Super tasty casual restaurant! Just really good food in a relaxed setting. Love this place, especially the back outdoor space. Cannot wait to come back.

Very expensive but amazing dinner! These are small plates so keep that in mind. Our waiter was nice enough to let us know it is recommended to order about 2-3 plates per person and he was absolutely correct. It is a very cute date night spot or a place to go with friends. It's very cozy inside! Highly recommend! Our favorites was the eel and the maple cake!

    Ham. The best ham.

This place is incredible. I've never had a ham dish as incredible as the one we had tonight. Then the carrot cake ice cream sandwich will be a memory I carry for my lifetime. Brian the bartender is a "gem" says the owner and we agree. This is a must stop if you come to Montreal.

Absolutely outstanding Shiitake mushrooms were deeeeelicious and the sour cherry sorbet with goat cheese and Panna cotta was special. I wish they had a Sauternes!

Always love coming to vin papillon to try specialties of the season using local ingredients. Highly recommend coming here if you have the chance. The menu changes with every season so I will spare the description to leave the element of surprise ... 1 dish that I absolutely love and can't explain why it's so good (it's so simple) is the ham and cheese! I think they keep this as a regular in the menu. It's so worth it! Also love their selection of natural wines.

Favourite date night spot! A nice wine selection to pair with well executed dishes. Seasonal & limited ingredients which makes every time here a little surprise. Definitely try the roasted tuna with mandarin & capers before it runs out, unexpected pairing but such a pleasant bite. -1 star simply for no longer serving the Vin Papillon classic: carrot eclair :(

I was so excited to try vin papillon as I love their sister restaurants (Liverpool House, Joe Beef and McKiernan) and I had heard many great reviews. The atmosphere is similar to that of their sister restaurants; cozy, warm, rustic-chic. We had a bottle of natural wine that was recommended to us along with the beef tartare served with bone marrow toast, squash croquettes, celery root dish, the 'little burgundy ham' (served with avonlea cheddar and brown butter), and chocolate financier for dessert (with a glass of bubbles). Overall, the food did not exceed my expectations. I found the food to be a little bit underwhelming given the hype and reputation around the restaurant and overall too rich (especially their signature ham and cheese and the celery root dishes; I loved the first two bites of each but then couldn't eat more of it). I would eventually like to give them another try and try other items on their menu as I adore their sister restaurants and I did have a great time overall; service was good, drinks were good, atmosphere was nice. I'm not in a rush to head back in the immediate future but I will be sure to report back upon another visit! Overall: 3.5 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Value: 3.5

Raspberry and Cardamom millefeuille-Looked nice but nothing special IMO

Had an early dinner last July. we ordered a few dishes to share. The place is pretty cozy with a nice terrasse at the back. I am not a fan of the heat and with the unpredictable summer we've been having in Montreal, I didn't want to risk dining al fresco so we stayed indoors. Hubby enjoyed the wine selection (he had three glasses). Appreciated how the wine cost the same ($15/glass). We ordered a few dishes to share. I have to say the highlight was the haricot "tonato" -I'm a meat lover so I cannot believe I'm saying this but I could easily eat a tub of these veggies! I'd go back just for that! The dessert choices were not very interesting so we just shared one (framboise millefeuille). It was ok. It got pretty busy fast by the time it was 6:30 PM on a Saturday night so best to book a table ahead of time. CONS: When the server offered us bread, it would've been nice to inform us that we'd be charged for it. Good butter though!

Just amazing. No pretension. The service and the food speak for themselves. One of our top 5 experiences anywhere.

The service was the bad part. They skipped over a lot of people and were kinda rude. They told a few people that "just so you know so you aren't like your friend, tipping isn't included"... They were being rude because they didn't tip when it's always optional. The people who didn't tip weren't really served and didn't eat... I don't know, not an ideal situation for the group mixed with the service. The lady that serviced us was super nice but the two men who helped with the party were not. It would probably be better as just a sit down casual spot and not for an event.

There were full tables, but not too loud or squished. Cozy, I would say. Luckily there was a table for the two of us. We came for a post-dinner wine so we didn't order any food items off their menu soir. I got a rose and my friend got one of the cocktails, the tea punch. The cocktail menu is limited but they have a decent selection of a variety of wines. There was already a small bowl of lemon and pepper popcorn, that I couldn't help snacking on, hah! Wine and cocktail was good. I liked that we could easily converse without loud music. My friend ended up getting a dessert, the chocolate and maple crumble. I had a bite - pretty good! Definitely very maple-y. Staff spoke English and French fluently. Quite nice and efficient. I also really liked that there is a bus stop directly outside and the bus takes you to the MTL metro station, which was awesome because it was snowing and I was not looking forward to walking 20 mins in the snow.
