Typical pho/viet spot. It doesn't look great inside but the bathrooms were very clean which I wasn't expecting. The vermicelli bowl was typical like most other places that are like it. It was good. What a gem! This place is right by my gym & for a pho lover like me, I HAD to try, lol. I was immediately greeted upon entering & asked if I needed assistance. The lady at the counter was super sweet & helpful in guiding me and she also explained that they have a rewards program & she signed me right up. I ordered a veggie pho with vegetable broth, a chicken pho, & an order of summer rolls...all to-go! The summer rolls were probably one of the best I've ever had, so fresh, and the peanut sauce was delish with the perfect amount of kick! I was in the mood for some veggie pho & it was delightful. Pho Golden Cow is the only place I get my pho. I'm not experimenting. This is my spot. Their broth has that deep, rich, slightly dirty pho taste that hits every time. It's bold and savory with real depth. Not light. Not watered down. If you know, you know. The sate chili oil is a must. It adds the perfect spicy, garlicky kick and makes the whole bowl even better. Honestly I would love if they put their extra things into their back room instead of on the vacant table in the middle of the room, clean the back of the doors in the bathroom so you don't see hand prints, add some music, lower lights so it was a step up and we probably would do dine in more often. After attending my cousin's passing, I was craving a big meal so since I was in the area, I figure I take this opportunity to finally try this place located in a strip mall with other businesses such as Best Buns, Stupid Good BBQ and Eleni's Greek Taverna. I had achingly low expectations for a phở restaurant in the middle of nowhere land, Virginia. Boy was I surprised by this golden cow of a restaurant. I ordered my usual rice dish - cơm tấm thịt nướng (grilled pork, rice + veggies). Portions are very generous; they give you plenty of meat, rice, and veggies. Not only was the meat tense and flavorful, it had a nice char as well. It tasted true and authentic so no complaints here. Out of curiosity's sake, we ordered the Signature Hot Stone Custom Bowl with 7 toppings ($19). This is their version of a dipping phở where you dip your noodles and meat into a piping hot clay pot. This was surprisingly well executed especially since this version is such a trendy take on phở. The broth was umami and aromatic. Although I didn't love all the cuts of meat, they do give you good variety. Pho Golden Cow is serving up some pretty authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Excellent from start to finish. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Medium size establishment with adequate seating. You are promptly greeted with seat yourself and the service is fast and efficient. The Pho comes out quickly along with the sides and if you order an appetizer, it will come out before the main course. Wifey and I stopped for lunch, and we opted for the popcorn garlic & ginger chicken along with Pho (chicken and beef). The appetizer was unique and super delish! We all know the key to good Pho is the broth and this was one of the most clear and clean broths I have ever experienced. It wasn't salty and no MSG. The bowl of pho was everything I expected: flavorful and hot with plenty of meat and garnish. The Sriracha sauce was legit Huy Fong Foods. BLUF: very good food in a casual setting at a reasonable price I'm a major banh mi fan, so we went here to try it out for lunch on a Saturday. Frankly never heard of it until I did a yelp search. The place is pretty small and casual, perhaps 9 small tables. The staff was friendly, and the food came out promptly. We ordered Banh mi (of course), spring rolls, and beef loin pho. The spring rolls came with peanut sauce, very fresh and crunchy. The pho was rich and aromatic, although they don't give as much or as varied a number of vegetables as most pho places. Still, it was very good. The banh mi was on the perfect crunchy bread and the pork was delicious. That said, they actual amount of pork was kind of scant. Could have used about 50% more to really fill out the bun. So, bottom line is what I had was delicious, just could have used a bit more of it. The waitress took a long time to refill our water, but other than that service was fast. I'd go back though. The positives outweigh the negatives, and it's convenient and fast. read more

She got the standard pho soup (w/ well-done flank steak, large, $14.75,) I got a beef stew noodle soup ($15.75). Both were big helpings - easily a second meal or light second meal if you're a big eater. Beef stew had a rich meaty broth, big hunks of stew meat, chunks of carrot. The pho had plenty of meat. Large bag of sprouts, lime wedges, etc. - you definitely won't be lacking those. Sits in a storefront in a busy shopping plaza but plenty of parking. Restaurant itself is clean, staff friendly and quick - order took 15 min. We'd go back. Not a Wow! experience but rock solid and really good value for the price. read more

Yummy!!! Had been craving good pho and Vietnamese egg rolls and their fresh spring rolls and this place seriously hit the spot! Stopped in a little before 7pm on a Friday evening and we were the only ones there but it soon got pretty busy. They also seemed to have a steady stream of pick-up orders as well. The egg rolls had a delicious flavorful filling and were hit off the fryer. Good dipping sauce as well. I wish I had one right now! The fresh spring rolls were also delicious and came with a nice peanut hoisin sauce! I had the chicken pho and it was so good and flavorful! The broth was so tasty, this has set the bar pretty high for good pho broth! Lots of chicken and noodles were also included. My husband got the stir fry chicken and he enjoyed it. Added some extra spice and he said it was perfect. I tired a bite and it had good flavor. This could be my new go-to pho restaurant when in the area! read more

The bun bo hue was really sweet and doesnt have the foundation flavor of BBH at all! My friend ordered Bo Kho which was also bland and tasted nothing like Bo Kho. I believe the place really needs flavor development. I had same dishes at other places that were better and I hope to give them another chance. Good service and nice place though. read more

I will generally wait about 6 months or so after a new restaurant opens to allow for the establishment to smooth out any operational growing pains. I've been eyeing Pho Golden 5 stars for a while during my weekly trips to the Aldi which is located in the same strip mall, so once this place hit the six month mark, a reminder went off on my phone to make a visit. The decor is fairly typical of a pho joint; white painted walls, tile floors, with red metal chairs and wooden tables are to be expected. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary. The noodle soup at Pho Golden 5 Stars is solid. I ordered a large bowl of my customary mixed cuts of meat (number 18) and upon arrival at my table, I was pleased with the portion size. Maybe it's just my opinion, but nowadays, I find most pho places are heavy on the noodles and soup, but skimp on the meat. Not here. My bowl had plenty of well done brisket, eye of round steak, and soft tendon. The rice noodles were also perfectly cooked resulting in a nice springy mouth feel, as opposed to some places which over boil them causing them to be overly chewy. Now as for the most important element of pho, the broth, this is where I deduct one small star. Don't get me wrong, the broth itself had a very intense beefy flavor, but IMHO, it lacked some of the other subtle notes of star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, and clove. I could detect the flavors of those aromatics, but if I could change one thing, it would be to even include more in the spice bag during the hours long broth creation process. The service was just as I prefer - attentive without being overbearing and the nice folks checked in from time to time to ask how was the meal. Overall, Pho Golden 5 Stars is a welcome addition to the area and will be in my rotation of places to satisfy my pho cravings. Large bowl of pho with no drink (just water) will cost about $15 with tax and tip. read more

We recently drove from Brooklyn, NY to Greensboro, NC, and decided to get dinner around the halfway point. I searched for Vietnamese restaurants on Google, and this looked like a great option from the picture. We are questioning the practicality of the drive we made, but I can assure you that stopping into Pho Golden 5 Stars was an excellent choice. We arrived about an hour and a half before closing on Sunday, and no one was in the restaurant. The owner was behind the counter and was immediately so nice! Not many vegetarian options on the menu aside from appetizers and the vegetarian pho - luckily, this is exactly what I wanted. It was cold that night and instantly warmed me up. Delicious, robust broth that barely needed anything added. The owner also put on some great TV for us, so now I know what street food to look out for - dinner and education! If I am ever in the area, I will pop back in for good food and good conversation. read more

I am always so excited to try out new restaurants. ESPECIALLY restaurants that serve pho. In light of recent events, I ordered for pick up. The woman who picked up was very thorough and repeated my order to ensure that nothing was missing. I ordered the fried egg rolls, the chicken wings with fries, and two large bowls of pho (one with meatballs and steak, and the other with a little bit of everything). The broth was strong and I say that in the best way possible. It definitely had a bold star anise flavor which I really like. They provided a huge bag of bean sprouts, jalapeños, and basil- everything was very fresh and crisp! The fried egg rolls were delicious- crispy, and I felt like they were a good size too! I always struggle with restaurants that have such small portions. I also really liked the fries and chicken wings. Both were delicious! My s/o picked up the order and told me that there weren't too many people here. They opened during the pandemic which is a struggle, so I would encourage everyone to give them a try. This is an update which includes 3 dishes that my wife and I have not tried before: Bún Bò Huế, Cánh Gà Chiên Nước Mắm and Hà Tiểu Bò Áp Chảo. 1) Bún Bò Huế This was a spicy beef noddle soup that had tender thinly sliced beef, beef tendon, slices of gluten, thick rice noodles, cilantro, white onions and spring onions. It came with a bowl of napa, red cabbage, basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños and lime. The broth was very spicy hot but it didn't stick on the tongue because there was plenty of oil in the broth. The overall flavor was predominantly hot pepper with a decent blend of flavors from the meat, onions, and basil. I would get this dish again. 2) Cánh Gà Chiên Nước Mắm Vietnamese buffalo chicken wings (6 pcs) with french fries or white rice along with lettuce, cucumbers, a slice of tomato, white radish and carrots. The wings were lightly breaded and lightly fried. They were crispy on the outside and tender inside. Very good flavor, but not buffalo chicken wings. If you want crispy chicken wings with a little heat, then this is it. It came with a spicy tomato sauce. We enjoyed it. 3) Hà Tiểu Bò Áp Chảo Vietnamese Pan-Fried Rice Noodles with Beef. It had wide flat rice noodles which seemed to be fresh-made. It also had Chinese broccoli, black mushrooms, carrots, baby corn and cilantro. It had a light brown sauce which was well-rounded and flavorful, but a little salty.    The service was good. The dining room and restrooms were clean. We found nothing to complain about. Their food is quite good especially the Pho. Their sauces and broths have something extra added, so they have more depth compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. We will be returning to try other dishes. read more

Wow just... wow. After searching literally for YEARS for a Pho Saté Killer, I've finally found my new Pho spot. Saté used to be the g.o.a.t. for many years until quality literally tanked. I can't go there anymore because of how luke warm their Pho is. This new spot opened during the pandemic and thankfully they survived through it so everyone can experience this place. Now the first time I came here, I have to admit, I was hungover AF and held off on reviewing for a second visit. I figured I was being bias since my body was craving soup. Well... I just came back and it was like the first hit. Soup is DANK and doesn't need any sauces. Vinegar onion? on point (though a little watery). And wow they give a perfect amount of meat. I was recently craving pho after having it from a peer. But I misremembered the name of the location I ordered from. So I ended up trying this place for the first time. It was okay. Not bad at all. But also not anything that's going to cause me to come back for more. The broth was kind of ho-hum. I do appreciate that the way they do delivery provides a bowl full of ingredients that you pour the broth into. I think that's really smart. Will be back for the pho. Ordered delivery of pho ga because I was under the weather and couldn't make my own chicken soup. They give you the option of broth (I had chicken, but might try beef next time too), and everything came packaged up nicely and separate. I out all the veg, chicken and noodles and poured the broth over all. I put chili oil in without tasting... it didn't need it at all, with several slices of green chiles floating around the bowl it had a nice undertone of heat. Ate everything with the sturdy chopsticks they provided and held myself back from slurping the broth and overdoing it. The bill was only $20 for a giant bowl of pho and and ordered of Vietnamese spring rolls (first time I have had these, and they weren't my favorite). I will be order again for sure. read more
