We visited Lakeview, yesterday, for our Thanksgiving dinner. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The restaurant was decorated for the holiday but not for Thanksgiving. Garland was silver and beautiful but spoke winter and not autumn. We were seated at a lovely table overlooking the lake. However, the lake is not lit and the view out the window was a black void. We ordered sparkling water. The menu offered one Thanksgiving option and varied dinner options from seafood to pasta. I didn't choose the Thanksgiving option because it was lacking appealing side dishes. Instead, I ordered salmon and a Broccolini Caesar salad to start. The salad was delicious and my husband loved his garden salad. My seared salmon arrived sitting next to small capers in some kind of sauce. My husband ordered scallops and they sat beside risotto. His scallops though seared were undercooked inside. My salmon was nicely seared but small capers as a side? Our dinners were disappointing. We ordered chocolate cheesecake with a brownie crust to go. Trying it after we were home, it was a fluffy top but definitely not cheesecake. Our meals cost $140. I should add that our waitress, Annmarie? was fantastic. I really don't understand why this place has so many negative reviews because the food was excellent and the service was very good as well. We sat right by the water and the ambiance was great. We had the NY strip steak and lamb chops. They were so accommodating to an onion and garlic allergy and gave many different alternatives and made sure it was acceptable for our taste and it was still delicious. The lobster mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

Everything about this place was so good. Social distancing, seating, serving times, fireplace, and most importantly, food! My husband says that wagyu filet is the best steak he ever had. He showered praises literally on every morsel. For the appetizers, we ordered the flatbread. The blue crab on the flatbread was amazing! I got the lamb shank and the portion was generous, came with a side of rice and carrots. The lamb didn't need a knife. It was so well cooked, it fell apart with the fork! A little late on this review- I was here early fall, but I need to give credit where it's due. I've never had a better waitress than I have here and every now and then when I eat somewhere subpar I remember Charisse from my short vacation in the area. Starting with the restaurant itself, I hadn't been here in years and neither had my boyfriend's family. Unfortunately it's just not like it used to be. The interior needs a serious update- the floor and chairs especially. I didn't feel like I was fine dining like I had dressed for. But the large windows showing the amazing view was absolutely beautiful and really helped set the tone to the evening. There's vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options here! And with a large selection of wine to choose from, this is a great dining choice for anyone (other than children). We had a few issues with our food unfortunately, the only issue worth really mentioning is that the oysters had broken shells and weren't shucked right. However, our waitress saw our discontent and was quick to ask us about our problem and fix our meals. We were very grateful how she and her manager completely turned around the evening for us. We will return soon, we just hope to see the quality of this place begin to increase again. It's sad to see people in jeans when this place used to be more formal, but the dining area itself needs an elegant upgrade anyway. read more

I went here with my husband and it looked empty besides 3 tables. We weren't greeted until we were already waiting 5 minutes. When someone finally came over they asked if we had a reservation and we did not and apparently that upset her. She said we would have to wait 20 minutes and that was fine. We said we would wait at the bar and she basically said we wouldn't receive any service because the waitress was so busy. Then another couple walked in without a reservation and were seated right away and they were told they didn't need a reservation because it wasn't busy. I cannot believe that I am the first person to leave a review here. The sky top was built in 1926 and is a beautiful resort in the mountains. The history here is incredible and the food is fabulous it is like going back in time, if you saw the movie dirty dancing with Patrick Swaysee you will be able to relate to this place. Staying at the Skytop Lodge, my husband and I decided to check this place out for a more upscale dinner. We had the cheese board for our appetizer. Fresh and delicious variety of Italian cheeses with nice accompaniments. I got the shrimp fettuccine and my husband got the bone in veal special, both were phenomenal. We shared the cannoli pie for dessert; which was just okay. Wasn't bad, just nothing I'd get again. Our waiter, Craig, was so friendly and attentive. Horrible experience. We went here with High hopes for a birthday dinner. The ambiance is very nice with beautiful views. Our food was brought out at different times. My husband sat and watched me eat my entire meal while we sat around waiting for his to come out. We didn't see the waiter for over 30 minutes. This is a very expensive restaurant and we do not treat ourselves very often. His meal came out a full 45 minutes after I was finished eating. We took it to go since we were so upset. This is an expensive restaurant and to eat $35 steak out of a to go container just isn't the same. Would not recommend or come here ever again. read more

My husband and I are vegans. When we got to the Lake view restaurant we were concerned all we could eat was salads. Our server spoke to the Chef and Chef Ray came out and explained what he could make for us. Risotto with tomato purée topped with spinach and fried mushrooms. It was amazing. The Skytop Lodge is wonderful and classy with an ambiance of the old world. The very elegant restaurants have superb service. The food however, is disappointing and doesn't come close to the quality one would expect. Although the ingredients are of a high quality, the food in all the restaurants is bland and uninspiring, leaving you to wonder why. Breakfast is better, but the pastry is not freshly baked. There is a real opportunity for improvement there. read more
