mango green tea, caramelized boba milk tea
    Louise V.

i visited during a weekday an hour before closing, and it wasn't busy at all! service was super friendly and quick too. i ordered a mango green tea with boba and it was the perfect amount of sweetness, and it was so refreshing during a heat wave! although the shop was on the smaller side, there was plenty of seating inside and outside. it was a great place to walk around too!! awesome business to support!

Very small but welcoming -- very wholesome team and good vibes. Staff members were very kind and friendly! Very clean! Didn't try the food but tried the Iced Ice Cream Milk Tea; very refreshing and delicious! Portion is huge; large size. Lots of different options available from milk teas to fruit teas, I would definitely recommend and would try something new next time!

It's been years since I've been to this RareTea, located in DoCo, but was in the area and stopped by late on a weekend night. It's not a big space. There's a handful of places to sit (three tables and some counter seating). Service was excellent, both helpful and friendly. I'll note the Rose Matcha didn't have much of a rose taste. However, the matcha drinks tastes of good quality and not at all chalky.

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Golden 1 Center. I was hooked by all the appealing pictures of their drinks on the walls, so I decided to order their Mango Coconut + noodle. There was no wait, and I got my drink in no time. From the very first sip, I was sold! And when they say this drink is part of their coconut series, you better believe there's coconut in it! Can't wait to try other drinks on their menu next time.

I have not been to RareTea in a while, and it was my first time at the DOCO location. The location is great, as it's right near the arena with plenty of other food, drink, and shopping options as well. I will say however I was a bit disappointed in my drink. I ordered the Kiwi Fruit Tea w/ Aiyu jelly and felt that it was too tea-forward for my liking even when I mixed it. The sips with the kiwi and jelly together made it better, however, it was difficult to get everything together, so I got the bitter tea taste many sips.

This has become my new favorite spot to get a cold tea drink. I work across the street and my coworkers and I come here at least once a week. We love the flavors they have, and the prices are reasonable. Great service . I've ordered online and at the spot. I've tried a few different teas, matcha, taro, and there's plenty more I want to try! Nice chill ambiance. I definitely recommend stopping in if you're ever in DOCO.

Pretty good tea overall, good classic boba and fantastic strawberry crema tea (that's prob my fav here). 4/5 above average but there's a lot of competition for great boba in Sac these days.

Good Okinawa milk tea. The place was nice and cold that helped with the outside temps being 100.

Rare tea appeared right when I was craving bubble tea in a fierce way. They're located in DOCO on the upper level near Macy's. There was no wait when I walked in and placed an order for a 'mango milk tea with boba'. Staff were very friendly and prices are fair. Seating is limited but if you can snag a table I recommend enjoying your tea and egg waffle in the restaurant. Overall the tea was pretty great and I had no complaints.

Order: Handmade Taro milk tea with reg boba. $7 They also had honey boba, but that would be extra $1. Rare Tea shares the same space as Satori Sushi. Two yummy goodies in one place. The person at the register gave me a heads about my order that there was no sugar and described the drink to have chunks of Taro. I appreciate the details. They asked if I wanted to sweeten the drink. Since the boba was slightly sweet, I turned down the option. Initially, I thought the drink was tasty, but as I kept drinking it, I realized how bland it was.   They did offer again to sweeten it after my first sip, but I still said no. I don't regret it. Now I know. I would go back again. 5 stars for excellent customer service.

At age 10, my son is at a stage where he is trying to figure out his desired style (appearance), hobbies, and foods. A few months ago, he and I were at an event where they were distributing free samples of bubble tea. Although I found it to be overbearingly sweet, he absolutely loved it (no surprise)! Therefore, after returning an item to the nearby Macy's, I figured that I would treat him to some bubble at RareTea. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by all three employees working behind the counter. Since this was my son's first time ordering bubble and there was a plethora of options on the menu, my son asked one of the employees for a recommendation. The employee pleasantly suggested the Okinawa Milk Tea, which was one of the employee's personal favorites and an overall popular drink choice. After placing the order, the employee immediately began making the drink and my son had his order in hand less than a minute later. My son found the drink + boba balls to be delicious; so delicious that he consumed it over a two day span to ensure that he had it to look forward to the next day. It's funny how a simple item like bubble, brought so much joy to my son (much cheaper than the newest video game or shoes). Although I try to regulate how much sugar our household consumes, a little bubble every now and then won't hurt. Thank you RareTea!

It was a hot day. And first tea house I see was rare tea located in downtown Sac. The taste was ok, nothing original, the price is almost the same as other places. And it was in a great location right next to Sac king stadium. Go give it a try next time you are there

Do they have a bathroom that customers can use?

Yea, DOCO have a restroom right across from the shop

So do they have non caffeinated tea?

I heard if you buy the plastic bottle, when you bring it back and use it you'll get a discount, is that true?

    Yes. It's about 10 cents.

Is there a snack menu or is it a drinks-only place?

I have not seen any snacks. I've been in twice for drinks.

Whats the difference between the Strawberry Berry and the 2.0?

Hi, The regular one is more like a smoothie and the 2.0 is like a drink.…

Are there dairy free/caffeine free options?

To clarify, they have almond milk and soy milk, they DO NOT have caffeine free options. Which was very sad for me because I can't drink caffeine, and I was so excited for a boba place with a caffeine free option for once. I went in and asked, and…

Is the bottle made out of plastic or glass? Is it reusable for next visit?

Hi, It is made of recyclable plastic and you may bring it back to reuse.…

It's a very small spot with a self-ordering kiosk and a couple of small tables inside. Their menu has a great variety of drinks, from matcha and smoothies to coffee and tea. I ordered the Mango Matcha Latte at 50% sweetness, and it was excellent. They use real mango, the matcha wasn't overly bitter, and the flavors were smooth, well-balanced, and refreshing. It was a really good drink, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu.

Inside was a little small, but again that's just downtown for you. If you think you're gonna be able to sit and study here that's not likely. If there are 3 people sitting inside you'll likely have to stand awkwardly around till your drinks come out. While the staff was really kind, I felt really bad cause there was only one person. All orders, all questions, all DoorDash orders.. only one. My friend and I ordered only two drinks but it took over 30 mins to get them. Overall the drinks were good but nothing I'd go out of my way for. I'd definitely give it another chance, maybe i came on an off day. But truthfully I felt it was overhyped.

Both drinks were incredibly well balanced and so refreshing on a hot day. The Tropical Trek was definitely my favorite and something I'd come back for. It was perfectly creamy, smooth, tart, and matcha-forward all in one cup. The Camp Oasis made a great second drink alongside it. Its tonic base gave it a bright, tart, earthy profile that complemented the richness of the Tropical Trek really well. The interior was clean and inviting, the AC was much appreciated, and the overall ambiance was relaxing. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Oasis sounded good but it was revolting; one sip and no more, straight to the trash. The Campfire was better but meh. I wish there were an option to take back charges and tips. If businesses can do it, why can't we, it should be a two way street. I judge a coffee shop by their cappuccinos. If a basic can be crafted well, then that's a good foundation of espresso for other beverages. Some are too bitter, some are too bland and some are just right. Temple's espresso, at all of their shops, is too bitter. It's a bad foundation for everything else and it shows. And why I don't visit more often. Oh, and one more thing, their staff. If you don't look like them, you know the type, then they aren't friendly to you. I watched and then experienced this disparity in the interactions with "like" people in front of me and then myself.

I Go Nutty For Brazilian Coffee!…read more SITREP On my walks home down K Street from the Central MIdtown Sacramento District, I often pass by World Travelers but had never gone it. Today that changed! THE SETUP Living in Midtown Sacramento, I (try) to pride myself in discovering every nook & cranny of caffeine goodness that lurks in my neighborhood (at least within a 6-7 block radius). Well well well, it was high time for me to discover World Traveler Coffee! ARI AND HER BRAZILIAN No no, not THAT kind of Brazilian, but the varietal of coffee that is Brazilian! Ari got me turned on (no no, not THAT way) to her delicious brew of Brazilian. I usually go for the fruity (and, yes, I am THAT kind of quirky fruity), but in this case Ari convinced me to NUTTY (and isn't funny how coffee notes of "Fruity" and "Nutty" can ALSO refer to my state of mind? :D So rich, so earthy, so sublime. It was revelatory choice for me and I thank Ari for it. I MIGHT have actually caught a glimpse of the owner too, who laughed when I showed Ari her picture of herself I posted on Yelp to "Make her famous." The owner said, "It's about time!" I laughed. The strawberry matcha latte looked pretty, but the flavor was just okay. The strawberry was pretty mild and got a bit lost behind the matcha, and with soy milk it tasted more earthy than creamy. Not bad, but not something I'd go out of my way to order again. The Calabrian chicken sandwich was decent but didn't live up to the name. The chicken was cooked well, but I was expecting more heat and bold Calabrian flavor. It also felt a little dry and could've used more sauce to bring everything together. The cafe itself has a nice, relaxed vibe and is a good spot to sit and chill or get some work done. Service was fine, nothing memorable, but no complaints either. Everything was okay, just not standout. I might come back to try other drinks or food, but this visit didn't fully impress.
