Super disappointing. It was one of the worst sushi experience I've ever had. My husband ordered the bento box with chicken. The chicken was super slimy, and full of fat. I ordered three rolls, California roll, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura -- again SUPER disappointing and inedible. The shrimp tempura wasn't even fully cooked and had uncooked batter all over it. Not to mention that three out of the six tempura rolls had nothing but batter in them. I really wanted to love this place since we just moved to neighborhood and had high hopes since it has so many good reviews. Not sure what other people are ordering but I will not be returning. read more

RAWR Sushi - Spicy crunchy salmon top, eel and avocado on bottom - Sushi Bars Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

Hit all my three points. Food was the best in the area, freshness and taste. I'm picky when it comes to sushi. Friendly service and reasonable price for the lunch I ordered. My third time there and will go back again soon. Only thing I had issue with was I couldn't find the place when I went for the first time, not complaining it on the restaurant, but it is how this Springfield plaza set up. Now it's fine. read more

Great go-to neighborhood sushi spot. Good prices, great quality. Small establishment, and I've only gotten carryout, so I can't speak to the dining service or atmosphere. There are lots of selections to choose from to keep things interesting. We have never been disappointed with any of our selections! read more

I have such a soft spot for cheap food places especially Japanese food because everyone somehow decided that ramen should cost $14 and California rolls should cost $8. Insane I know. I was initially attracted to this place because of the insanely cheap prices. $4.5 for NOT a California roll? That's pretty much unheard of. I had to try it out! I went during lunch and decided to do take out. I got two rolls lunch special: spicy crunchy salmon and the eel avacado. 6 pc in each roll and it came with a side of miso soup and a soda. All for $9 is A DANG good deal. I was pretty excited. The sushi was pretty good. I really liked the spicy salmon and wished there was something else in it like avocado or cucumber. I did find a bone in my eel which kinda sucked. My brother got the chicken teriyaki don which came with miso soup (yes he should have gotten the bento box...) for 7.50. The chicken teriyaki don didn't seem like much from the picture so I would definitely suggest the bento box if you are there for lunch. It's only $8. Overall average to above average experience here. I would give it a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 for its price. Also, the place really gives off that family atmosphere. read more

The food was very good. Fresh ingredients. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box which was chicken and rice, no vegetables. It came with salad, miso soup and 6 pc California roll. Min order for GrubHub was $20. I also ordered a rainbow roll. My miso soup was missing but GrubHub credited my bento box for the mistake. read more

This is a pretty good local sushi spot in Springfield. They have a large menu with special rolls that are priced fairly. They were very quick with my order and had it ready as soon as I walked in. During covid the seating area is closed and they are only offering take-out. Honestly that's fine with me, it's totally worth it for some good sushi in Springfield! read more

One of the best to-go sushi places! They have amazing lunch deals and the quality of fish tastes fresh. I wish they offer more miso soup for the lunch deal, but the classic rolls fill you up. read more

Give this place 5 stars because it's quality and value in one. It's not your fancy sushi restaurant but it's fresh and tasty. Try the dragon roll. Great special for lunch Monday through Sat!!! Service is speedy and friendly too. Not sure why a few people want to complain but you can't please some people. Today I'm trying the snowman roll and a $9 lunch combo of 2 basic rolls you choose, miso soup, and a drink. Haven't even made it to the ramen or other Japanese dishes yet but I'll be back. read more

Life Changing Sushi? Probably not butttttttttt they take delivery orders through the Yelp app which means: 1) Sweatpants 2) Binging on Sushi Themed Shows on Netflix 3) Not having to talk to a single person ever (Am I the only person who just asks delivery people to leave the order at the front door? Tipping from the app has change my life) I like to play it safe with the California + Spicy Tuna Rolls and have not been disappointed. Everything is tasty and well priced which is exactly what delivery sushi should be. Even better they are the FASTEST delivery in all of Springfield -- like I barely pressed send and they are already at my door. Their delivery people are faster than drones. Give this place a try! read more

Absolutely rude management. I literally got clapped on as i was walking away after voicing my concern. They make such a big deal over tipping. I'm not against tipping - I prefer to wait until my delivery has gone well AND THEN I'll tip. Before even the food was ready or on the way - I was called four (4) times & left messages - you'd think it's something there was something particularly wrong with what I ordered to warrant four calls. NEVER AGAIN - they do not value customers. You'd think during this covid-19 pandemic they'd be a little more attentive to their behavior. Not these guys. Never seen anything like it. As I walked away (and refused to take the food) they clapped and said "WE DON'T CARE". Shocking fact and absolutely flummoxed by their abysmal behavior. Alsis, stop lying in public as that will certain ruin whatever is left of that store you call a business. I NEVER threw food at you. I hope you have cameras in there to show that I dropped it on the counter and walked away if anyone wanted to see exactly what happened. OH and to note: the manager (Alsis) is SO RACIST (see last screenshot) based on his response to my initial review. WOW! WOW! It's so unbelievable it's comical, frankly. How exactly do you determine someone is "not American"? Please, I'm curious. You need to take some lessons on what customer service/responding to criticism entails. Shame on you! read more

While in the area we decided to give this place a try since its been bookmarked like for the longest tme. The place was small and neat. There's a counter where u place your orders either to go or dine in. The same lady who takes your order does the serving. Food was freshly cooked. My favorite was the tempura shrimp roll. Had the sashimi entree served with miso and rice. Total of 5 kinds of fish served 2 slices per fish. Overall a decent experience. read more

I've been coming here for a couple years and it's now my go-to place when I'm in the mood for Japanese food. First off, the prices are fantastic. You might associate any dining experience that involves Japanese food with a hefty bill. Rawr sushi is here to prove you can have top tier quality Japanese cuisine for the same cost as a meal at IHOP. The staff is extremely friendly. They always greet me with a smile and seem more than happy to strike up a conversation. It's like talking to a friendly neighbor whenever I come in. The food is delicious. I personally recommend the Spicy Miso Ramen. The broth is the definition of going to Flavortown. The Pork Chashu is so savory and delectable. I like letting it sit in the broth for a minute so it can soak up all the flavor possible before I absolutely devour it. So so good. read more

Want some fast and delish sushi? Come here! Proud to say that I will be a regular here. Food is super tasty! I've gotten the pork katsu curry multiple times and it never fails to disappoint. Affordable sushi & ramen without paying the prices of the popular spots in Arlington/Mosaic area of NoVA. Don't let the disposable utensils and plates scare you off - this place is cost efficient to give you GOOD prices! About $8.50 ramen, $4 rolls and you get complimentary soda and miso soup/salad. The spicy miso ramen is where its at, the ramen came out PIPING HOT. & I couldn't be happier with my go-to rolls: eel & spicy tuna. The workers were all very friendly, I wish there were more sushi spots like this around Maryland. The only place I can would be able to compare this one to would be Yogogi Sushi in Gaithersburg, MD. Would definitely come back! read more

An intimate little place with great prices, and even greater sushi! It's more of a self-serve but they do come give out your food and clean up. A little daughter of the owner (or worker) was out helping clean up and she was s' cute :') Nigiri + sashimi is great and so are their rolls, they definitelyyyyy don't skimp. 10/10 would recommend, & i'm def coming back to try other stuff read more

Honestly speaking, the food wasn't out of this world. That being said, the price is actually unreasonably cheap when you compare it with nearly every other sushi and ramen place in Nova that charges college tuition prices. I would consider a 5 star rating, but the atmosphere is just a bit TOO mom-and-pop for my preference. For example, my takoyaki came out in a small styrofoam bowl. If they renovated the suite and invested a bit into just styling it up, I would gladly recommend going here with others. In its current state, it feels just a little too dingy for me to want to bring someone I'm trying to impress. read more

Prices are very reasonable. Good quality of food and amazing service. I'm a Japanese who loves sushi and ramen. Most of sushi places are overpriced with an ok quality in my opinion. The quality of RAWR Sushi is so much better than fancier sushi places. I highly recommend RAWR sushi!!! read more

Great sushi place. I was debating because of the mixed reviews but they definitely exceeded my expectations! The people were very friendly and nice. The fish was fresh, not too much rice like some other places and fair prices! Highly recommended for a sushi night at home! read more

Yelp not often do you fail me but tonight was the rare exception. A sushi restaurant with 4.5 stars and lists of reviews. Am I rating the same place. Maybe the other reviews are for the soup but whatever it is I would not recommend coming here for the sushi. Everything tasted mushy and not very flavorful. The quality was almost supermarket quality vs a restaurant with so many stars. The miso soup is just broth no miso. The food was blah. Oh well. It was worth a try. But eww. I changed the review to one star due to the aggressiveness of the owner on the comment of the review. I am especially concerned that the owner does not understand that maybe the food was off or just not good that day. Maybe accept responsibility and ask the customer to come back rather than be rude and have someone else comment on my account that says "fark my momma". read more

We'd been meaning to come for over a year and weren't disappointed! We loved the casual atmosphere, friendly-but-not-invasive employees/owners, and great sushi! My husband said, "And you don't have to leave an enormous tip since there isn't technically wait-service!" We'll be back! read more

RAWR's sushi platers can feed a family of 4 for a reasonable price. I personally prefer if the sushi had a little more rice but it's definitely good. I think it's more authentic the way they make it. And as you can see from the response by the owner it apparently comes from the top down. Since you (the owner) obviously do not understand what a TIP is...here is the dictionary definition that you can acquaint yourself with- gratuity noun gra·tu·i·ty | \ gr-tü--tē , -tyü- \ plural gratuities Definition of gratuity : something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service especially : TIP added a gratuity for the server The driver walks already paid and tipped through the app, but decided he wanted more, and as you can see above, it is something given voluntarily NOT as a hostage negotiation point for someone's order. If YOU AND YOUR STAFF DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT MEANING THEN MAYBE YOU NEED TO REMOVE DELIVERY AS AN OPTION. Oh and in case you missed it, my job placed a restriction on pickup to ensure that we did not have to leave for lunch, which allows us to serve our customers better and faster...something you would do well to improve on yourself. read more

This is possibly the best hidden gem in all of NOVA. If you haven't tried this place yet, do it ASAP. The quality of food for the price cannot be beat. I've been here a handful of times and always have a great experience. The chefs are really friendly and are generous with all portions. I love that there's never really a wait here and you can always get a seat. The salmon sashimi is probably the best deal for the quality/quantity in the area. Thick pieces of buttery fresh salmon sashimi served over rice. Simple but yet so good. The Katsu Curry is AMAZING. Huge deep fried pork chop with amazing brown curry served over rice. If I don't get the salmon sashimi, this is my go to. Each entree is served with miso soup that actually tastes really good and not watered down like others. Hands down 5 stars for this place. I love this place!! Just the name of the restaurant is adorable. The people there are really friendly. We ordered the Okinawa ramen, the snowman sushi, and the chicken katsu curry. Miso soup was served with our meal and my friend had the shishimi dish. The ramen was amazing. The broth had so much flavor, the pork meat was so tender that every bite just fell off. Bamboo shoots are always fun to eat. Snowman sushi roll was really good even though I hate mayonnaise. I think it's California roll topped with seared salmon. Every bite was delicious. Katsu chicken was pretty tasty, i enjoyed the crunchy chicken. The curry paste was ok, I didn't really like their curry, it wasn't spicy and it was kinda thick. Overall I would definitely come back!! read more

I have to start this review by mentioning something. If you are looking for your typical upscale sit down expensive sushi spot, this is not the place. Many people have reviewed this as "the best sushi ever" (they probably live in Springfield or Woodbridge). And while I love coming here, the place rocks, the price is affordable and the sushi is very very delicious, it isn't your typical sushi spot. Don't let that preamble scare you. This is far from bad sushi. This type of place should have its own category. I don't know what to call it. Maybe like Counter Sushi, or Cafe Sushi? Its very fresh fish...like you wouldn't believe it looking at the place but its like really good. The place is located in a strip mall. You order and pay first at the counter. They give you all trashable plates and silverware. Its designed for togo business. There are only a few tables and it feels kind of like a deli. For Cafe Sushi, I give it 5 stars, I don't see how a place could be better. The sushi chef is a BAW$ too. The prices are great for the quality you get. It isn't as expensive as regular sushi but it isn't trash sushi like at an all you can eat buffet or a grocery store. If you like sushi from Harris Teeter then this place is Ruth's Chris. I order the sushi and sashimi and I love it. The miso soup is eh, and the salad...my goodness they may as well call it dressing with a side of lettuce. I know nothing of the world, but I imagine in Japan there are places like this. You don't find places like this in the area, which makes it very unique, which makes it even more cool. RAWR! The menu has many more items, but when I review sushi spots I review the sushi and sashimi. Overall, I recommend you eat here at least once and check it out. It won't be what you expect, but it should be surprising. I'll be coming back often. read more

We stopped by to dine in but found out it was take out only (google mapped said otherwise.) so we ordered online right before 3pm and picked it up at 315pm. Order was ready on time no issue. I have attached an updated menu and pics of what I got. I got the Chirashi bowl and the pork tonkatsu bowl. The contents of the chirashi bowl were supposed to be a variety of fish on top of sushi rice and I got 2 pieces salmon, 2 pieces white fish, 2 pieces tuna, two pieces imitation crab, 2 pieces tamago, 1 shrimp, 1 eel, and mushrooms. If I'd had know that the bowl came with the egg, shrimp, mushroom and imitation crab- I would not have gotten it. I recommend not getting it and getting sake don (salmon bowl) instead Bc you get more fish. There was too much rice to fish ratio in my opinion. It tasted good though. The only issue I had with the bowl was the tuna- it was sort of tough and stringy? But the everything else like the salmon and eel was tasty. I also got the pork tonkatsu curry bowl. The curry was tasty- very flavorful. It was quite spicy though. Maybe medium level. And the description on the menu posted didn't mention it being spicy and there was no option to adjust spice level when we ordered online. The pork tonkatsu was crispy but the pork meat itself was dry. Still tasty though. I would def come back. It was good for the price. read more

I discovered this place by accident but I love it; it's a smaller place but that makes it even more welcoming! The food is good, the service is quick, and the price is affordable. They have always been great with my family when we've gone and they do everything they can to accommodate. They are currently closed for dine-in due to covid and I'm glad they offer take out for the health of everyone. It's always a pleasure to go in and see some friendly and familiar faces. I'm comfortable knowing that I'll be taken care of and my food will be great quality as usual. My go-to is the tonkastu ramen and it never disappoints but bento boxes are a hit here too. The sushi is good as well and the ingredients are fresh (never even slightly browning avocado like I've had at other places). I'll keep coming back for the friendliness and the food. read more
