This was my last meal at the end of my trip to Montreal. It a very cute Totoro inspired restaurant. The inside is quite small. I don't recommend coming here before you head off to the airport. My GOD!!!!! I have to hand it to this place for the insane crème brûlée Crêpe. First of all that's not a typical item you find around town, so major plus points for the innovation of this menu item. But in addition to it being creative, it was ingeniously created with the best possible flavors you could imagine. It was delicious as well as true creativity in food. I like crème brûlée, so when I had this I was thinking how bad could it be, I like crepes and I like crème brûlée, the worst thing would be that I only like it and not love it. I also noticed it was their most popular dish.. So I decided to give it a go. The torched sugar was just the right thickness on top so that it was easy to break and not cause a spillage of the custard, but I also noticed some brown sugar sauce or flavor existed towards the middle and bottom of the crepe which I thought was genius as the flavor from the first few bites remained in your pallet. It was subtle but still there to some small degree. I realized this once I ate half of it but there was bananas towards the middle and bottom and luckily custard and the other flavors were still mixed in, and all over the crepe too. So there was never a point from start to finish that the fabulous taste of this Crêpe diminished in any way. When I was done with it, I was dumbfounded thinking.. wow.. I didn't know a crepe could ever be that good. My go to dessert is typically not a crepe so that really got me shocked. I also had a savory crepe, it was the ham and cheese one and it had an egg over easy on it when it broke added a lot of nice flavor. It was good but I got some hot sauce on the side for it to kick it up a little notch. The Natella chocolate Crêpe was good too but it really can't compare to the crème brûlée one. I really wanted to love this place but the savoury crépe (M12) and salted caramel latte did not do it for me. The latte was too sweet and coffee was acidic. I could not finish the drink. The crepe was just fine, nothing too special. I would recommend the sweet crepe (the brûlée) was delicious! Not too sweet and a fun concept. Okay so I really wanted to like this place...I really did...but I am soo disappointed. So first impression was good, as we walked up it really did look like the absolute cutest cafe. I ordered the rose latte because I saw it on there online menu yet it was not posted on the board inside. It did not seem to be an issue she knew exactly what I wanted. Another PRO: The bathroom all though small and you have to ask for a key to use it, was very clean! Okay now for the CONS.... I hate being charged for plant based milk. I get it, it's popular but come on you are telling me that soaking oats that cost nothing makes me have a surcharge over someone having to feed, house, and then milk a living animal!? Makes no sense, and I do accept the fact that most establishments do this, but still it will always be a con in my book. 2nd Con is that Parking is terrible by the cafe. Not the cafes fault at all, they just happen to be adjacent to Old Montréal and the Port so it's a popular area. But I still thought I would mention it incase you are planning to drive here. *** So now for my MAJOR CON: For me to pay $6 CAD for a drink (which includes my plant based milk surcharge) it should be great or at least good but it was far from it. First of all, the whole reason I went to this cafe is because they had amazing latte art posted online. I'm talking like owls and other animals that almost look 3D. The latte art I got was just something regular, whomp whomp whomp. Then the drink just wasn't good. It had no rose flavoring and it was definitely over saturated with oat milk. Now don't get me wrong it wasn't nasty it just tasted like coffee with a bunch of milk. In my husbands words, " that drink was whack." Now if it wasn't $6 CAD maybe I wouldn't be so salty about it but since it was that expensive for a small latte, I was very salty! I honestly wanted to go back in the store and ask if they could exchange it for a matcha. I knew I should have ordered a matcha, they offered two on there menu- regular & chocolate. I mean I really really really wanted to ask them to exchange it, but I didn't. I will say to be fair people were eating inside the cafe when we went and the food looked good but we didn't try it, so maybe that's worth it? And maybe the rose latte is just terrible and that's why they took it off the inside menu? So maybe there is hope for there matcha and other drinks?! Just a tip to the cafe, they should probably take the rose latte off of there online menu too. Don't trick people into ordering cool sounding drinks that don't deliver. It should more appropriately be titled milk latte with a few dried rose petals spread on top. That would then be 100% factual. So until I have extra money to blow and I can take the risk of trying other things this cafe has to offer, I'm leaving this review at two stars because there are way too many awesome cafes in Montréal for this cafe not to bring their A game! read more

This place is such a cute brunch place! I discovered it thanks to my partner and I liked it! It's an Asian-inspired coffee place and I noticed there's a tiny bit of Hayao Miyazaki's "Totoro" in it! It's well-located in the Old Montréal. Service was a little bit slow but I think it was because I was the first customer of the day and they were opening. The staff was polite. The fruits were very tasty. TBH the omelette was cold inside which is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. My friend also ordered the creme brûlée crepe which he said was phenomenal. The creme brûlée crepe was really interesting--it was literally a crime brûlée in a crepe cone. I liked the trois frommages crepe plus it came with a salad on the side which is always a plus. We were walking through old town and I decided I needed a crepe. Checked on yelp and Muru had really great reviews, so I called to make sure they were open (I've been surprised at how many places in Montreal were closed when they were supposedly open, according to yelp... not yelp's fault, I think it's just too cold outside). Luckily I did call because I found out that the kitchen closes an hour earlier than what is listed on yelp. The restaurant is really cute. It was cozy and cafe-y and we were the only once's inside. I ordered my crepe for $14 and my friends ordered other items including a matcha latte. When the matcha latte came out, it was maybe the best part of our night lol. It has the cutest little Totoro drawn ontop. Of course, we later find out that one of the waiters was a latte art champion! Whaaat!!? Yeah, super cool. My crepe was good, too. It's very conveniently located next to the water, and we walked/slid down to the Ferris wheel when we were finished. They also offer more substantial food and drinks, like alcoholic drinks. Came in for late lunch. Little drizzling rain and feeling like udon but opted for the D'Accord crepe. Really good. Came with a side garden salad which was amazingly lush and green. The dressing was simple, light and refreshing. Nice bright space. Lots of natural light and high ceilings. It's nice here after the lunch rush because its nice and mellow, good music, a perfect place to do a little work. Took the time to write out some plans for an upcoming project when the young ladies at a couple tables down started talking about Kate Spade. I was like WTF??? So I joined their conversation. While wandering through the edge of Old Montreal, I stumbled upon this cafe. From the outside, it looks like a cute French style corner cafe. I was craving coffee so I went in. It's mainly a sit-down restaurant with a place to order coffee and pastries on the go. The decor inside isn't as nice looking as the outside and some of it is borderline cheesy. February 21, 2019 - After visiting Notre-Dame Basilica (MTL) we decided to go for lunch. We looked for a café in the area and decided to go to Muru Café. This wonderful family owned restaurant is very clean, cozy and cute. The owner was very friendly and nice. My cousins ordered the D'accord and Creme Brûlée. I ordered something a Smoked Salmon Sandwich. D'accord 4/5 - My cousin said that the mustard was in one area of the Crêpe and it over powered it. Creme Brûlée 5/5 - we all loved it!! This goes down on my list of best breakfasts. Top 5? Yeah, I think so. We went on a Friday morning in May and it was my most memorable meal of the dozen or so that I had in Montreal! My wife had the creme brulee crepe, I had a savory crepe. The coffee was great and the matcha latte (as you can see from the picture) had the most amazing artwork. The location was near the heart of the Old Port district, but it was a couple of blocks away from the center of everything. Actually, I think that helps keep the vibe. If it was right on the main square or near the basilica, you might have tourists wander in. As it is, though, people have to seek this place out and that's what we did. I can't imagine there are more creative crepes in town and there certainly isn't better latte art! The atmosphere was good: it's small, calm, and clean. The service was fine and I thought the prices were a bit on the high side. If we are ever back in Montreal, I will try this spot at lunch. read more

This is a charming creperie at the edge of the old city, quiet and surrounded by elegant restaurants and a mix of modern and older apartments. The crepe filled with chicken, spinach, and a well-seasoned mushroom sauce was excellent. This was accompanied by perfect battered fries and a salad with fresh greens, tomatoes, and a dressing made from a very flavorful olive oil. It was an excellent light meal all together. My husband got a crepe filled with mozzarella cheese, beef, eggplant, and some additional Italian vegetables. It was a little too cheesy for our tastes, so be prepared. Their espresso drinks are definitely worth a stop on their own. We enjoyed a cappuccino and a caramel macchiato while sitting by the window and watching a sudden lightning storm roll by. First it was brought out with the salmon still in it despite ordering with no meat. Next one out I discovered that the eggs were raw not scrambled. Made the best of it but wasn't my favorite. So I want to start that my man and I didn't have crepes so I'm a little biased. I had an omelette with potatoes. First, the cafe is super cute. Definitely a French vibe and it's location not right on the main drag in the Old Port area makes this a neighborhood gem and looking at others devour their crepes definitely a solid spot. The omelette was good. Nothing crazy, or anything you'd see on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives but just a small omelette with some fresh ingredients. As someone on a diet, I was stoked to have some roasted potatoes to accompany the omelette as advertised on the menu, but instead they were deep fried (womp womp). I sampled a few for the sake of this review (the things I do for Yelp) and they were of course awesome but again, these home fries were deep fried. I didn't eat the bread but it was thick cuts of fresh bread. Carbs, hmmmmmmmm. Overall a definite solid spot for a moderate priced lunch. It's a small, well decorated place that was able to accommodate us for lunch around the prime lunch hour. Here's what we ordered: -deliciuex ($9.50): filled with grilled eggplant, parmesan and mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce and choice of beef, chicken (what I choose) or veggies -incroyable ($9.50): filled with bocconcini (Italian cheese; like mozzarella), tomatoes, pesto, olives, fresh basil and pine nuts -magnifique ($7.50): filled (and I mean, FILLED) with Nutulla, bananas and strawberries with whipped cream served on the side All 3 crepes were outstanding and the portions are quite filling. The savory crepes are served with fries or salad. Here's a note: your crepe will already come with a small salad so you might as well just order fries, unless you want a bigger portion of salad. Service was noticeably slow with diners looking around for their food or for the employees to bring them the menu. The owner (?) did come around to each table to make sure everything was okay though. When you're done, go up to the cash register and pay. If you're not feeling like eating a crepe, they also serves sandwiches and egg dishes, which looked equally tasty as well. Muru Crêpe was really good! During our stay in Old Montreal in February, we were on the hunt for a creperie within walking distance. Their hours online said that they'd open at 9:30am, however, when we arrived around 10am they were just then opening their doors. Thankfully we got there just in time because after we sat the place filled up immediately. The service was so-so, however, when 15 tables are seated at once, it's not going to be easy to take care of everyone in a timely manner. Still, maybe adding an additional server during this busy rush could be helpful. I had the crepes with banana, strawberry, and nutella and my fiancée had the banana, nutella, and vanilla ice cream. Took my best friend here when she came to visit me from Toronto. The service was incredibly slow. It took a good 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledge us and another solid 40 minutes before our food arrived. Nobody even bothered to refill our water. As for the food, I ordered a savory crepe with chicken, spinach and pesto (~$12) while my best friend opted for a sweet crepe with banana, strawberry and nutella ($15). Clean, modern, tasty food for a light coffee and some snacks. My family and I were visiting from outside the country and needed a place to eat before we left. This was for breakfast, there's some vegan options here which is great. Waiter was very succinct and had provided some recommendations. The menu was clear. I ended up ordering the croissant and some jam, their selection of two cookies and trying their ginger kombucha. The kombucha kind of tasted like ACV lightly with a kick of ginger seltzer, in a good way. It was pretty tasty. The cookies were filled with flavour and the croissant was nice and smooth and full of lovely layers.
