Just realized that after visiting this spot over and over again for many years I never took the time to write a review! Ratafia is definitely one of my fave spots in town for so many reasons, but mainly because they have been consistent in terms of service, quality of food and creativity for years. The interior is gorgeous whether you're seated at the bar or at a table, you won't feel the difference. This time I was seated at the bar, the barman was amazing. I ordered from the salted menu with a pavlova and two Mocktails, and as usual, everything was amazing!

Best staff and amazing desserts that constantly change with the seasons. The pastry chef always tries to include different ingredients. Each dessert is a masterpiece. Wine pairing is exquisite.

I have gone to Ratafia multiple times and never could get any decent pictures as the lighting in there is dark and romantic. Tonight however, mission accomplished!!! This dessert & wine pairing establishment is quite unique to Montreal not only for the concept but especially for their dessert creations. Everything is always so colorful & contain lots of different textures & tastes. Tonight I got the Jardin en Ville which has raw cocoa beans polvorones, ginger pastry cream, pink peppercorn & lime strawberry tartar, confit tomatoes with a syrup of tomato & basil. It was delicious!!! A perfect amount of sweets with good balance between the sweet, acidity, creamy and a hint of peppery My friend had the Medovik and it was also very good. A layered cake of burnt honey cake & sour cream, chamomile chantilly, sponge toffee, flowers, buckwheat & raw honey If you still haven't been here by now, I highly recommend it. A night out with friends or a date, everyone will be happy :)

Oh my! This place is a complete treat in a relatively quiet spot of town on the north side of the main. My friend and I were explained the meaning of Ratafia. The word means the bottom remnants of a barrel of wine that is zhuzhed up and made into a dessert...ish type of wine. The lovely waitress told us that the two owners joined their passion of wine and desserts together and made this baby of a bar. The place has only been opened for a few months and looks fantastic. The Art Deco interior blends so well with their wine bar and dessert bistro idea. I hope you enjoy this spot as much as I do.

Went to Ratafia for Valentine's and it did not disappoint! They had a 5 service tasting menu for this occasion. With each service it just kept getting better and better. I can't decide which one was my favourite, they were all so good. If you have a craving for something sweet Ratafia will not disappoint. Definitely going back. Still have to try their birthday cake!

I'm not a dessert person but wow! Ratafia shook me. Service was a bit off, I found our waitress was really overwhelmed and left us waiting a while before we could order. However, the desserts here were mind blowing. I ordered a honey something cake (sorry I didn't write the items down lol) but it was soft and moist, simply has me digging in for more. I also ordered an espresso and house made BBQ chips (I know random!), also so good. The decor is really nice, setting a lovely tone and mood. I wish it was my birthday everyday so I could come here to celebrate.

During October, I received a birthday gift card from my friend who is also a fellow yelper for Ratafia. She mentioned that their cakes are awesome. Finally, before there could be a major lockdown, I decided to get myself some sweet treats. Outside of the restaurant, I love the sign written #cakeout! I found it funny and sweet in this pandemic. It is a small restaurant, I went to the cash, and told the lady that I have gift card, then she ran away from me and brought me someone else. Then I realized that she doesn't speak English, then I told her she shouldn't have run, I do speak French very well. So I asked them to recommend me what should I take. In the end, I got Medovik, a honey based cake, then crème de chou, made with pumpkin purée and a brownie based cake. Despite a little mishap of the language misunderstanding, the service was excellent. Both girls at front were very sweet. The sweet treats were so so so so beautiful looking, I felt I can keep them as decors. Each treats were heavenly. The best parts are that there were not too sweet, and they have very light feeling for the belly. What an experience of taste. I am hoping when the restaurants are open again, I want to sit inside enjoy the cakeout as cakein.

Holy heck! This place is so amazing. Every dessert was phenomenal, especially the popular honey one. So happy this place exists. The owners were so nice too.

I loved the desserts here! They were very creative and absolutely delicious! The staff were very attentive and sweet! Highly recommend

If I could give them 6 stars out of 5 I would. This place had such unique desserts that will take you on a whole new journey and introduce you to a world of desserts. We got Citron, Medovik, Eclair, and Prelude - Medovik was my favourite! The desserts were so delicately put together and the flavours complemented each other so well.

I can't tell you how much I love this spot! I was here with a group of girlfriends on a Friday night and we were totally impressed by the service, the ambiance, the wine and all that dessert! This was my third visit to this little Italy spot, and surely will not be my last! This time we tried the special tasting menu set out for Valentine's Day and we were floored! Not only are the dessert super creative and delicious, that tasting menu was so generous, we hardly finished our shared portions! They also have a smaller tasting on the regular menu which I totally recommend if you'd like to get an idea of the creativity and deliciousness offered; otherwise, spoil yourself with anything off the menu; the bombe and bday cake are outstanding! Don't forget toe wine pairing, you will not be disappointed with the variety! The service is always super friendly, and you'll love the casual vibe; makes for a great night out! Can't wait for my next visit!

It was around 3pm and of course we were the only people there, but generally didn't find the service to be that friendly or accommodating - it was more courteous and efficient as opposed to being very welcoming, which is totally fine. Overall, like many wine bars in Montreal, the BTG and bottle list skews very heavily toward natural or minimal intervention wines from all over the world (except the United States due to tariff boycotts). Although Quebec is a burgeoning wine producing region (often overshadowed by BC wines from Okanagan and ON ice wines), I found many lists did not offer much from the region, which is really disappointing. vinvinvin definitely had the most options available (perhaps 5-6 total of 40-50+ labels) and many BTG, which is great if you're looking to try some local wines. They do offer food, but the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm so we didn't try anything. Overall, I like the decor of the place and it seems like it'd be a really fun place to hang out with friends. But given that we were the only clients there at the time, I wish the service was a bit friendlier.

Prices were okay, and wine selection is not too bad. We got a couple of vermouths, which were nice to drink. We ordered olives to nibble on and I thought those were good. Decor looks unpretentious at least, but a bit too crowded for my taste. It's an okay place to visit if you want some pre-dinner beverages.

I found the cuisine to be vibrant and healthful, with bright and energizing flavors that were well executed overall. The staff are knowledgable about the menu and dish conception, and generally pleasant and friendly to converse with. (Jacqual: B) - Simply presented drink that features hibiscus and citrus with zero proof beer, which I found fascinating. The beer notes are in the background prevailed by the sourness of the other components, where I wish there was a little more added sweetness. (Fried Maitake: A) - Perfectly seasoned dish with tender and high surface area mushrooms coated in an impressly crisp batter given the moisture usually found in mushrooms. The seasoning could not be better with the salt and spice combo; the chive and parsley mayo also add an herbaceous depth of flavor. (Heirloom Tomatoes: A) - Pefectly plated tomatoes with a surprising sunflower seed forward profile given the subtleness of the ingredient; the dish is well balanced and brings out the harmonious flavors of the garden, although I think the bites with flake salt had that even more perfect note. (Hanger Steak: A+) - Beautifully perfected cut of beef with Asian inspiration; the steak is juicily pink with a charred exterior; the carrot ginger puree has a lovely mild and lingering spice, with some additional spice coming from the shishito and the pickled jalapeno. Beautiful dish. (Peach Sorbet: C) - Flavorally pleasant dessert with peach three ways and a nut crumble to add crunch; the sorbet was very hard though and could have benefitted from spirits in the churning process.
