I was determined to watch them carefully and make sure that they were not going to damage anything, like my floors, my patio, my skylights, etc. In a very short time I could tell that they were absolutely meticulous, not dropping the bricks but carrying them from the roof to the bin. Inside the house, they were just as careful, protecting the floors, etc. When they were done, they carefully cleaned everything. Then I decided they were the ones I wanted to rip out all the old cupboards and shelves from the garage. They fitted that small job in immediately and did just as good of a job. Then I learned that they do small construction jobs and I hired them to install a vinyl pre-fab garden shed. They showed up with all the materials and put down sand, gravel and a paver pad, leveled it, and put up the shed in a day. This was my first time doing a project of this size for myself. I wanted a 30'x50' metal RV garage built on a concrete slab with an 80' asphalt driveway on my 5 acre property. I contracted for surveying, engineering, geotechnical support, and worked with the county for all permitting. After selecting my metal building contractor, I called Leo's company for an estimate after seeing the many positive reviews he had on Google and Yelp. In the excavating, concrete, and asphalt areas, I had a difficult time finding single contractors that did all three areas. Besides Leo's estimate, I was able to obtain one other. Other contractors would say they worked in all three areas but upon visiting my site, they would say they just did one area but had contacts that could provide estimates in the other areas. Leo's site visit and subsequent interactions put me completely at ease. He had done his homework, deep diving the plans I had sent him. His estimate was in the ballpark of the other and he provided pictures of his other jobs that proved that he had more than enough expertise to complete my project. Over the course of my project, I came to rely upon Leo to help me overcome obstacle after obstacle due to my inexperience working across the trades and with the county. In one example, we had a conference call to talk to the engineer to determine how best to build up the ground to make it level for the slab with a mostly level driveway that would drain properly, and T'd from the original driveway. In another example, I did not find the building permit on the county's electronic system until after the concrete slab had been poured. The first geotechnical report had made "suggestions" that the county made "mandatory" in the building permit, one of which was having a geotechnical expert write an assessment after the forms were constructed and before concrete was poured. I was able to have the geotechnical engineer visit the site and inspect after the fact. Leo made himself available to answer questions and he had pictures of the rebar and forms. A positive report was developed that satisfied the county. Leo told me that he likes jobs that are my size and up to 12 homes at a time so he can be responsive to his commitments. For me, he was on site when he said he would be. The size of his crew was always right for the job at hand and no one was ever not fully engaged. After much debate, I needed to have the foundation that had been poured removed and fill in the hole. I was really struggling to find anyone to even bid the project, let alone take the job. Rob, the owner, showed up, bid the job to my new GC, was forthcoming about when he could start and what the costs would be. He was no nonsense, good for his word. Showed up with his crew and equipment the day he said he was going to, and every day till the job was done. He came across many issues with what the previous contractor had done, but he also came to me with solutions and the means to fix them. You have to love a guy who brings you answers to the problems you didn't even know you had! It was one of those, "this couldn't have gone any smoother" transactions. His crew was very careful with their equipment and made sure not to damage any of the surrounding areas, i.e. sidewalks, trees, fences, the neighbors cars. I'm pretty sure that man could tie a shoelace with that excavator thing he was using. Rob did everything he said he was going to do and even more. He went above and beyond. It's very rare, and hard to find honorable, no nonsense guys like that these days. This is an amazing team. A well run business, and just an all around great company to work with. I couldn't be happier. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the "after" photos show where Rob actually had some rich soil brought in and planted grass seed in it for me!!
