If It's Time For The Farmers Market, That Means Coffee!! SITREP I've been better about getting out of my comfort zone - ie. grocery stores - and proactively checking the local farmers markets on various different days to *refresh* my refrigerator-crisper drawers with fresh product. So, getting me outta the house means finding new habits! THE SETUP So, of course, the FIRST habit, as mentioned, is getting fresh produce on a more regular basis at the Midtown Saturday Farmers Market! But there was now a SECOND, at first unanticipated habit that revealed itself: getting to stop by one of my most favorite coffee spots on a more regular weekly basis: Temple Coffee @ 22nd & K Streets! (Harps Play! Angels Sing! Coffee Pours!) CLOSE-PROXIMITY! One of the advantages of being a business close by the six (6)-block-long Midtown Saturday Farmers Market (mostly North-South along 20th St. between I & L Streets, but also spilling out a block on either). That means Temple is literally only a block down on an East-axis from the Market along K St. - my chosen walk home! CRUISING THROUGH (THE STRAITS OF) GIBRALTAR! So now I get to enjoy Temple's Gibraltar as I sit for a spell, catching my breath, gazing upon my take of fresh veggies and catch conversations with people I just met or cross paths with an old friend. THE LOWDOWN Does this mean I'm getting more religious?!? Because I seem to be stopping by the "TEMPLE" on a more regular basis! :D read more

what a fun little coffee shop to do work. Lots of vibes. Had a different aesthetic than your typical coffee shop. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by my drink. I got an iced vanilla latte, but was trying to be healthy so I got nonfat milk. I think I should've just stuck with the full fat milk. So I guess that's not totally on them. My food choices, however, were amazing and they are the main reason for this high of a rating. They had so many food options. I couldn't make a decision, so I got a sweet and savory option. For my sweet option, I went with the raspberry cream cheese danish. I love a danish. My mom used to make them when I was younger, so I think they're also nostalgic for me. This one was excellent. There was some sugar that had caramelized on the top that was scrumptious. For my savory option, I went with the seasonal veggie scone that had mushrooms, bell peppers, zucchini, and IDK what else? This was so moist and flavorful. I think if you can do a good scone, then generally the rest of your baked goods on fire as well. Overall, I'd like to go back here and try a different drink. I've been here many times and realize I never left a review. This Temple Coffee location is beautiful and so iconic. The floors are covered in pennies and the tall ceiling is so open and nice. The line might be long be it does move rather fast. While waiting I sampled their new drip coffee it was tasty. For my drink I got a cappuccino. While waiting for our table at Morning Fork, I realized that I hadn't had any coffee. We saw a couple sitting at one of the benches outside and they had coffee. I asked if it was close by. They said, "around the corner" - the best three minute walk result I've made in a while. It reminds me of if the Apple Store and Pete's Coffee merged- they would create Temple Coffee Roasters. Service was impressive. They offer a lot of different coffee options as well as espresso drinks made with tonic. I will have to try that next time. I opted for their drip coffee. The blend was very well flavored, didn't require much cream or sugar, and it definitely hit the spot. The Kid ordered the Mexican hot chocolate with whipped cream. She said it was very good as well. This place is definitely a popular destination as there was a line out the door, considering how many people were in the establishment I felt the line actually moved fairly quickly. walking you can't help but notice the floor and all the counters are made with wall to wall laminated real pennies! So cool. They sell their own specialty roasted beans " I bought a bag of decaf" my son-in-law got his favorite cold brew with cherry soda. " he let me try some, I must say it was quite good" they also sell doughnuts, cakes etc. they do have tables to sit at but as crowded as they were seating is a premium. I was in town for a brief time (attended a graduation) and I think I went to this place 2 or 3 times. I just realized I wrote my original review for the wrong location. I meant to put the review here. This is such a cute coffee shop and it's nice that it's open late. We wanted to go to a bar for a drink, but the vibes were all off. We stumbled upon Temple by accident. We decided to go inside because it seemed lively and clean. The barista on Thursday night around 9pm was so sweet. I wish I got her name. We ordered a Mexican hot chocolate, single espresso shot, and a cappuccino for drinks. She greeted us kindly and asked for our orders, so she can start them quickly. The other worker on the register was also very kind and welcoming. She asked us if we wanted any pastries to enjoy. We ended up getting the tiramisu. It was amazing. My husband loved his Mexican hot chocolate. We would definitely come back if we are in the area! We did come back Friday night around 8pm, the staff was also very welcoming and had great vibes. I tried the ginger snap latte, it was a nice balance of sweetness. And we got a creme brûlée and one more tiramisu to share! All very great read more

so this isn't my first temple visit, but it's probably my first temple review for Midtown very consistent. There's always a good flow of people coming in here. I don't get here often cause I live in Rancho Ambience is always amazing for being the area that it's in I will say this I don't see a lot of unhemmed people or street people inside of their facility which makes it feel a lot safer, especially since I bring children here. Staff is great as of right now I'm hooked on the orange spiced mocha. Definitely could tell the difference in how the store is a batch their stuff from the other temples if I can drive this far, I'll be back. read more

In my quest to find the best work spot in Sac, I stopped by Temple with a friend. It was super packed on a weekday afternoon and we couldn't find seats inside, so we sat on the patio. I wish there was a little shade outside but the vibe is good and the iced matcha was good quality and delicious! The baristas are friendly as well. All the staff was very rude and basically told me "you can just email management" Well, I attempted to go in again today. And they told me that i'm banned from coming in now. No explanation, no apology for being treated poorly. Cold brew is pretty mid compared to what I've had here in Sac so far, and my cupcake left a lot to be desired. The cold brew tasted watered down and the cupcake was just not good. Flavor was alright. But the cupcake was ice cold, and the "frosting" crumbled instantly into small chunks. I love yuzu so I was excited to try this, but after a bite or two I realized this was truly not good (and not worth the price I paid for a cupcake and coffee). The folks working here are nice, but I would not recommend this spot unfortunately. But they get a star for offering to refund my cupcake when I went to return my plate and realized I didn't eat it. read more

Came here for the first time around 9am on a Saturday morning and definitely will be back. Sometimes cafes feel stuffy or pretentious to me, but right away when we walked in, it felt calm and welcoming. One barista warmly said good morning to us pretty immediately and encouraged us to take our time deciding on what we wanted and even offered us a sample that they had ready. I ordered their Strawberry and Bergamot Milk Tea that was on their seasonal menu taped on the door and advertised on the counter as well and my husband ordered their Mexican Mocha which is on their regular menu. We were asked about our preferences for the milk in our drinks and the whipped cream on the mocha. The milk tea has with oat milk and the mocha has whole milk, but you can choose substitutes if you'd like. Oat milk for me and 2% for my husband. Then, we walked down to the register area and browsed all the pastries in their display case - they all looked delicious! There were many options including butter croissants, cream cheese danishes, a variety of muffins, a couple cookie options, and three donut options. I asked for a recommendation between their coffee cake donut and their peanut butter and jelly donut and was immediately recommended their coffee cake donut between the two. While we waited for our drinks, we browsed their merchandise sitting on shelves next to the napkin/trash/self-serve station. They sell hats, t-shirts, mugs, coffee filters, glasses/cups, and even a beautiful tea pot and fancy coffee maker. The environment of the cafe is natural and industrial with long live edge wooden communal tables and concrete floors. Our drinks were ready one after another and we were off. Everyone who we interacted with were super warm and friendly and our drinks were delicious! Best tasting milk tea I've ever had! It was really smooth, fresh, and flavorful - no artificial flavor and not overly sweet at all. At home I ate the coffee cake donut and it was great! Moist, fluffy, and the right amount of sweetness. I ordered a iced matcha. I'm a huge matcha nerd so my matcha expectations are very high. If I needed a quick fix, I'd trust Temple. However, my only complaint about the matcha is that I don't taste the earthy, umami undertones to the drink. It was a bit too milky and thin for my taste. I prefer a rich, creamy matcha instead. I went here on a Saturday morning to meet with a friend. It was busy and there was a line out the door. Parking can be hard since it's midtown and you can park on the street. I've only been to one other Temple location on Fair Oaks Boulevard and that one is way smaller compared to this one. I haven't had much luck finding a seat at that one when I've gone. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating and plenty of seats. It was not completely full despite being busy. They also have two bathrooms. I am not a coffee drinker but it seemed like they had a variety of non coffee drinks such as sparkling water matcha which sounded interesting and is seasonal. They have chai, matcha, and various teas for the non coffee drinkers. My friend and I both got the Thai iced tea which I haven't seen before on their menu! It wasn't the normal orange color I expect out of Thai iced tea at Thai restaurants but it had the same type of flavor I'm used to. It was very refreshing! The prices for a drink are around $7 or more which is on the more expensive side. Overall, I would return to check out their non coffee drinks/seasonal menus despite them being known for their coffee their Thai iced tea was delicious! I'm glad they offer other caffeinated alternatives. read more
