FINAL STRAW!! For years my husband and I have been eating at The Range, and usually have enjoyed it. We generally would come in for breakfast 2-4 times a week. And although we've had the occasional odd issue with either service and/or food prep, because we were loyal customers, we always looked beyond the issues and gave them multiple second chances. But not after today--not anymore!! Today we stopped by for breakfast around 8:15 am, and the place was pretty much empty, with the exception of the booths against the long wall, occupied by a small handful of other customers. There was one booth occupied on the left, then two empty booths, and then two more occupied booths. No other patrons were in the restaurant. So, when the hostess tried to seat us at a table far away from everyone else, I explained that, due to medical reasons, my husband could not sit on a hard backed seat, and politely asked if we could do a booth instead. To which the hostess, who by the way has been quite rude to us several times in the past, curtly replied we could not, as there was no server for those booths. When I asked who then was serving the customers on both sides of the vacant booths, she became even more argumentative and reiterated we could not sit there because, "We need to consider our servers." Your servers?! What about your customers?! Lifelong customers at that! How offensive! Needless to say, that was the final straw, and so we left. In short, we are done with eating at any Range Cafe, and this time for good! Ok, here's the problem with this place. I have been going here for years but all I ever get is Tom's Meatloaf. Now the strange part is I never get meatloaf anywhere else but for some reason I get it every time here. It's amazing. Large portions with fresh white potatoes and mushroom gravy. Went to the range cafe on the westside on Sunday 5/31/2020 and asked how long the wait is to dine in the patio area and the young man said about 10 to 15 minutes. I said that's fine then he added me to the wait list with my phone number. 20 minutes later a couple is added to the wait list. 35 minutes go by and I'm still waiting. I then notice the couple that arrived 20 minutes after I did got called and was seated before me. At this point I'm furious and instead of making a huge scene, I entered my vehicle and left. 10 minutes later I receive a call from them saying my table was ready. I told the female that I left because she seated a couple that arrived 20 minutes after I did first and that was not right, she replied by saying ok. Smh I'm happy that we are able to eat in a patio but this experience is unacceptable! read more

This is a place! To....bring friends, family, to enjoy some good grub, fare, goodies if you like chili's, sandwiches, tacos, burritos and an assortment of different deputes to tempt the pallet!!! We tried this place at the recommendation of colleagues who insisted it was excellent. We thought we'd try some dishes that you can't really mess up. The wife tried chicken nachos, my daughter had the green chile Mac and cheese and I had the tacos. Can't really mess those up, can you? It wasn't so much that they were messed up. It's just that nothing had any flavor or pizazz. The chicken in the nachos tasted like boiled chicken .... and that was it. The Mac and cheese was not even okay. Bland and flavorless is more like the apt description. Even a little salt and pepper didn't do much to jazz it up. I ate each taco thinking that maybe I was missing something. The braised beef taco tasted like a pot roast taco with a little chili pepper added. My wife said it best: sometimes some restaurants try too hard. We've yet to try the original location in Bernalillo but I don't know that we'll be rushing to eat there again anytime soon. It seriously reminded me of what someone in Tennessee or Pennsylvania might think New Mexican food is like. Such a shame because the atmosphere is fantastic. We're new to ABQ so I guess I'll follow the advice of some life long Albuquerque residents: steer clear of places that have a lot of out of state license plates. Next time we'll just go to the Frontier or Dion's for much better food. read more

Ambiance, great! Service, great! Food, good! I would definitely return to Range Cafe the next time we visit NM. I got the huevos rancheros on corn tortillas, Christmas style (if you have never been to NM, Christmas stands for red and green Chile sauce together) this hueveos was one of the better ones I have had in NM. The pancakes my kiddo got were a little hard so I wouldn't order those again. My other kiddo got a chicken Caesar salad and it was delish! I sure wish we had a Range Cafe in Washington! Their pies and cakes in the display case up front look wonderful!! I wish I was able to try but we were too filled up after our meals. I will be back though!! read more

This location is definitely the worst in town. Rude servers, SLOW service and they are always out of what we want to order. The other day they were "out" of freshly baked biscuits? Don't know how that happens We usually go to the one on Rio Grande that is always excellent. But after our past experiences we might stop going to the Range all together. read more

I want to like this location better and I need to give it another chance. The menu had several items that sounded good. I ended up getting huevo rancheros, my husband got a burrito, both of us were underwhelmed. Nothing bad, but nothing stood out. I always hear good things and I love the Bernalillo location.... hoping to update my review after a second chance. Convincing my husband to come again, it might be awhile. Best breakfast spot for sure!! Brandon gave us great service and we went needing nothing. I got The Basic and it was good. I got the pancake instead of bread. The pancakes are HUGE but delicious. The syrup was amazing as well. For my two year old I got the Four Bit Cakes with fruit and Yogurt. She ate almost all of it and some of my bacon. Needless to say my party of 6 left happy and full. We also ordered desserts to go, which we've snacked in since and is sooooo good! read more

Poor Tyler (the server) may have been overworked which may be the reason why every thing took so long. At around 210p on a monday... our drink order wasn't taken until 30 minutes of being seated, so we ordered our food right there and then. 15 minutes later, our waters and fountain soda finally arrived. Another 10 mins for my coffee. And another 25 minutes for our food. 10 more minutes for the hot sauce, which wasn't used after we've downed our food for the time constraint. 10 more minutes for the to-go box. And 2 seconds for the ticket. Food was alright. Arrived hot and fresh from a conventional oven. read more

This Range on Coors this week was not up to the standards I find at The Range in Bernalillo, where I always have a good experience. The room was crowded, busy, service was slow, and tables were not 6 feet apart - but the main problem was the green beans that came with the hot turkey plate were literally inedible. They were very fibrous and you could not swallow them, even after trying to chew them. I believe they were old, not undercooked. We told the waitress, at the end of the meal, to be sure to tell the cook. I would have expected some adjustment to the ticket, but none was forthcoming. read more

So I have been going to the Range for breakfast for years and I must comment that I have never been disappointed with my experience until today. In general the service was subpar, with slow to no service. I can overlook this sometimes but, then there was the food. From the pancakes to the biscuits everything was dry and rather tasteless. This coupled with the fact that they recently change the menu and the breakfast menu is rather uninspired and is missing some of my favorite items. I am afraid I will not be back. read more

What a fantastic breakfast on St.Patrick's day. The atmosphere over all was very clean and neat. With a combination of a shared table type (for faster seating), a nice bar and normal seated tables. The service was very quick and they made sure our glasses were never empty. We started our meal with the queso, guac , salsa and chips. The tortilla chips are very delicious, seemed to be made their, if not I gotta find out where to buy them. For brunch I order the corned beef hash and two eggs to order. This consisted of fresh made amazing corned beef (not out of a can, a real faux pau in my book) red potatoes and onions, mmmmm delicious. I also had the rye bread with raspberry preserves, a very nice finish to a savory meal. Overall not only is the location great but the food is delectable. read more

As avid Impossible Burger eaters and enjoyers we used to drive all the way to Santa Fe when that was the closest place to get them - then several places in Albuquerque and Bernalillo started serving them and we had found the Range by Cottonwood mall did them up the best! Problem is, a couple times ago went in and they were "out" - called tonight before going to check and now again they do not have any... Possibly not the restaurants fault? but going elsewhere to get the fix tonight. Also - too bad they quit serving their portabella mushroom sandwiches as they were awesome! Been passing by here for a while now and finally had a birthday breakfast here. The atmosphere here is very cool. Love the wood floors and our table was very rustic. Food was just ok. I ordered biscuits and gravy; what you get is 1 biscuit and some gravy. The biscuit was very dry I had to use a knife to cut it and still struggled. The plate didn't have much gravy either. Totally wish there was more gravy since that was very tasty. They don't have hash browns here, bummer. They have fried potatoes but they're really dry too. Excited to have a Range Cafe on the Westside. Like most restaurants in the ABQ Metro, it's a small place so I expect long lines on Weekend mornings. Food is good--exactly like the other locations. They have alcohol and a bar so you can enjoy a drink with your meal. Great handmade furniture and a few communal/large party tables. Signature cows do. It disappoint. The desserts are incredibly tempting and tasty. Service is still working out the kinks but all in all a good place to grab a meal! read more

Had a terrible server named Zach who never came to the table with refills. He was inattentive and slow in getting what we asked for. The manager on duty was unable to listen and made excuses. OMG the pinion berry pancakes are to die for. I usually have eggs and chicken fried steak but decided on a whim to have the pancakes. They are super awesome and huge. I couldn't eat them all so I brought them home. I warmed them up and they were just as good later. These are a must try. read more

I've only dined here 3 times since they opened and so knew it was a new restaurant and would probably have some complications, so I went in with an understanding attitude, but this is the worst restaurant I've ever been too, and as a server, that's really saying something. I understand long wait times (even when there's open tables) because they don't have enough staff to cover the entire restaurant, but a 2 hour wait on a weekday morning is ridiculous and inexcusable. Not only that, but the server/bartender had us (a table of two) waiting half an hour to even greet us and ask for drinks. Then it took another half hour to make and deliver a house margarita and a bottle of corona. We spent half a day waiting and waiting. 2 hour wait and 1 hour to get drinks after we were sat... Chips and salsa which are free in most restaurants took another 45 minutes and we're cold and our waters where empty by then and never refilled. By the time the food got to us we needed boxes because unless you're a party of 10+ you don't spend 4 hours in a restaurant and even that's pushing it. The food was good and I'm so glad I used door dash the next time, but feel so bad for the delivery guy. I usually don't have face to face conversations with dashers but this poor soul let it out and apologized on behalf of the restaurant. I tipped him well and enjoyed my food. Most recently I ordered to-go and the lady who answered the call had no idea what was on the menu or what questions to ask. Being a server and ordering the same thing twice from this place I was very frustrated. I ordered the papas con carne. I understand if you don't know Spanish, but what I don't understand is if you have it written that way on the menu and hire someone to answer the phone who doesn't know the menu or what potatoes and meat means in Spanish. She literally said,"hang on I'm not sure if we have anything like that here." Considering that was the only thing I've ever eaten from there I was a little annoyed, but then 2 minutes later of "ummmmm let me seeeeeeeee" she finally found it, and so had to tell her how I wanted my eggs cooked and what chili I wanted to which she ignored and asked me again at the end of the call. She also asked if I wanted meat on the side to which I said nooooo it should come with it already.... Then she asked if I wanted sausage or bacon on the side and I said no it should already come with meat on it. When I got the order the receipt said "no meat" under my CARNE CON PAPAS which was just ridiculous and there was not tortillas. We called back and got the same girl with the same questions. Why she didn't hand the phone to a manger is beyond me, but we asked for the whole thing to be remade correctly and when my boyfriend got there the manager said he could only give us the meat and tortillas because we didn't bring the original messed up order back to the restaurant.. The atmosphere at the range is always entertaining, and their deserts are to die for! By far, they serve the best huevos rancheros in town. They have a full bar, though I, myself, am a beer person, and the portions are on the large side. You won't go home hungry from this place. read more

Waiting for about 15 minutes to be seated and it wasn't even packed, waited another 15 minutes before getting up and walking out. Come to see for myself there was 4 people standing behind the cashier/dessert stand talking including the manger in his polo shirt laughing to his co-workers. Ordered take-out dinner at 1749. Three things for take out, NM mac-n-cheese w/grilled chicken, Range quesadilla, and a slice of carrot cake. I was told it would be approximately 15 minutes. Arrived at the restaurant at 1810, went to the cashier and told them I had a take out order. The bill came to $33.40 (quesadilla $9.99, mac-n-cheese $10.99, chicken approximately $4, carrot cake $5.99 and tax). The order was input at 1812 without the carrot cake, even though I was charged for it. Finally got the order at 1835. The Range needs to train their staff better. We usually love going to Range Cafe, but this last time was not a good experience. We went for dinner and got the meatloaf with gravy, potatoes and mixed vegetables. The meatloaf and gravy was nice & hot. Unfortunately, the potatoes & mixed vegetables were room temperature. The service was lacking too. I had to ask several times for more water.
