it never really felt cold, and a couple months later was back to warm air. Took the truck to Monsoon today, and they got me right in after quoting a very fair price to check and re-charge the system. They also found a couple o-rings that were suspected to be leaking and replaced them at no charge. After just a short wait, I'm back to having wonderfully cold A/C for under $70! Yesterday, I unfortunately had a dead battery that wouldn't start even with a jump. I called Monsoon and they gave me the number to their preferred towing service. The tow truck was at my home within minutes and rushed to try and get me and my car delivered to Monsoon by 5:15pm. They actually close at 5pm but Seth at Monsoon was kind enough to offer to stay over to replace my dead battery. When I arrived, they did not have a battery in stock and Seth kindly called around to find one at a good price. The battery wasn't delivered to us until 6pm and as soon as it arrived, Seth installed the new battery and my car ran beautifully. I'm addition, they didn't even charge me for anything but the cost of the tow and the cost of the new battery! I can't thank Seth enough for taking such great care of me! Being new to the area, I was dubious about the possibility of finding a good mechanic who was competent and fair-priced. I read the reviews here and took a chance. I was met by Seth at the front counter. We was friendly and got me in and out the same day. I had a bad wheel bearing in a Lexus ES350. The charge was about 150.00 less than other garages and several hundred less than the dealer (no surprise there). My car is back to tip top. All around, it was a great experience. I can't find a way to edit my previous review, which was a two-star because they fixed something that was not broken ($700 worth of brakes that did not yet need replacing) and my problem remained. I figured out what was wrong, (the Hill Hold on a stick shift Subaru, not a common problem) and they were willing to disconnect it on my word. That solved the problem, and there was no charge. Fantastic mechanics. They fixed a problem that two other mechanics in town didn't have a clue about how to deal with.

So my car for the last few months had issues with 2 of the windows not being able to close. I tried to call several places even the mainstream pep boys for a quote on what it would take to fix it. Turns out it was the "regulators" that were messed up which is why the windows could never go up. So I called one of the guys over here, I think his name was "Sean," he offered $600-ish to fix it while other places wanted between $800 - $1,200. Anyway, I dropped off my car I believe was on a Tuesday and at the end of my shift I picked it up and it was good as new. I went to their second location which is on Tanque Verde just NE of the Kolb/TV intersection. I have lived in Tucson 30+ years and this is literally the first time I have found a competent, honest, and reasonably priced mechanic. I had a few things wrong with my 2005 Forester and thought it was going to be big bucks to fix it. Turns out the heater wasn't working because "somehow" something mechanical had gotten disconnected under the dash; not broken but disconnected. I know where I took it last, know that they "fixed" something that did not need fixing, and.....etc. Monsoon fixed everything I asked for at very reasonable price and talked to me as if I had a working mind to boot. Last week I needed to get my Lexus checked out because of a strange noise I had been hearing for a couple of weeks. Based on Yelp reviews I took a chance and took it to Monsoon Automotive. Small place but very clean looking. Seth listend to the noise and thought it might be the water pump. Took it back the next day to have it checked out. I asked them to do an oil change while they had it. It turned out to be the water pump. Seth said I needed new brake pads which did not surprise me. They finished by the next morning. So far so good, the noise is gone and the car is very quiet. Seth seems to know his business. Would definitely go back in the future. read more
