DD and I went here based on a recommendation from someone else. They normally do pick up. We chose to eat in. It is a no nonsense interior with only a few tables. Pick up is clearly what most folks do. We ordered a few basic rolls (spicy tuna and eel) and a couple more complex ones, Dragon Roll, Volcano etc. Sushi was fresh, large portions and came very quickly. They gave us miso soup and a small salad as well. We enjoyed the food and I would definitely get food there again. It is clear there are a lot of repeat customers. The front of house staff is very friendly and knows many of the regulars. All in all, a good experience. read more

On our most recent visits, the food has been a bit inconsistent, and we haven't been enjoying our orders as much. We've had: +a Chicken Teriyaki 'Bento' Box +Tonkotsu Ramen +Donkatsu with Japanese Curry over rice +various maki rolls Definitely a favorite amongst the locals, as this place is budget-friendly, and they receive a lot of call ahead/to-go orders. Before Covid, my daughter and I went to rawr almost weekly for mommy-daughter time. Now that she's home from college we decided to go back down memory lane and visit our favorite spots and we were pleasantly surprised to see that Rawr still felt like home. Rounded up to 5 stars because of good service, amazing prices for lunch, and big portions!!!!! The lunch special here is really good! It's around $11 or $12 for 2 huge rolls: I chose tuna crunch and shrimp tempura rolls, and it comes with a MISO SOUP!!!!!! The staff is quick and nice, and I believe the lunch special also comes with a soda can now that I recall. This is such a great value in this day and age!!!!! IN THIS ECONOMY?! Yes! I look forward to dining here again, highlight of when I have to be in the area for work. Definitely recommend trying them out for affordable and tasty sushi and rolls. read more

Great sushi! Less overall variety but really solid sushi with quality. Spicy is a bit spicy for me but likely would make the average person happy. One time they texted my delivery had arrived and included a "rawr-ing" dinosaur emoji which was hilarious. My only gripe is they stop talking immune orders at 8. The actual establishment is in a strip mall area, it's a casual joint. Great sushi! read more

Definitely a hidden gem - wish I had discovered this place sooner!!! It's a great quick lunch spot and carryout joint - the menu is varied enough that you'll find something you'll enjoy. Haven't tried everything on the menu, but for the most part the sushi rolls and sake/tekka/hamachi dons are pretty spot on and the katsu freshly made isn't bad! My only (small) complaint is that the curry on the katsu curry isn't quite authentic Japanese, not beef based and seemingly missing some more complex spices, I'm surprised I figured they would use S&B paste or something similar, but it's not Japanese style curry. Have yet to try the ramen, but from the looks of it the runny egg, noodles and pork all look decent enough. I wish we lived closer as I'd be in here all the time! I will be going back for sushi. I hopped in here randomly because I was craving ramen. It's a no frills, small restaurant that was extremely busy. Despite the volume, service was great. My bowl of ramen was about $10 and it was good. Not amazing but good. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and it was not spicy at all so I added some Siracha. The egg was cooked pretty well and pork was good. I thought the amount of food for the price was pretty fantastic as well Place does not serve alcohol but they have sodas. Will come back read more

Stopped into this quaint little place a few months ago for the first time and found it is exceptional! Three visits so far and each time the sushi is so fresh! Tried the spicy miso ramen the third visit and it was delicious too! The customer service is top notch and the prices are reasonable. This is a bit of drive of for us however, it is worth it and will continue to make it out here for sushi and ramen. Highly recommend!!! Try it, you won't regret it!!! read more

Came here since I was in the Springfield area and was craving something that wouldn't make me feel too bloated before my workout in a couple hours. Looked at this sushi place since it was rated high, and I was happy I stopped by! I ordered the Snowman Roll and it was so tasty! The ingredients were very fresh, and the sauces made me not even need the soy sauce since it was so flavorful already. My friend also enjoyed her gyozas. Quick note - the inside is small with only about 4 tables. But, it's well worth going since the food is very fresh. Servers were friendly, too. This restaurant has more of a fast casual vibe to it, rather than having a whole sit-down meal. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely be back! read more

Japanese comfort food on a budget. You can't compare this place to a high-end sushi spot where you are paying top dollar for the quality. This is budget sushi and for that price, they do a pretty good job. I usually order their curry pork katsu bowl. The curry they use has a unique flavor to it, slightly spicy and so addicting when drenched in the rice. A dish that's under $10 and makes you full? 5 star in my opinion. Their unagidon is pretty good too and that's normally $18-20+ at the more expensive Japanese restaurants. If I wanted a luxurious sit-down experience, I'd go to some place in DC and pay an arm and a leg. But if I want Japanese food I could eat everyday and satisfies my cravings then Rawr Sushi is the place. I'll definitely be ordering more from them during this quarantine. Also, don't forget to tip your drivers as they are risking their lives during this pandemic!!!! read more

We absolutely loved the sushi as it was very fresh and delicious. The miso soup that proceeded it was the best we've ever tasted. We had the rainbow roll & Philadelphia Roll, the spicy, crunchy, salmon roll, Phoenix roll, dragon roll and the shrimp tempura roll. The nice thing is that it is a little bit of a fast food sushi, so it doesn't take too long. There is limited seating, but it's a family room business for 10 years and we would definitely recommend going here over any kind of sit down business. read more

Best around as far as I know. I always get the sushi platter and a hot dish (tonkatsu pork curry this time). I eat the sushi for a couple days at home. I don't think I'll go anywhere else lol. This place is great and the guy at the front counter is always so nice and happy to have my business. It's a small place to sit and eat at, but the tables are still nice to sit at if you can find one available. I really don't have anything bad to say. Solid place and excellent sushi! read more

This little family business is the perfect hole-in-the-wall restaurant for an inexpensive and delicious Japanese lunch. I was recommended to come here many times by friends and colleagues, and finally tried it out last summer. You will be hard pressed if you think you'll find a better value sushi/Japanese restaurant in the NOVA area that is both quality and comes with amazing service. It's an absolutely fantastic gem in the area if you find yourself hankering for sushi and are looking for something quick and satisfying...a state of mind that I find myself imbedded in all too often! WOW! I am so impressed with my sushi today!! I went ahead and (kind of) went overboard...and ordered a sushi platter (highly recommended by fellow reviewers #thankyou). It was definitely a great way to try a few different roles that this restaurant offers. Also they have three different sushi platters available. I ordered Platter #2: It came with 48 pieces of spicy crunchy tuna, spicy crunchy salmon, tuna sushi, salmon sushi, dragon roll, California roll, and a bunch of individual pieces of sushi. Not a SINGLE ingredient was skimped. The avocado was a thick chunk, the fish tasted incredible and was provided generously. The ginger and wasabi and plenty of soy sauce came with it. Presentation was awesome, it was easy to serve (It could definitely be served as a party tray- otherwise it looked great on my bed in front of Netflix while I had a grand lunch :) and leftovers for dinner....) I'm highly inclined to say that throughout all of my different sushi experiences in Springfield, this one was the best one yet! In price and quality it cannot be beat. I went ahead and tried PostMates for the first time and got it delivered to my door! No need to speak to a single human being other than stay in my PJs and hide away eating my freshly prepared sushi. Fish is fresh and delicious, the prices are extremely fair, customer service is good and the portions are very filling!!! A small little hole in the wall. I was looking up some places to check out on Yelp and this spot popped up. The Sushi looked pretty amazing on here and suggested it to my friends. This located won and we decided to meet here for lunch. I'm not exactly sure what my friend ordered because they arrived there before I did and was able to grab us a table and high chair. It is a small space, but plenty of room for 4 per table. For my first time here, it may have seemed like it had a little bit too much going on, but I love the options that they have for their customers. I saw that they offer Ramen orders but...it was honestly too hot to order that. So, I decided on their pork dumpling (fried) and lunch special box (which you got to pick 2 sushi rolls - that were listed on their lunch special options) and it came with a drink and miso soup for $8! Not a bad deal! I decided on their Spicy White Tuna Roll (Escolar) and Spicy Crunchy Salmon Roll. They were really good! As for the miso soup and fried dumplings...I think you would honestly have to try to mess that up haha. Overall, it was delicious and I got my food quicker than expected. I'm pretty sure my friend ordered one of their party platter specials or entrees because...it looked amazing. I would've ordered the same thing if my husband was with me. One of my favorite budget-friendly Japanese spots. Before coming here, you need to come here expecting a fast-casual experience. Don't expect a 5 star gourmet Michelin star experience. RAWR Sushi is not that. They offer affordable tasty comfort food for the everyday Springfield local eater. With that being said, get the dragon roll and the Curry Chicken Katsu bowl - amazing every time. The Unagidon is worth it if you want to spend. The ramen is not the best in the area, but it's $3-5 dollars less than the legit ramen shops so we can cut them some slack. RAWR Sushi, I'll be back soon! read more

Stopped by here for another quick lunch on the way up 95. Came in and was a little busier than usual but still found some seats. Decided to order tuna avocado and spicy tuna rolls with our pork tonkatsu curry bowls. The sushi was quick and good as usual no complaints here. The pork tonkatsu was great again. Very hot and crispy pork cutlet, and nice thick curry gravy with vegetables over rice. The bowl is super filling and the rolls may have not been needed. Quick and good sushi. The owner is super nice and friendly! I've been here two times and each time it was really good. It is a small sit down restaurant/carryout. The price is reasonable and not too expensive. I ordered the snowman roll, spicy crunchy tuna and shrimp tempura roll. It was all really good. There wasn't too much rice and all decent size rolls. We got three rounds of beef brisket (chadol), one thin & thick pork belly (samgyupsal) each, and half an order of large intestine (daechang). The chadol was a little too fatty than I'd like, but it was high quality and comparable to non-AYCE options like Meokja Meokja. I didn't love the thin samgyupsal as much, but the thick version was so meaty and juicy. The intestines were a fatty treat, and I was good with just a couple bites. We had to ask for ssamjang and sesame oil for sauces, which they were generous with giving. Our server was pretty attentive, but we thought it was weird that he cooked the thin samgyupsal and the beef brisket at the same time. As for sides, we asked for lots of them (sadly our corn cheese never came). The fermented soybean stew was strong, but a bit too salty at the end. The egg bomb was fluffy and delicious. They also have ramen (aka shin ramen) which we enjoyed by adding several pieces of chadol and letting it soak in there to get that deep meaty flavor. I enjoyed the kimchi throughout the meal, which was the perfect "not quite fresh, but still crunchy" texture. Overall, we ate to our heart's content. I definitely would be back for more chadol, thick samgypsal, and a bit of daechang in the future. The $30 pricing is a steal for the amount of food we got, but I'd hesitate to pay for the $40 dinner price. I don't eat enough at AYCE spots to get my money's worth, so I would rather spend that $40 at a non-AYCE spot for higher quality cuts like galbi and rib tips.

It had been broiled and with the sauce on it was very tasty. JP's entrée was the Pork Katsu bento box. The pork katsu was excellent and so were the California rolls that came with the box. The bento box also came with miso soup and a side salad. My entrée was the Beef Udon. Very attractively presented, it had a smoky flavor and was packed with beef along with bits of asparagus and zucchini. It was pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised at the end of our meal to receive complementary scoops of a delicious vanilla ice cream. Our water glasses were refilled without us ever having to ask, which is always appreciated. I can't say I'm a ramen expert (or a japanese food expert), but this place had the best ramen and Dragon Roll I've ever had. The store itself was cute and adorable, tucked away in the corner of the shopping center. It was small, quaint and adorable. At first I was suspicious because of the styrofoam plates, plastic ramen bowls and plastic spoons. But as soon as my food was delivered I realized how wrong I was to judge. My husband said "I knew this place was legit when I saw an old lady sitting like my Grandma used to." We started with the Takoyaki balls and they were hot and delicious and the sauce on top made me eat the cabbage(?) underneath it, just because the extra sauce was on it. My Husband and I got the Tonkatsu Ramen and I couldn't stop eating it. My husband, who never drinks the broth and only eats the noodles, ate the entire bowl broth included. The pork was tender and not overly sweet like some other places I've visited (*Cough*Marumen*Cough*). The noodles were firm and delicious and I even ate the egg which I usually give to my husband because I don't like eggs that much. The fatty delicious broth will coat your tongue and you'll be tasting it for the rest of the day. The downfall to a lot of sushi places with dragon rolls is that the shrimp tempura in the middle becomes soggy, but this place it was still crunchy and delicious. It wasn't drenched in Eel Sauce, and I actually tasted the Eel (instead of the sauce) for the first time in a long time. There was no need for soy sauce or even wasabi. All in all this was an awesome place. We left wanting to leave more money on the table, because we didn't think we paid enough for our meal. I'm in love with the sake don. The salmon is so smooth and creamy. They offer miso soup with most dishes and is a nice palate cleanser. Their other rolls are killer. Perfect rice to fillings ratio and also tastes fresh. I did try their ramen and personally, not a top list dish for me but I am relatively picky when it comes to ramen. Bento boxes are bomb af. The service was also quick too, and everyone was working so efficiently to get my order out. It's not a huge space, but there is seating. I will say, the sauces are $0.50 extra but probably worth it since they had a nice variety. I ended up using sauces at home but I will definitely come back. Nice to support a local business!
