    Pineapple Fried Rice
    Anna D.

The food was "just ok" but made me sick later. The staff was good and worked quickly. The place is nicely decorated and is a large place. I ordered a chicken with mixed vegetables. The garlic stir-fry sauce wasn't made properly and was watery and salty. My friend said his pineapple stir-fried rice and shrimp didn't smell right. I didn't taste it, but he said it smelled off. My other friend said her drunken noodles were just ok but not great. Two out of three of us cook Asian food frequently, so we know food pretty well. I would not eat here again just because I got sick from it. It was mostly empty there for 6pm on a week night.

    Crab rangoon

Crab rangoon was great. The wrapper was crispy, and they were creamy and sweet, just how I like them. The basil fried rice was spicy and fresh. Service was fast and friendly. There were no other customers in the store while we were there, so it was very quiet.

My brother and I swing by and this place was located in a strip mall with other businesses. As you walked in the restaurant is clean, spacious, a mural and some decor on the walls. We ordered 2) items: 1) Moo ping with sticky rice 2) Chicken pad Thai 3) We wanted to order dessert but we were informed out of the 7 desserts listed there weren't available because they sold out. They had mango sticky rice but the server stated the mangoes were bruised. So we didn't ordered any dessert. The moo ping (pork skewers) were on point, tender, perfectly grilled served with a small basket of sticky rice. The chicken pad Thai was delicious as well. The restaurant states it closes at 9p but we were told as we walked in that the kitchen closes at 8p. So make sure you called ahead to check their times since it wasn't updated on their website.

A little Thai place in a quiet neighborhood. I'm no Thai expert and I'm sure someone who is from Thailand would find things that were wrong with it but overall I would say they do a good job. Things were a bit of the sweet side but that's normal for most Thai places in America. This place is deep in the burb's so if you want more authentic food you will need to drive but if you want a good meal not too far from home. You will enjoy it.

Had such a lovely time here for a lunch. We got Thai Iced Tea, egg rolls to share, and I got the crispy basil duck. We even got extra egg rolls on the house as an appetizer, which was so great. My crispy basil duck came out Hot and Crispy and Tasty. The hostess was super engaging and the place was spacious and clean Def worth a revisit. Thank you!

29 Pad Thai is a good Thai restaurant. Very good service. Ambiance is very loud, bright. Food was good as well as customer service. I'll consider coming back when in this area of town. Very personal staff!!!

Excellent Menu and it is on line easy to read and see.

27 March 2025 - Walt Okon at 29 Pad Thai: Saratoga Shopping Center, 8064 Rolling Road, Springfield, VA 22153. This was my first time at this restaurant. This is the second location of this restaurant. The first restaurant is 9 Pad Thai in Springfield on Commerce Street. I was welcomed by a young lady from Bangkok, Thailand. I was told the Padthai was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located in Saratoga Shopping Center. There is plenty of free parking close to the restaurant front door. My first look at the entry door of the restaurant appeared small. Once inside the restaurant opens into beautiful comfortable décor. The 29 Pad Thai is truly authentic Thai as the owners and cooks are from Thailand. They are doing Bangkok, Thailand cooking. The venue is Modern Bangkok décor. Really nice wood and leather chairs are set at wood grained tables. Everything is super clean. Great menu. Open for Lunch and dinner and they do Take-Out. The food was great. Ordered Spring Rolls served with sweet & sour sauce- Wonderful. The Cashew Chicken (Crispy) came with fried chicken with onions, bell peppers, water chestnut, dry Thai-chili, scallions, and cashew nuts. It was excellent. The 9Padthai comes with stir-fried rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, red tofu, garlic chives, dried shrimp, cooked in special pad Thai sauce, served topped with crushed peanuts. Amazing! Prices are competitively reasonable. They do Take-Out. Service was excellent. Perfect place. Extremely comfortable. Excellent service with friendly smiles. It is like a diamond in this small-town Saratoga, Virginia. I highly recommend it. Walt Okon, Springfield, Virginia. https://www.29padthai.com/menu

Steamed mussels. They have a little kick to them (which I loved)

This place is in the "soft opening" stage so they do not have their liquor license yet (or I would give it 5 stars) but the food is very authentic. I've been to Thailand and this is one of the few places that I can say "hits the mark" everything tasted great and the service was phenomenal. It wasn't crowded at all (which I liked ) and they checked on you often. We will definitely return in a month or two (once the liquor license is approved )

Corner seating with booths. The restaurant gave us the okay to decorate.

So chic, not the usual Thai Restaurant interior. The staff were so personable. And THE FOOD is fantastic! I am glad we stopped by and checkout this place. While we were waiting the two ladies beside our table told us that this is one of their favorite places to eat at. And when we had our food, we understand why. It's so fresh, from the meat to the side dishes. I feel like I am back in Thailand. When I was researching on this restaurant, I found out that the chef taught in Bangkok culinary school. No wonder why this place is a gem! This place is amazing and highly recommend to try. Note: The portion is big and so you are getting what you pay for. Parking is shared and a lot of spaces. That's how I spend many of my days off as a restaurant owner myself. My experience started off on the wrong foot when I was directed to a very small table for one. I politely explained several times that I typically order a substantial amount of food and would need more space. I was told the larger tables were reserved and that tables could be pushed together later if needed. As the meal progressed, a longtime friend of mine who works there came out to say hello. Shortly afterward, tables were combined, apologies were offered, and the experience improved significantly. What left me puzzled was that many of the larger "reserved" tables remained empty throughout my visit. By the time I left around 5:00 PM, they still had not been used. The food was mixed. I came specifically for the Khao Mun Gai, one of Thailand's most iconic dishes. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The chicken was average, the rice was decent, and the accompanying soup lacked depth and flavor. On the positive side, the Crackin' Belly was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and well executed. The Pad Thai Siam Shrimp was solid, and while the Tom Sab soup had good flavor, it was a bit too spicy for my preference. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The space is modern, clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. Easily one of the nicer Thai restaurant interiors in Northern Virginia. One additional detail stood out. My friend joined me briefly for a toast. I ordered a double bourbon, and he ordered a shot. All three shots appeared on my bill, totaling $45. While not a major issue, it felt like a missed opportunity for hospitality given the circumstances. In the end, my bill was approximately $163 for a solo meal. My biggest takeaway wasn't the food--it was the inconsistency in hospitality. The experience improved dramatically after I was recognized, and every guest should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they walk through the door, regardless of appearance or assumptions about what they may spend. The restaurant has a talented kitchen, a beautiful dining room, and plenty of potential. With more consistent hospitality, this could easily become a destination Thai restaurant.

With a little persistence and a short walk, I found a spot. Walking in to the restaurant, there is a small greeting counter. No one was there and so we walked to the back. You don't see the tables when walking into the place, I suspect the kitchen is along side the hallway leading to the tables. The ambiance is friendly, casual with the tables and booths well spaced to provide privacy. The restaurant was relatively empty during our meal and the noise level was comfortable, allowing us to have conversation easily. Thai food is one of my two favorite and I am always looking for a new place to be inspired. I put Thai Cafe on my list of places that I'll return to. I started my meal with Tom Yum Seafood soup. The flavor was really excellent. Two minor things for me: I like soup warm and not hot. For me, the temp was perfect but for other people who like their soup really hot, it probably wasn't hot enough. The other issue is 'how spicy does this restaurant prepare their food?' The soup was 1 pepper, which was a bit milder than I prefer, but accurate. I added a bit more spice. I chose the vegetarian Kapow Pak. The dish is prepared in a brown sauce which frankly isn't my favorite. But it was really good. The veges were fresh, crisp and crunchy, and the tofu was wonderfully lightly fried. The dish is described as medium spicy, reasonably accurate. My friend chose the Pad Woon Sean with chicken. I didn't try it but he said it was a 10/10. The staff were friendly, helpful, and helped me select my dish. This is a family business that's been open for about 30 years. The servers were totally wonderful. I will certainly be back.

My friend who isn't typically a fan of thai tea really liked Mae Ornnit's version, because it wasn't that sweet. We also liked the strawberry smoothie! Some of our food favorites were the moo ping with sticky rice as an appetizer. The pork marinade was really good! The crispy chicken with green curry was also delicious. The chicken had a great crisp, and it wasn't an overwhelming amount of green curry. The volcano tom yum dish using Mama instant noodles was a visually stunning dish. It was also tasty, served with a lot of seafood. The Mama cup was repurposed to hold veggies. I kind of wished there were more seasoning or some sauce with the veggies because they were a bit dry, but we mixed it in with the noodles, so no biggie. We devoured the mango sticky rice, that was about $9. We should've ordered 2 of those to share amongst us 4. The mango was perfectly ripe and delicious!!! The Tom Yum soup was very good. The flavor of the spicy Tom Kha soup was also very good. Even if it's traditional to be prepared this way, I didn't like the hard pieces of lemongrass in the soup I had to pick out. I ordered the lunch special pork Phad Thai. With bits of pink-tipped barbecued pork the smoky flavored Phad Thai was good, even if it was served on a plate that was a tad too small. The Gai Tod crispy chicken came with a yellow curry sauce. The perfectly seasoned curry sauce was delicious and the chicken excellent. My Thai Iced Coffee was excellent. The best part of our meal was the mango sticky rice for dessert. The mango was sweet and ripe and the rice with condensed milk was wonderful. We do wish that they hadn't brought out entrees almost immediately after our appetizers. That made for a crowded table.
