Phenomenal modern restaurant in the funky, diverse, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood (Ho-Ma). Superb service greets in this bright, airy space with decent canned music. We highly recommend the reasonably priced tasting menu but not so much the unique wine pairing. The wine list is very good for getting a bottle instead. Every dish was gorgeous and delicious. Best dish was the local sweetbreads. We loved sitting by the window boardwalking in that hood during the meal. Oh, and endless homemade sourdough?? Crazy!

Really special experience at Helicoptere!! We went for a celebratory tasting menu as a group of 6 and had such an amazing time there. Delicious cocktails, great service, and unique, memorable flavorful dishes. Every cocktail we had was balanced and mixed with care. I'm still thinking about the house made sourdough and butter, simply divine. My favorite dishes were the whipped feta and mushroom, along with the scallop with Lima bean and later the guinea fowl. We were full but not too full! Its a small intimate space but not especially formal, more cozy and green. I would 100% return and recommend it for an amazing culinary experience in Montreal

Rated as one of the best in Montreal, we secured a reservation about a month out. We were probably the only non-French speaking clientele.. Cozy and lively. Great service. Cocktails (w/ some wine by the glass during dinner). Oysters to start with entrees being "special porc" and duck. A nice and memorable evening. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 4/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 2/5 (close tables and lively diners) Decor 3/5 Damages with tip was $235 USD.

I wanted to treat my parents do an anniversary dinner and ended up picking this spot. Helicoptere is a little bit out of the way from the heart of downtown Montreal but it's worth a trek if you have the time. We opted for the tasting menu and left feeling very full. The tasting menu consisted of many small plates, organized into 4 different sections (2 waves of appetizers, 1 series of mains and dessert). The mushroom appetizer is one of their most popular dishes and was very yummy. Since I had noted that we were celebrating an anniversary, they added a sparkler to the dessert which was a nice touch. Overall, all the dishes were tasty, plated well and relatively unique, although not mind blowing. One thing to note is that their tasting menu is served as "family style". Each plate of food is typically a 2 person serving, so as a party of 3, we got 2 plates of everything (1 plate was a full size and 1 plate was half size). Something to keep in mind if you are going with people you are less close with.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner experience at Hélicoptère. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. The atmosphere, service and food were all stellar. We opted for the tasting menu which was $65 (Canadian) for 10 dishes (tapas sized). I thought it was a great value and a decent amount of food added up. I doubt big eaters will leave hungry (but maybe not stuffed). Some highlights of the tasting menu were the mackerel crudo, the beef tartare and the oyster mushroom dishes. My wife also loved the rum cake dessert topped with rhubarb and gelato. Every dish was well-balanced and complemented each other nicely. Not only did everything taste light and fresh, but the plating was pretty as well. Dishes were colorful and detailed, topped with edible flowers and garnishes. I opted for the wine pairing for an extra $50 and I thought it was worthwhile. I believe I got 5 wines (well 4 wines and 1 cider). They were wines I wouldn't normally have tried, including a white wine from Czech Republic, an orange wine from Italy and also a Turkish red wine. The service was attentive and food came out promptly. Our waitress was sweet and did not mind explaining the dishes in English. The atmosphere was laid back, while still being upscale. I would return to Hélicoptère in a heartbeat.

If you're lucky, you'll find this spot before it gets a Michelin Star (so you can brag you found it first). If you're really lucky, Lauri-Ann will be your table ambassador; her smile and warmth are just as memorable as the insanely delicious food. Don't wait. Boat tour? Museum? Stroll old town? Sure. But then get here. Don't. miss. this.

Wow. Just wow. Not only the best meal I've ever had, but the best meal for value as well. Some people are hesitant to try tasting menus because they believe that it won't fill you up, but trust me when I say you MUST do the tasting menu here. To start, we got Trout and it was delicious. This is followed by a course of their famous oyster mushroom dish (the tasting menu is season but this mushroom dish has stayed a constant for 4 years) , beef tar tar and then bread with house made butter and sausage. This was followed by their sweet bread which is by far the best course with the use of the neck gland in veal. The main course was lamb ragù over polenta and carrots. We finished off with olive oil cake and berry sorbet. PHENOM!!! Our waiter Nick and bartender Raffaella were the MOST hospitable. A MUST for anyone visiting Montreal!

If you want to expand your palette. This would be a place to go to! The flavors of each plate was paired out very well. We was lucky to be served by Laurie. Phenomenal server. She knew what we wanted and what goes well with choice of wine. She was friendly and a hoot! Yes, I said "hoot" Yes, I have an old soul! The tomato salad was amazing, the cauliflower puree on the pasta, the beef tar tar especially was one of my top favorites. They may have an updated menu since yelp doesn't seem to have it updated. Overall, if you came hungry and looking for beasting. This is NOT the place. But, if you are here to open your palette and try new interesting flavors and hang with the cool kids. This would be the spot! Great for large groups and small if you just want to chit chat and nipple on things.

One of the best restaurants found in Montreal or even Canada. The meals are outstanding, the food have so many combinations of flavours and textures and couldn't even be described. The waiters are super polite and speak both French and English so myself and my family where able to make easy communication. The time for the food to be prepared and served is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. There is really nice background music to enjoy a conversation. I want to thank our waiter Cedric for the wonderful experience that he took us through. Can't wait to come back.

Great food and portions are good. My favorite dish was the beef tartare and the short rib. Excellent service by Philippe. I would definitely recommend it. We also had a great rose wine from Swatland. Highly recommend.

We went to the Cafe, open for breakfast and lunch. It was delicious. We had the cauliflower soup. It was outstanding. Wonderful flavor. I had the yogurt, granola, fruit and bread pudding. It was excellent. My husband had the roast beef sandwich, very nice. Ambiance is clean and contemporary. Service was excellent. Very Pleasant and helpful. I'll be back.

I loved my supper at hélicoptère so much I decided to reserve for their Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint! We were a group of 8 and we were seated at a long wooden table against all the windows ( arguably the best table in the restaurant !). We decided to go with the brunch tasting menu, which consisted of 8 dishes for $30 and included unlimited good quality filtered coffee. Everyone agreed that our favorite entrée was the chicken liver mousse served on a almond cake. I also really like the duck pâté served with toasted challah. For mains, our favourite was the brussel sprout and boudin dish but honestly all the dishes were fantastic. Dessert was a simple bread pudding, which accompanied coffee very well. I found it a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal but it is brunch and I suppose we didn't need a fancy dessert. Service was excellent, very attentive and friendly! The staff was able to explain all the dishes very clearly in English for our American visitors. Awesome brunch for a very reasonable price! Hélicoptère has an incredible thing going.

Take your taste buds on a helicopter trip! We really enjoyed our date night here. Flavors are unique and interesting. It was super cold and windy December but it was worth the bit of effort walking against the wind to get here! Cosy restaurant and love the little touch of whimsy--they had animal figurines sitting on the top of a couple of light shades. We weren't very hungry so we skipped the tasting menu and crafted our own experience with some suggestions from our server. Bone marrow toast was rich, golden tasting. Challah bread was so yum and they gave so much fresh cheese dip that I had the leftovers boxed up to go. We really liked the calamari dish, it's a small plate though. Although I appreciated the truffle linguini, a part of me feels that the server just recommended the most expensive thing on the menu cause we asked him what was good. Otherwise, everything else recommended was on point.

Got to try some delicious food during my short weekend trip to Montreal Quebec…read more A friend organized a lunch for everyone before we all headed to the airport and funny enough this restaurant was in the hotel my friend and i stayed at. The restaurant was super quiet when we went as it was a Monday afternoon when most people were probably at work. The interior was quite elegant very clean and royalty looking. The service was 10/10. Waiter was very attentive and we could tell he paid attention to detail. He gave great food recommendations and definitely had knowledge of what's on the menu. Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. If i'm ever in town again and in the area i'd want to try their happy hour or chacuterie spread!

(Hotel restaurants, can be good/bad) We were definitely not dressed up which I was worried about but it wasn't an issue, we started with beef carpaccio and charcuterie, the pate was absolutely amazing as were all the cured meats. The beef carpaccio, was for me a little bland, I would have hit it with a touch of salt, but once you got a piece th at had balsamic drizzle it really opened it up and changed my mind. (I wish there was a little more of the balsamic. My husband had the Cornish hen, and I had the filet mignon, both were absolutely amazing, I even stole a little of his Bleu cheese for my steak. Steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing. Our server was on point, his name was Pedro, I had asked him to send out a dessert privately and it was our 1 year anniversary, even though we were not dressed for the occasion as we were both exhausted from travel, We will probably be in for lunch tomorrow!

While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn't quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it's possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher's cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.

Even during peak summer season the restaurant was crowded and even had a line starting to form at peak lunch hour. There are not very many large tables so don't expect a large group to be sitting together. The menu is pretty straightforward with the typical miso, tonkotsu, and shoyu broths. But they even have a tomato broth with Hokato scallops for those more adventurous. We ordered the Tonkotsu Black $19 & the Tonkotsu+ $19. Is it pricey for Ramen? Yes. But was it worth it? Yes. The Tonkotsu Black had a rich broth with prominent garlic oil. The Tonkotsu+ was really the show stopper. With 3 different styles of meat: Smoked pork pastrami, meatballs & chashu. The truffle oil was fragrant and earthy. But the biggest surprise was shiitake mushrooms. They were marinated/seasoned to perfection, with a hint of sweetness. I would've been happy with just a giant bowl of shiitake mushrooms, and truffle oil. The broth was much lighter and delicate than the Tonkotsu Black, yet strong on the truffle. If you're not really a fan of truffle, do not get this. We were tempted to go back again, but we opted to try other restaurants around the downtown area. 10/10 Would go back again! His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation.
