I've tried a good portion of the menu at this point and enjoy the Sesame Chicken, Palata with Chicken, and Mango Shrimp. My partner is obsessed with the Burmese Chow Mein and Black Pepper Chicken. This time, I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp, which was pretty basic but expectedly tasty and filling. Service was quick and friendly! We ordered - Tea Leaf Salad- the perfect ratio of fermented tea leaves and ingrediants. - Samosas- light, crispy, and so flavorful - Nan Gyi Thoke- the noodles were perfectly cooked, not mushy, and the curry was creamy and delightful. - Basil Lemongrass Chicken- fresh basil, and lemongrass really made this dish a popular topic. - Pumpkin Veggie- Nice ratio of pumpkin and other veggies, very hearty. - Kebat Lamb- savory, packed full of rich spices, the onions add so much texture and flavor as well. - Jasmine Rice Plus plenty of yummy tropical cocktails for the adults. They set up a little table for the cake, and some graduation items that we brought. They really went out of their way to make our celebration comfortable. Everything was in generous portions, fresh and expertly prepared. My guests raved about the food and service. Some of my guests had never tried Burmese food before and now in their meal rotation. We didn't realize that we had stretched into their rest period between lunch and dinner because they were so gracious about not rushing us. I visited on a Friday night with my older parents. We were seated after just a few minutes, and the hostess was very courteous with updates. The coconut chicken soup was amazing, very creamy! Rainbow chicken was also very savory. I'd highly recommend the House Special Noodle. Noodles seemed to melt in your mouth, for lack of a better phrase. Just delicious. The staff and even the customers really went above and beyond in terms of courtesy and politeness, too. My mom had recently had a major surgery that required her to use a walker. Everyone was very helpful and kind.

Check your bill carefully before adding a tip…read more We were a party of three having a regular lunch, and gratuity was automatically added to our bill. No one mentioned it to us. I have absolutely no issue with tipping. What I have an issue with is quietly adding gratuity to a three-person lunch bill without clearly telling the customer. Had I not carefully reviewed the bill, it would have been very easy to add another tip on top of the gratuity already charged. What makes this even stranger is that I have dined here with my husband before and this never happened. This time, without him, gratuity was added automatically. I don't know why we were treated differently, and I won't speculate about the reason--but the inconsistency made me extremely uncomfortable. If automatic gratuity for a party of three is Mingalaba's standard policy, it should be clearly disclosed and consistently applied. If it isn't, then I think customers deserve an explanation for why it was added to our bill. Ladies, especially--check your bill before you tip.

In addition to the sweet-flavored coconut rice and earthy brown rice, the roti bread also complimented the lamb curry. The chicken and beef chili entrees were mild spicy and tangy. My Burmese Butterfly mocktail was a refreshing beverage to start the meal and the iced-milk tea later complimented my toffee cake dessert well. It has a zesty dressing. The rainbow salad is good but it's more like a cold noodle dish and less greens so depends on what you are looking for. The samusa soup is good! The coconut chicken soup and noodle dishes used to be my favorite thing on the menu. But now it's a little to heavy, creamy, and rich for me. I would recommend sharing this one because it's so tasty. I love their coconut rice great with any of their curries or to complement the protein dishes. The garlic noodles don't wow me but they're good and great to go with a meal. The sesame chicken is good and tangy but it is breaded chicken. So depends on if you are up for that. The chili lamb is super good and so is the beef curry. They have a rice dish with chicken and shrimp that is good too. If you are okay with sweet things the mango chicken is good. And then they have some spicy dishes that are good if you like the spice. They weren't served very hot, and the chicken was shredded rather than the style I expected. 3/5 - Chicken Basil Stir Fry It was saucy, but the flavors were muted and didn't stand out. Around 80% of the container was just onions, and the containers were only about 70% full. For the price, this is unacceptable. 2. Almost no chicken in the garlic noodles: The garlic noodles had literally only two tiny pieces of chicken. I cannot believe I paid almost $3 extra to substitute pork with chicken and received basically no chicken at all. 3. Unbelievably salty: Both the garlic noodles and basil chicken were so salty that they were inedible. I had to rinse them with water five times, and then re-cook them myself just to make them edible. I've never had to do this with takeout before. The food wasn't just disappointing in terms of flavor and portion size--the biggest issue is that it feels like the restaurant is being extremely stingy while still charging fairly high prices. Poor portions, excessive salt, and very little meat. Definitely not worth the price, and I would not order from here again.

I loved the crunchy textures of the tea leaf salad, and the shrimp and beef were deliciously spicy. The noodles were also great - the boiled egg was cooked perfectly. Our party of three ordered mainly apps, and only deviated off that section to try their tea leaf salad :P Fried tofu - crisp and light Coconut chicken with palatha - sweeter curry, loved the flakiness and thicc-ness of the paratha Lamb curry with palatha - hearty curry sauce Salt and pepper chicken - dino nugget-esque with a nice crunch and perfect seasoning and didn't actually need the dipping sauce it comes with.
