The food here was truly excellent. My partner ordered the orecchiette pugliese and loved it. He said it was the best Italian food he's had in all of Pennsylvania. I ordered a special--tagliatelle with seafood and lobster. It was amazing, and the portions were incredibly generous. It came with a half of a lobster, and all of the seafood was cooked perfectly. The food did take a really long time to come out, and the restaurant wasn't very full, so I wouldn't recommend coming here before a show or event. It was hard at times to get our servers' attention, so we weren't able to order as many drinks as we wanted. Plus, my partner's Manhattan was only okay-- stick to the wine rather than the cocktails. Still, we were really blown away by the food and would run right back here next time we are in Hawley! read more

*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* I honestly did not expect to have one of the best Italian meals I've ever had during my weekend trip to the Poconos. We found this place last minute and called earlier to ask for a table and luckily they had availability. The place was decently sized with and had dining tables in a vault room in the back. Decor was very much rustic as well. They had a pretty wide array of item on the menu from homemade pasta to homemade pizza. Everything seemed to be made fresh in house and you can definitely taste the quality in the food. The pasta was cooked PERFECTLY AL DENTE. Even though Italian food is known to be on the heavier side, this meal was lighter than I expected. Overall, I was very impressed by the flavors, the textures, and can say it's the best Italian food I've had so far. *DINNER* Salmon - salmon cooked perfectly, not overdone or dry at all. I love the polenta with the mushroom sauce. Veal Piccata - veal was cooked very well, soft and not too chewy and not gamey at all. The sauce was soooo good, especially if you like the citrus kick like I do. We made a reservation for Father's Day and we were promptly seated when we arrived. At first it was a little warm inside but we later found out that they were in the process of draining the AC. As soon as it was draining the room quickly cooled down. The restaurant offers both indoor and back patio seating (there is also seating inside the old bank vault - don't worry the door is welded open). We sat near a window. Bread was brought out while we were reviewing the menu and oil and balsamic vinegar were available on our table. We ordered the 2 appetizers. The muscles were a very generous portion and they were absolutely delicious. Our second appetizer was equally delicious: the mozzarella was so fresh and I highly recommend and appetizer with the mozzarella. When our main courses arrived the presentation was beautiful. My step mother and I both order the crab ravioli and it was so good. My dad ordered the lamb chops (and I ate a couple). The lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will order lamb next time. We knew that we would be ordering dessert since creme brûlée is one of our favorite desserts. My dad ordered Tiramisu and my step mom and I went for creme brûlée. Our creme brûlée was perfectly torched. My father love the tiramisu which was prepared when we ordered it. The service was great our server was friendly and attentive. Finally got a table at this establishment and it was well worth the wait. I had the salmon and it was fabulous and its side of grilled romain lettuce toped with cheese was creative and delicious. A shame because we recently moved to the area and would frequent the restaurant, but she left such an impression I don't think we will. Additionally, we asked her if we could be seated in the vault. I'm very critical with my Italian food. I'm from NYC and lived in Italy. This place is awesome. The ambiance is wonderful and being in an old bank is so unique and I want to eat in vault next time I go. I couldn't believe such a place would exist in such a quiet town 2 hours away from NYC. A converted bank building seems to be the perfect setting for a restaurant and the best I have seen. There is a secret dining room within a vault!! This was special. The decors is rustic and you are transported back to the old days. I will get right to the food and say it was fantastic. Fresh tasting home made pastas and pizzas. I also ordered the white mussels which was one of the most unique I can remember. Another surprise was the pumpkin ravioli which is quite a portion. Beautiful interior repurposed from a former bank building. The host was friendly, even though we didn't have a reservation. The Tagliatelle Bologonese had a runny saucy, but perfectly prepared pasta. The Chicken Piccatta was tasty. What irked us was the indifferent, rude service. The waitress rushed us from the minute we sat down. She had no interpersonal skills and was very abrupt. At the end, she tossed the check down on the table. The couple next to us commented on how she wasn't friendly to them. What was galling was that she smiled and made a huge deal over a table of locals, "Oh, how have you been...good to see you." The Clams, Lamb and Lasagna and freshly made desserts of Tiramisu and Cheesecake were all to the extreme. The dinner was timed and presented perfectly. This is a white cloth experience and the room was warm and beautifully appointed. We have been many places in the world and we were elated at our investment in our time. Went with some girlfriends and had read plenty of reviews that other diners were able to eat gluten free easily here and they had gluten free past. Unfortunately I failed to call and validate this so some of it is on me ... however when we arrived, I told the server right away and he basically laughed in my face that they had nothing for this. The only dish they could offer was the osso bucco and a few specials. I was super disappointed by mostly his respond but I will say the osso bucco was the best thing I've ever eaten. It was phenomenal!!! We also got the octopus appetizer that was great and the lamb chops which were super disappointing. We finished with crème brûlée that was extremely over cooked and we could not finish it. When I told the server, he made no comment and just ignored us. Overall I'd go back for the food with different expectations but some server training is needed for sure. By the way when I went to the bathroom, you basically walk through their storage, and they had a GIANT bag of high quality gluten free flour so I highly doubt they had only 3 dishes to offer ... I think this was a server fail more than anything. Ok let me finish my negativity with a note that the food really was wonderful and if you have no allergies you should absolutely go!! read more

I was there last week with some friends and we ordered dinner and red wine ! What I noticed was that it was very dark inside and lighting was beyond what it is normally . Reservations only and very few walk ins. Prices have increased and the food has changed in flavor and portions . A party of four and we had one drink , and just dinners . Our Bill was over 240 dollars and surprised all of us . Our drinks were 4 glasses of wine chicken parm , Marsala eggplant parm , and veal parm . I booked a reservation here for a special anniversary dinner with my wife. The place was fairly crowded and very loud. It definitely was not romantic. Even worse, the service was very slow and indifferent. We arrived on time for a reservation, yet it took 10 or 15 minutes for us to be even recognized. Our appetizer and main dishes were good. But it's interesting how slow and uncaring service can put a bad taste in your mouth. A few weeks later, I planned a special birthday celebration with eight people. Was there to celebrate my birthday and made reservations well in advance. Service appeared sparse as one gentleman was the waiter for majority of tables. Restaurant was not crowded when we got there but one wAiter for several tables inside and out is a considerable stretch. Drinks were fair. In fact cousin returned a whiskey sour and gin & tonics were less than the norms. The baked clams lacked flavor and were dry. This review is regarding their customer service. Because of the reviews shown below, my family & I were drawn to this restaurant. I called the business at around 3PM to request hours of operation and was informed that the restaurant opened at 4PM. When we arrived there we were the only customers there and when I asked for a table I was told that the restaurant was fully reserved. A good business practice is to display a notice stating that reservations are required. AND this information should also be reported over the phone to avoid any perception of customer bias. read more
