i am truly so so so SO disappointed in this place! i freaking love the RASA in navy yard and i was waiting for this place to open with baited breath. i finally went last night, and while its physically beautiful and has plenty of out door seating, thats where the good stuff ends--- i got shrimp that was literally soft and crumbly-- are you thinking "oh gross!", yea, so was i. Like i ate two and just had to throw it out (and ofcourse this was a To Go order, so by the time i got home i was too far to do anything about the bad quality. But shrimp that is too soft? like i mean not even rubbery or a little soft, like pure freaking mush... ahhhh, does that mean it was out there all day getting soft and gross? or was it just cooked too long? i dont know which is worse. and in navy yard their shrimp so perfect and firm and tasty. Disappointed is an understatement. But b/c i was so excited for this Rasa and b/c i really love their navy yard location, i also got the beef. Ummmm literally inedibly spicy-- and i am south asian! you know when something is so spicy you cant even taste it b/c all you can focus on is the heat? yea, it was that kind of spicy. Anyway, total bummer, i love the original location and had really looked forward to this one opening, but the quality is just not there. read more

We ordered a take out from Uber eats. The chicken tikka bowls were amazing!! Huge portions good for 1.5- 2 servings, green chutney was top notch and chicken tikka itself was very soft! Also the food was ready for pick up soon. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quick bite, it's chipotle style (like the burrito bowls) but all the more flavorful and yumm!! read more

Honestly, I was hesitant to come here because I don't have a strong palate for Indian food. However, I was absolutely blown away by how good it was. It was super easy to make a custom bowl and the ingredients were so damn fresh. On top of that, the staff is incredibly warm. Rasa will certainly become a staple for me in DC. RASA is new to the neighborhood and I am so happy it is here! I've been looking forward to this Indian takeout place since that huge pink door was built. I first visited last night and everyone working there was so kind and helpful to explain flavors. I built my own bowl with the chicken tikka and loved the charred eggplant. I'm a big fan of the garlic naan and I ordered the spiked coconut which came in an actual coconut and was delicious. I keep looking at the menu and can't wait to try more! read more

Rasa is ridiculously enticing. Eating these delicious bowls is like a fast and causal jaunt to India (passport not required). The Masala Chai Cookies are a must even if you're not into sweets. I grabbed the Tikka Chance on Me bowl and the Peppercorn Saison, ate in their spacious outdoor seating, and simply took it all in. Such a quick and repeatable experience. I had the opportunity to have lunch at this recently opened restaurant last week. The food was amazing. I had the "Goa Your Own Way," and I don't think I could ever order anything else - it was that good. The spice on the beef was addictive and so tender. The green beans really made the dish. My husband had the Open Sesame lamb kebabs - Also incredible. The blends of spices and chutneys on both dishes were just perfect. We topped it off the the very unusual and exotic tasting Tamarind Margarita. I haven't had anything like this anywhere else. Beautiful location, too - We will definitely be returning! read more

Rasa means "to taste", which us what I struggled to do a little on my two visits to Rasa. The overall issue is the blandness of the food, which was pretty disappointing. I love the little space that the restaurant has, especially the outdoor section, but the food does not pack the flavor I was expecting. The first time I went, my friend and I split some snacks - the mini samosas and chutney and chips. The samosas had a fairly unfavorable crust to filling ratio and a very bland flavor while the chutney and chips were decent (my friend found them too spicy - I'd describe them as very peppery but not bad). In fairness, she also ordered a juice and was very pleased with that. I decided to give Rasa another shot by getting one of their bowls and ended up with the Eat Your Veggies. As vibrant as the bowl looks, the mashed spinach is the most flavorful thing to find here. I appreciate the effort to make a veggie bowl without anchoring too much on a starchy base (maybe I should have tried the aloo bowl though?), but the flavors were lacking. I also ordered the garlic naan, which was pretty passable. The best part was the masala chai cookie, which also could have been a bit more bold with its chai flavors but still was the part of the meal that most expressed a flavor profile. Still, it's hard to complain about the model of the fast-food casual Chipotle-style Indian restaurant (though fans of Choolaah would be disappointed) and I do suspect I'll find myself back here at some point trying to find the way "to taste." read more

I did take out from here last night! I made my own bowl which was delicious. The tomato garlic sauce and fire sauce were awesome. My only feedback would be that they should update their website with more descriptions during COVID. For example, I'm allergic to quinoa, but could not find a description of what was in the super greens anywhere. If they want more new customers who are likely ordering takeout or delivery it would be awesome to understand what's in the sides (like there were charred onions and peppers in mine and I have no idea which side they came from). I might be hesitant to order again unless I could go in person to see and ask questions. Overall though no complaints about the food itself, everything tastes great. read more

The chicken tikka, spinach and pickled veggie combo is my favorite, but I'd seriously recommend doubling up on the naan because it's just that good. Everything tasted pretty good except for the chicken. It tasted stale and there wasn't enough of the tikka sauce to cover it. Also, the naan is not naan at all, just pita bread which was incredible disappointing since naan is my favorite. read more

Love Love Rasa at 5th and K Street NW. The atmosphere is so very nice, very clean, the food is great and the customer service is excellent. I visit Rasa often and every time I come here, I am always greeted with a smile by the staff and even the manager, Glenda. She is very courteous, patient and a very hard worker who makes it her business to keep her customers satisfied. Usually, you don't find managers who are willing to do everything their employees do, but she does and I appreciate that so much. Keep up the good work everyone!! RASA is what the world needs right now. It's everything good about CAVA but better quality and Indian-fusion flair. The food is delectable, healthy (if you want them to be) bowls of super greens/super grains plus protein, toppings, and the most amazing Indian sauces. You can mix and match forever or follow the chef's recipes. And the chef-created recipes are explosions of flavor in your mouth. Pair food with sides of sweet or savory yogurt, and house-made not-too-sweet margaritas with limes cooked in tandoori ovens. Finish your meal with house-made chocolate chip cookies crumbled over chai vegan oat milk soft-serve. It's a little bit of what makes Rasika great except at a Chipotle/CAVA price point and fast. It's very foodie but still casual - something not manyplaces have been able to pull off IMHO. RASA is perfect for COVID-takeout or hanging out when we return to that world (and enough outdoor seating to bridge the gap). The bowl portions are generous and usually feed me for 1.5-2 meals. The atmosphere is colorful, fun, breezy, and zen-relaxing all at once. Kudos to the chef/owners for creating a concept that seemingly has it all (including good vegetarian options). Glad there is a location in center-city/Mt. Vernon Triangle near Cap One Arena and the Conv.Ctr. It will take more than one visit to get a full run of the flavor explosions but totally worth trying it a few times to see what you love most at RASA! read more
