Not sure if my last review is still visible after I update it. Brief recap...it was 4/5. Main issue last time was they were packed and we didn't have a reservation. Lady at door was snobby and wouldn't let us sit at the empty "reserved" table that sat empty the whole time we were there eating at the bar. Anywho... fast forward a year. We had a reservation this time and were there when they opened at five. Clean bathroom, clean dining area, excellent food. I recommend the ribeye and the venison tartare. Kid got prime rib Mac and cheese. Cheese cake for dessert was great and not too sweet. Coffee was fantastic. It's a little pricy but worth it. read more

We have been visiting Native since they opened. We love the farm to table, open kitchen, and staff! It is a combination of small and large plates with well crafted cocktails. There are not too many places like this in the area, so when we discovered Native, we were very excited. Over the years we have gone and always enjoyed fabulous food with amazing flavor combinations. Last night we finally sat at the chef's counter and it was so cool to watch the 3 chef's work in perfect harmony. I recommend it. The place is always packed so male a reservation or pray you can grab a seat at the bar. The menu does change based on the availability of local products. Last night we had a few small and large. The charred Caesar, octopus, and butternut squash were all amazing. My favorite was the squash it also had the delicate squash and figs and capers. Such a great combo of flavors. We also got the special carrot fritters that our waitress, Candy recommended. All three color carrots paired with a cashew whip was incredible. For the larger plates, my husband went with homemade goat cheeses mushroom ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce and i got the salmon. Ravioli was sweet and savory! Salmon was good but i would have preferred it less cooked. A bit dry. To finish the meal we had the cheesecake and it had a wonderful graham cracker crust! Look at all these deliciousness. The ROASTED HALF CHICKEN and CRISPY POTATOES. NATURAL JUS was amazing. You can just taste it through the picture. I presentation and the service was equally awesome. Our servicer was friendly and very helpful And patient with me as o really couldn't decide. When I looked at other tables their plates looked so good and plentiful. Perfect spot for dinner! Super cute ambiance, great service, and amazing food. My friend and I got a few dishes to split so we could try a bit of everything. All the dishes are small tapa sizes, but I found it to be just the right amount for sharing. I really enjoyed all of our dishes (literally not a single thing I didn't like), but my favorites were the crab toast and burrata toast. We also split the butterscotch pot de creme for dessert, which was sooo good. It was like a mix between flan and pudding. 1st time there. Service was very good, food not great. We had a rib steak. It was supposed to be medium, was cremated, should've taken a picture. It was 50 percent non edible fat. Jersey mikes gives you more rib steak on their sandwich. Brought it to the attention of our waitress she stated rib steak has fat on it, not inedible fat. I was born at night but not last night. Had small order of spaghetti was good, meatballs ok but dry. San Pellegrino not cold after I asked and was advised it was. Had small plate of mushroom appetizer, not much on the mushrooms. Potatoes that accompanied so called steaks was good Tremendous disappointment after seeing good reviews. Also 2 of our very small appetizers came with our main dishes ( after mine came out). No comment about that from waitress. Host was a less than friendly women. The ambience in this place was great. We went there wanting so much to love it. The wait staff was on it and the atmosphere had a nice vibe. The drinks were great. A lovely lemon drop Martini . However, at the end of the day you are there for the food and the reality is that it was, meh. Honestly the best I could give it. The charred kale was pretty tasteless, the short ribs in the short rib Mac and cheese was bland and uninspired. Nothing we put in our mouths made us want to come back or, quite frankly, finish what we had. That said, nothing terrible. We found Native a couple of yeas ago when looking for local places with vegan options. From the first time to our most recent visit, tonight, we have never been disappointed. Especially tonight, I am most appreciative for them playing phone tag with me, making sure I had a reservation for Father's Day dinner! As usual, the food did not disappoint. Everything was delicious! The meatball appetizer was delicious. Excellent flavors. Their crispy potatoes are always delicious and get the green goddess dressing for dipping! Short Rib Mac and cheese is a feel good dish. Delicious!!! I have never been disappointed in the service either, but tonight we had Candy and wow, can I just say, her personality just topped off a great experience!! This last time we sat at the bar and we were right in front of the chef/owner and it was such a treat to see him at work. The food is amazingly delicious and so are their cocktails. I have dined at Native many many times, usually 2 or 3 times a summer. We always love the food despite the higher prices. This time however, not only is it very expensive but the portion sizes are tiny. The broccolini Ceasar was one strand of broccolini and NO lettuce of any kind. It was pathetic. The pasta portions we ordered were the larger entree size and are smaller than we ever had and certainly less than any of us expected. Very unfortunate that they have taken full advantage of their reputation and raised prices and reduced portion sizes. read more

Lovely place for a family birthday dinner! Server was great, handled our multi generational table of eight with ease. Full of cheer and strong opinions - she did not steer us awry, was super enthusiastic about our birthday celebrant and showed up with cheesecake with a candle! I had the short rib Mac and cheese which was delicious but kind of overwhelming. My bad, since I had already filled up with the excellent toasty bread and butter, crispy potatoes and beets with creamy goat cheese - all of which were fantastic- before the pasta arrived. Everything was plated beautifully and with care, was super fresh and tasty. Traveling with toddlers so didn't want to attempt dining in, but called for takeout which you can do early (we were told order had to be in before 6) before the kitchen got busy. This is really a gem in the area. Everyone was kind and helpful. The food was out of this world. The roasted chicken was decisions. This is The BEST food in town! I am so glad I found this local spot that is still open and serves heartwarming food! I came here for my birthday celebration. They have outdoor seating (weather permitting) and indoor seating. There is PLENTY of street parking! Once you walk inside you are greeted by the hostess with a bright smile and are seated within seconds. (All employees are wearing masks) We got to sit by the open kitchen and see the chefs at work. Our server was with us within a minute or two of sitting and provided us with water. She took our beverage order and explained how to access the menu (via mobile). I tried a couple of their cocktails one being an old fashions and the other being Manhattan. Both were excellent and made to perfection. We ordered A LOT of food so bare with me with the details. Small Plates: Little Neck Clams - YUMMY! If you love seafood order this and get a side of bread to dip in the clam juice on the bottom of the plate. Pork Belly - The maple added so much flavor to this dish and relish topped it off with every bite I had. Meatballs - Were moist and topped with smoked gouda. This dish was mouth watering. Main: House-made Black & White Fettuccine -- clams, lemon-caper sauce - I personally love this dish! It's the same as the little neck clams except with homemade pasta! House-made Ricotta Ravioli -- almond brown butter and thyme - This was a great dish. My other two guests that were with me rated this #1. Shortrib mac and cheese -- six hour braise, parmesan breadcrumbs - I was able to get a bite of this and wow! the perfect amount of shortrib to go with every bite of your mac and cheese. Ribeye -- green onion butter, duck fat potatoes - If you are a meat eater order this! WOW just WOW. It melted in my mouth. No other words. Just mmmmmmm..... Arrived here at 5pm on Saturday with no reservations and we were able to snag a table outside with our small dog (note - only a few 4 tops and 2 tops outside so plan carefully if dining out with your four legged friend). I had the margarita (sub with espelon) while my husband has a soda. We ordered a bunch of things to share - beets, meatballs, ribeye, cavatelli with mushrooms, and a side of kale). Loved everything but the kale which was too salty for our taste. Overall, great service, great food, great drinks, reasonably priced (not super expensive but not inexpensive either) and dog friendly! Another outstanding restaurant in Honesdale. Everything is fresh! It is a true farm to table restaurant. You can see one of the owners (husband and wife business) cooking everyday in an open kitchen. The food is fresh, creative and exciting. It has that big city vibe but its in a very small town. I've been here several times now and I have never been disappointed. It is not an inexpensive place but it will also not break the bank. You can order full servings or half servings of various menu items, which is great for those that want to try a few items or those that have smaller appetites. Both portions are more than enough! Last time there I had their fresh salad with a homemade dressing that was fantastic. Then I had their roasted half chicken with potatoes in a natural jus sauce. Fantastic. The time before I had to try their Short Rib Mac and Cheese and I order the full size, had it for two more days! It was excellent. the food was amazing, our waitress was exceptional, however the front of the house / hostess (who claims to the be manager) should find a new job...has zero experience in customer service. Rude, and disrespectful. My 2 children ordered off the entire menu after dinner they asked to go to gravity ice cream. they came back with 2 small cups of ice cream. when they arrived back to the table the hostess ignorantly belittled them and accused them of spilling it. when asked where it was spilled she couldn't seem to show us. then said I'll be adding a fee to your bill for "cleanup." how about you say I'm so sorry we can't have them bring ice cream in to the restaurant would you mind finishing it outside - to which I would have agreed. unfortunately that's not how it was handled. then had the nerve to ask if we paid our bill as we were walking out. yep paid it and left 30% tip for the waitress (over$600+). don't dare accuse us of skipping the bill. you are in NEPA in a small town - poor reviews are going to hurt a business like this. it's ashame ...do better. When you have classless staff you need to be prepared for them to be belittled -like she did to my children. read more
