    Shrimp hibachi - yummy.

A great spot to enjoy sushi and hibachi. Service is attentive without hovering. Prices are reasonable, and the food is good. This is my go to spot.

Incredibly nice service, the staff were on top of everything. My son was absolutely spoiled by the waitress, he loved it. The food was so good! I think the best crab ragoons we've had here. Kani salad was huge and delicious. The rolls though, so good! Huge rolls and served so neatly creating a display! Can't wait to go back, this is my sushi spot now

Taiko is by far the best sushi restaurant I have been to in Northern VA. The service was beyond top notch and the sushi was incredible. I got Fatty Tuna, Fatty Salmon, spicy tuna rolls, eel, pork katsu and rock shrimp. Every piece was amazing and I will be back. The aesthetic and ambiance was very nice. Love the cherry blossom them and their attention to detail. Like out each dish had a unique plate. At the end we had an incredible desert that had two different mochis, Japanese cheesecake and a sort of coffee tiramisu cake. Each dessert was delicious. We also made sure to leave with a Thai Iced Tea Cindy was our server and she is the best. If you haven't been here yet, you must visit. Very unassuming from the outside but well worth a trip.

My family and I love sushi and we order from here often. The food is always good whether it's sushi or noodles or anything from the Chinese kitchen. They always give us a dessert or something on the house probably because we come so much and we highly appreciate it!

Wonderful sushi. You must come and try.

Excellent sushi. Sake is good too. Service is warm and friendly. I will be back. Wasabi could be just a little stronger. But all in all, a great place to eat.

Why can I order them for delivery but not carryout??

Haven't eaten there yet so can't comment on the food, but your online ordering system needs work. Tried to order some sushi for delivery, got told the item can't be delivered. OK fine, I pick some other items which can. Decide delivery is getting pricey and switch to carryout. *Now* I'm told everything I've ordered can't be fetched via carryout! Got irritated and quit the system. I'm mystified why some items are *delivery* only. But leaving that aside, You need to make it clear what can be ordered online and what can't, and under what circumstances.

We are repeat customers. We live in Arlington, but drive to Springfield because their sushi and sashimi is consistently very good and fresh.

Enjoyed a late lunch at Taiko on Saturday with my kid. We shared dumplings, takoyaki (wheat flour octopus balls), and she ordered the Salmon Lunch Box, which came with salad and soup. I ordered two rolls (the only ones that did not have rice): Naruto Roll & Phoenix Roll. The Naruto roll was tasty and the cucumber was nice and crunchy. The Phoenix roll had spicy tuna with avocado on top - also delicious. Both came with a yummy ponzu sauce that I alternated between dipping with soy sauce. We capped off the meal with a tempura fried matcha green tea ice cream that was crunchy on the outside, a tiny bit cake-like on the inside and sweet as it sounds!

This is an amazing restaurant. The attention of the personnel is wonderful and the food the best of the Japanese cuisine. I recommend trying the hibachi shrimps. Ah! Do not forget try their appetizers. The ambient is family oriented and friendly place to spend a nice evening having a simple dinner or celebrating your birthday. The service is the best. Thank you to the service team for making my wife and I feel welcome, and for helping me celebrate my wife birthday celebration.

My friend and I went here on a Sunday midday and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and had wonderful presentation. The spicy tuna and sweetie rolls were great! The appetizers (ginger salad and miso soup were yummy) and had a wonderful green tea ice cream dessert. The service was attentive and very kind. The decor of the restaurant was very well done and thought out. Loved the wall decorations and ceiling lighting. Will definitely be going back again. Highly recommend!

Thwarted in my attempt to have dinner at nearby Thai Ghang Waan (https://www.yelp.com/biz/thai-ghang-waan-springfield) since I was a n00b and forgot to make reservations, my party of five decided to head across the street to Taiko Japanese Restaurant. At first I was a bit hesitant since I last ate here in 2018 and the experience was...fine. Not terrible, not amazing, but fine. And you know what? In 2023, after eating here again after 5 years, the experience is...fine. Located in a strip mall off of always busy Backlick Road, Taiko is like any other suburban Asian restaurant. Generic in it's design elements while serving up cuisine that tries to appeal to a wide audience as to not offend anyone. The motif is punctuated with hardwood floors, with dark browns and blacks being the predominate color palette. The design aesthetic straddles between trying to be "modern" while giving off a sushi joint vibe complete a sushi bar towards the back of the dining room. Several folks at the table got sushi entrees, and surprisingly, they were pretty good. The fish didn't have a slimy texture or off putting smell, and the rice wasn't too sticky and had the right amount of vinegar mixed in. The table also shared a deep fried tofu appetizer which was okay. Pieces of soft tofu was sliced in cubes, and then after a light breading, given a deep fry bath which gave it a crispy exterior with a soft interior. Could've done without the bonito flakes as garnish. I opted for the Udon noodles since I wasn't in the mood for sushi and again...it was fine. A large bowl contained a good portion of udon noodles, chicken, the customary pink/white fish cake, and some veggies. I asked for some togarashi powder and soy sauce since the broth was on the bland side. However, I will say, the tempura shrimp were tasty! Two shrimps were laid flat and had a generous panko coating of bread crumbs and were nice and crunchy. I also had some of my friend's "hibachi style beef" and while the meat had a nice sear from a high heat grill, the flavor was...fine. Taiko is not the most authentic Japanese restaurant, but not the worst place. The dining room was pretty busy and there was a steady stream of take out orders, so they must have their fans. If I'm being honest though, it'll probably be another several years before I eat here again...and that will be "fine" with me.

Nice place setting (Buc'ee not included on menu)

Small place in a small strip mall. I got there right when they opened at 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday. Because it was a cold day I ordered the Sho Chiku Bai hot sake, though I usually prefer chilled, higher-quality sake. I also got a side order of edamame, which was served slightly salted and went perfectly with the sake. For my main dish I got the sushi and sashimi combo (not the sushi & sashimi lunch, which has less food and a plain tuna roll). I got 5 pieces of nigiri, 11 pieces of sashimi, and a special taiko roll. I think the special roll was the Fire Phoenix Roll. The dish came with a simple side salad and miso soup. The salad came with a dressing that was nice, but slightly too sweet for my taste. The soup had a nice base, it wasn't the traditional bonito base. Instead it seemed to be a clam base. All the fish was very fresh and delicious, the rice was flavorful, and the roll was great.

Eggs & Sushi is one of those hideouts and if you're not careful, might end up eating 7k calories before you leave. You'll only know this place exists if you live or work in the Lorton area where Eggs & Sushi stands firm. If not for Google Maps, you may drive on by without a thought. I stopped because their simple sign but just some quirky in a strange way caught my eye and it's in the middle of a warehouse street where you would not expect food places to be. Surprisingly, there are always little cafes in these kind of places that feed the immediate workers there. They are sometimes the hidden gems nobody will hear about unless you work in that area. This is one of them. Walking in, it feels like a small diner, yellow walls, lots of menu above the grill area displayed on multiple screens, properly lit dining area. They take orders at the end and at a kiosk as well. Window seats, couple of tables, and some bar seats also. Seems simple enough but this place is the ultimate trap for the hungry. Be careful! When you look up, you realize they have a vast menu and varied in the most fantastic way. You have your generic American style food, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, sandwiches, coffee, smoothie, an all day breakfast menu. Then you keep walking around to look at the menu, you see sushi, rolls, poke bowls, ramen, some dons, etc. You might think, hmm, they might be overloaded on the menu. Wrong! They make fantastic sandwiches! Smaller not overpriced ramen but with lots of oomph flavor! These guys bring the umami and drip it like masters. The dons hit, the ramen hits, the sandwiches hit, and my all time favorite breakfast item, the elegantly simple French toast hits. They are serving hits here and only a few know about it. Service was adequate from their high school kid waiters. The owners at the grill are very friendly if you get a chance to interact with them. Just a very chill ambience. It's diner that makes me want to move to Lorton. If you find yourself here one day, be careful. The menu makes you want to try everything. I haven't touch everything yet so I'm definitely coming back to try more. I just hope all these reviews won't mean I can't find my cozy window seat in the future.

If you're into that stuff, then that's a matcha for you. Ramens were okay. Broth was blowing my mind in flavor. I would say the depth was not too deep but this will work for a cold night. Karaage was okay. Takoyaki lacked impact in flavor also, missing the oomf! Seaweed salad was good but I'm not gonna rave about seaweed salad. We wrapped things up with the tiramisu cake. Oh boy, that was a surprise. It fell flat. The layers were overcooked and had a tough bite. I expect tiramisu to have a tender bite to it. We didn't finish that slice of cake. Well, we left full but half fulfilled. Was it worth it? Not really. If you need ramen and cup o noodles isn't cutting it, this is an option. Then again, there are options.

Atmosphere: Tucked into a quiet Kingstown strip mall. Interior is nice if not a bit dated and dark. They seem to only have hibachi tables, and when we arrived, it was empty (we did also have a reservation). It got much busier earlier, and I think that is because it takes time to move people in and out with the hibachi. Service: The greeter and server were excellent. We observed some other hibachi chefs who seemed fun and engaged. Our chef, however, seemed really checked out and was not into doing the whole shtick. Here's where I lowered my rating from a 4.5 or even a 5 to a 3 - My wife and I are allergic to shellfish, and my mother doesn't eat shrimp because it's not kosher. The server asked us about dietary restrictions, and we noted right away that we wanted our shrimp that comes with each meal to go to my father, the only member of our party who eats it. We also requested that the rest of the food be cooked further away from the shrimp and not make direct contact, etc. We also repeated this request to the chef again when he started preparing our meal. Despite this, he proceeded to prepare the shrimp with it touching the chicken and beef, and used the same hibachi utensil the entire time, moving between the shrimp and the other meats and veggies without care. Luckily, we don't have a strong contact response , but my throat did feel itchy after the meal. I think this was a reasonable request and one that has been accommodated at every other hibachi restaurant I have ever been to - at Disney, they simply accommodated us by cooking the shrimp after everything else was done and served. The only 'care' our chef took here was omitting the part of the service where shrimp pieces are tossed. On top of this, the food was much greasier than even the average hibachi. Tons of butter - I also thought the way the chef dipped his used grill utensils into a huge vat of butter was unsanitary and likely against code. Everything tasted okay in the moment, but two of us got sick after - not sure if this was from the food safety or the sheer amount of butter and oil. Chicken was flavorful but dry. Steak was flavorful but tough. Veggies were very good. I enjoyed my hot saki and my wife enjoyed her Kirin. Soup and salad are served with the meal. I was surprised that the soup was a clear chicken broth and not miso as is traditional. It was very plain and flavorless. Overall, I would not recommend this place, despite there being fewer and fewer hibachi options around where you get the full grill experience.

This place I think had an amazing balance of Izakaya and the premium sashimi being the show stealers. Yes. There's a max of how much you can order the premium sashimi. We started round 1 with them and they really set the bar for the rest of our experience. As much as we love sushi, my family and I kept wanting to order more of the small plates or the pork belly (my kid had 3 orders of it himself) or the ramen. Everything from the quality of food, to the private dining room, to the service, everything seemed worth the price. This is a bit of a drive for us so we will definitely mark it as a place to drop by when we are up in northern VA to get some great quality food and service.

Dear reader, Kanji…read moreAYCE Sushi in Springfield offers, quite simply, one of the best sushi deals in the area. There is something deeply satisfying about being able to order whatever you fancy without feeling like every additional roll requires a minor financial consultation. Better still, the quality is actually very good, which is where many all-you-can-eat arrangements lose the plot. Here, the fish is fresh, the options are plentiful, and the whole experience feels properly worth it. This is absolutely a place to arrive hungry and leave very happy indeed. A strong showing for Springfield and an easy recommendation for any sushi-loving member of society.

Yet, Kanji Sushi in Springfield remains one I've been to more than 3 times in the 8 or so months I've been living in this area. At $30 per person, it's a pretty fair price considering it includes sushi, apps, and hibachi!!!! I love the Shrimp hibachi and the shumai dumplings. But my favorite sushi roll? It's gotta be the Snow Mountain Roll (pictured below$ without a doubt!!! It's got shrimp tempura and shredded crabstick -- two of my fav proteins in sushi!!! The inside is nice and there's a conveyor belt that's included in the AYCE. But if you go anytime after 5pm be prepared for a long wait time. This place is great and very popular.
