    We had a delicious meal here on our first night in Montreal! This is a very cute and modern bistro but with a cozy feel. Our server was great as well, very attentive and made good suggestions. This restaurant served French/Canadian food and it was the perfect place for an introduction to the local cuisine. My dad and I shared the local cheese and meat charcuterie board, the French onion soup, and the poutine, which were all delicious. The real star however was the maple pudding with vanilla ice cream. This dessert was insanely delicious and my dad and I talked about it for days afterward. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for slightly upscale Canadian cuisine.

    We had dinner here our last night in Montreal and it was an excellent end to our visit. We started with some cocktails and the salmon tartare. I had Le Saint Vallier which was sweeter than what I usually order but excellent and also beautiful.The salmon was delicious and a nice shareable starter. For my entree I had the Coquille Saint Laurent which was delicious. The scallops, shrimp and clams were all cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The potatoes were creamy and perfect and the presentation of the dish was beautiful. For dessert, I had the maple pudding which was similar to a really good sticky toffee pudding; it was delicious. Service was excellent and the courses were served at a leisurely pace giving time to relax and enjoy each course. The dining room is nicely decorated and feels classy but casual. Definitely make a reservation as the dining room is fairly small and it was full on a weeknight.

    Close to old Montreal with the same street repairs and the lack of parking, we decided anyway to go to Vallier. My first visit actualy. The decor is warm and the atmosphere was great when we entred but it got very loud when it got full and when the DJ, yes a DJ in the restaurant started to crank the music up. We sat at the bar. always nice to sit where you can see the action and interact with the bartender who also serves you food. Since there is a full bar with a knologable bartender i decided to order a classic Old Fashion. Served in a nice glass of the same name, it was prepared the perfect way. We shared a plate of charcuterie and cheese with a glass of wine. I ordered a burger and it was delicious with coated fries. The key lime pie was delicious. My friend ordered a duck confit salad and was please with it.

    My colleagues and I were on a food crawl and stopped in here for some food and drinks. We shared the poutine with shredded duck. This was delicious but really did not need the duck. The fries were crisp even under all that gravy. Melted cheese curds, yummy gravy. Delicious. Nice wine options. Friendly staff.

    It's bee season, suggest a net around the outside seating. Could not completely enjoy the charcuteries because the bees were enjoying it. Menu selection very minimal. We decided to just have wine and the board. Our waiter was amazing: Enzo.

    Walked in looking for a place for brunch/lunch. Thank god we did cause we loved it! Server was attentive, knowledgeable and nice. Definitely recommend the espresso martini. It's legit espresso and made well. We ordered, the oysters, charcuterie board, salmon tartare, beef tartare, and onion soup. Everything was great and we weren't disappointed!

    I love a bistro so I was happy to be invited to lunch here. Menu is not huge but has all the options you might expect. I had heard their tartares were their specialty so I chose the salmon. It was very good, I loved the dill in there, and accompanied by a beautiful salad, toasts, and French fries that were as good as they look in the photos. Appreciated that the bartender came to our table to ask if we enjoyed our drinks. Which we did!

    Admittedly our second choice, Vallier ended up being a solid option for a spontaneous dinner for 10 people. They were quickly able to accommodate us around 19:30 on a Sunday night. The menu was short, but there was something for everyone. The winners at the table were the salmon and burger, though the fries were a bit soggy. A small bite of the poutine was also tasty but a little soggier than I expected. The gnocchi was ok, a bit more dense than I usually like it. The haloumi was good, but that vegetables that came with it were not cooked enough. Very nice wait staff!

    Loved this place!!! Such great interior, excellent service and amazing food. The poutine was delicious. The bun the burger comes on is soooo good and the fries are perfect. The calamari was ok, so definitely recommend the poutine over that as an appetizer.

    I just returned from a visit to Montreal and after visiting several establishments this place was one of the highlights. We came in mid day and it was pretty quiet, we sat at the bar had several different delicious and boozy drinks, we also had some fantastic duck poutine and salmon croquettes. The service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The next time I find myself in Montreal I will be sure to return. I am a constant user of yelp and I loved this place so much this is my first review.

Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. Our server was on point, his name was Pedro, I had asked him to send out a dessert privately and it was our 1 year anniversary, even though we were not dressed for the occasion as we were both exhausted from travel, We will probably be in for lunch tomorrow!

But they even have a tomato broth with Hokato scallops for those more adventurous. We ordered the Tonkotsu Black $19 & the Tonkotsu+ $19. Is it pricey for Ramen? Yes. But was it worth it? Yes. The Tonkotsu Black had a rich broth with prominent garlic oil. The Tonkotsu+ was really the show stopper. With 3 different styles of meat: Smoked pork pastrami, meatballs & chashu. The truffle oil was fragrant and earthy. But the biggest surprise was shiitake mushrooms. They were marinated/seasoned to perfection, with a hint of sweetness. I would've been happy with just a giant bowl of shiitake mushrooms, and truffle oil. The broth was much lighter and delicate than the Tonkotsu Black, yet strong on the truffle. If you're not really a fan of truffle, do not get this. We were tempted to go back again, but we opted to try other restaurants around the downtown area. 10/10 Would go back again! His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George.
