    Lamb Chops

I really don't understand why this place has so many negative reviews because the food was excellent and the service was very good as well. We sat right by the water and the ambiance was great. We had the NY strip steak and lamb chops. They were so accommodating to an onion and garlic allergy and gave many different alternatives and made sure it was acceptable for our taste and it was still delicious. The lobster mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. I'd definitely eat here again.

Outstanding food, impeccable service in Skytop, with shuttle service from the Skytop Lodge. I have been here when we stayed at the Skytop Lodge, and the talent of the chef/s and attentiveness of the servers has been above and beyond. The food has been creative, well presented and delicious.

So we experienced both Lakeview and Windsor restaurants at skytop and feel they are comparable. My entree at Lakeview was more enjoyable. Moroccan chicken) my husband preferred his entree at Wi ndsor more(veal mignon). We both enjoyed the fireplace and cocktails on the deck at Lakeview. Service was good. No complaints. The view in Lakeview was better than Windsor.

Beautiful views of lake. Nice dining room, like that there is plenty of rooms between tables. Food was presented very well. But overall disappointed with quality of food for price paid. Food was just ok. Salmon was dry. Pasta undercooked. Dessert a real disappointment. Improvement of food will bring next rating up.

I cannot believe that I am the first person to leave a review here. The sky top was built in 1926 and is a beautiful resort in the mountains. The history here is incredible and the food is fabulous it is like going back in time, if you saw the movie dirty dancing with Patrick Swaysee you will be able to relate to this place. The service is top notch and well worth the drive. Maybe I am the first because most people are overwhelmed with the ambiance and service and forget to leave a review.

Despite not having a reservation, we were able to be seated. But I do suggest planning ahead and reserving a table. Especially if you visit during high season. Anyhow, the service was excellent. Our server, Sam was extremely attentive. She explained the menu to you and shared some recommendations. We started out with a Caesar salad to share and knew right then that the servings would be ample! The kitchen was kind enough to split the salad for us between two plates and I'd have thought just half was shareable. But lucky us, plenty to indulge. We absolutely LOVED the dressing but found it a slight tad heavy handed. If we make it back, we'd definitely ask for dressing on the side. But nonetheless we appreciated the authentic Caesar dressing complete with anchovy paste. For entrees we had the penne vodka with sausage and shrimp 360. Both plates were big enough to feed an army and made for nice left overs. But make no mistake, both were delicious! Hit it out of the park, delicious! And beautiful al denté pasta. This meal really hit the spot. Even though we were completely stuffed, we managed to find room for homemade pumpkin cheesecake! I don't say this lightly, but it was hands down the best slice of cheesecake I've ever had. We couldn't stop raving about out it! This is a great restaurant to visit when visiting the Poconos. The setting was elegant in an understated way while being incredibly cozy! I think it would be great for larger groups but also intimate enough for couples.

It was founded by members of the Pipolo family, including Bill Jr. and his wife Kim. The Pipolo family, including father Bill Sr. and mother Fabiana, had moved to the Poconos area from the Bronx, New York in 1984. Bill Sr. had a construction business which sons Bill Jr. and Peter worked in after graduating from high school. Bill Jr. first had some experience in the hospitality business when he owned the Calico Kitchen in Canadensis. When a location formerly home to Harrison's Tavern became available, the Pipolo family acquired it with the intention of turning it into an authentic Italian restaurant. The whole building was completely redesigned to resembled a trattoria in an Italian mountain village. Basso became a full Pipolo family endeavor. Even the grandchildren can be seen greeting guests and bussing tables from time to time. Bill Jr. and Peter later purchased the former Jagermeister German restaurant down the street and turned it into the PourHouse Neighborhood Bar & Grille after a renovation. My family and I visited Basso for dinner on a recent trip to the Poconos. We had previously visited the Pipolos' other restaurant, The PourHouse, and were excited to try their take on authentic Italian fare. The interior was nice and cozy. After looking over the menu, my wife and I decided to start out with some cocktails. I had the "Limoncello Spritzer" while she had the "Peach Berry Pink Sangria". Both were very refreshing! For our entrees, I had the "Pork Chop Di Parma" (juicy 12-oz. pork chop topped with prosciutto and red wine demi-glaze served over risotto), my wife had the "Cherry Red Shrimp" (sautéed shrimp with garlic, cherry tomatoes in a fresh basil butter sauce over linguine), our older son had "Tortelloni with a Pink Sauce", and our younger son had "Baked Ziti". Although the wait for the food was a little long, it was well worth it because everything was to die for! Our server was also very friendly and helpful. It's also worth noting that parking is very limited, so definitely try to stop in on the early side. We had an excellent experience at Basso and give them our seal of approval!

We tried the wine-pairing menu, and by the third dish I was already completely satisfied, which says a lot about the quality and richness of the experience. The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and welcoming. Chef Nicola is amazing and personally greets patrons, which makes the entire evening feel special and intimate. The wine selection is incredible, with what feels like endless options, and the pairings were thoughtful and delicious. The waitstaff were also exceptional, very knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food and wine. They explained each dish and pairing with confidence and care, making the experience even better. Momento is truly a gem. From the chef to the service, the wine, the atmosphere, and the food, everything felt elevated and memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special dining experience. E

The hostess and I guess manager informed us that they were completely booked and all the open tables were reservations. After leaving I looked at opentable only to see I could have booked any table inside for 3 people at any time within the following 2 hours. So they lied. Only reason to do that is that they didn't want kids inside (we have a tall 10yr old who looks 12) Why not just say so! This is the worst I have ever been treated by a restaurant!

Kids got their food 30 minutes before the adults, so they were finished by the time the adults' food arrived. Inaccuracies, even after taking so long. Way too salty, some things pre-prepared/reheated (chicken parm especially egregious) but still arrived cold. "100 layer lasagna bolognese" was literally a generic mountain of basic salty meat sauce with a little linguine. It's garbage. They know it. They think that giving you a bucket of it will make up for it. It does not. At least it was hot, which is apparently a bar they typically are unable to reach. Waiter was MIA. Food service was wandering with dishes, unaware of what table they were going to. Especially frustrating when you've been waiting an hour for your order. Our large group was promised a full table in a room. They sat us at two awkward, separate tables in the middle of the restaurant. This is while we can clearly see multiple, empty rooms during our entire 2 1/2 hour time there. They claim the food is authentic Italian. It was so bad all around, that if I was Italian, I'd be offended. Overpriced slop.
