Amazingly, while there are 3 bazillion different steroid nasal sprays, there is no patent medicine for this particular malady. Enter ye days of olde: Apothecary to the rescue. Okay, okay, well, nowadays they call this a 'compounding pharmacy'. But there's only one in town, and, happily, it's a division of People's Pharmacy. "Eye of newt, and toe of frog" it's not. Electronic transmission of the prescription from doctor to the pharmacy, and delivery to the People's location nearest you, that's how it works in the 21st century. Best of all, I thought I'd have to bird dog this process and it would take several days, but instead I was pleasantly surprised by the pharmacy CALLING ME to inform me my prescription was ready that same afternoon. When I asked if my prescription was actually at the pharmacy location, I was placed on hold momentarily and then told that it had already been delivered, a scant six hours from when I left my doctor's office. What incredible customer service! I sure hope I don't ever need another compounded prescription, but I am so glad this option exists locally!

Recently had an RX's tracking stall after a week. Called PD Labs to inquire because I was one day away from running out of a critical medication and they discovered my unit number had been missing from the address. They shipped a new RX overnight at their expense! The original RX eventually showed up that afternoon (the post person had guessed my unit number based on all of my other mail) and it was too late in the day to inform them (due to time difference). New RX arrived over the weekend. I called next business day to inform them of both orders arriving and asked how I could send the duplicate order back. They kindly told me to keep it for future use. Wow! Outstanding customer service which seems to be a lost art for many companies today. Thank you!!

My dealings with the pharmacy have been pleasant and it makes me feel good that they're knowledgeable about both the meds and the insurance payments. However, as many people have already commented, this location is over-worked and under-staffed. If possible, I'd recommend trying to order and pick up your meds on off-hours. And stay away from their drive-thru, there always seems to be 3-4 cars backed up there!

If you have a prescription filled at any CVS, and, after getting home, have a question come up for a licensed pharmacist regarding your medication, you have to leave a voicemail for a pharmacist to call you back, thus, it will necessary to call another pharmacy chain like Walgreens, HEB, or Costco, etc. to actually speak to a pharmacist, which also puts a strain on their pharmacists who are busy trying to do their job, which includes answering questions and counseling on Rx medications. This is not the fault of the pharmacist or pharmacy employees, but rather a terrible corporate practice at CVS, which could lead to a health endangering situation. I am going to redirect future prescriptions to Walgreens or another large(or small) "full service" pharmacy, where although it may be necessary to wait on hold, at least you can count on having a pharmacist answer an important question.

Each month, my prescription is delayed by two additional days for "investigation" of dosage differences that are already clearly documented and medically justified. This is not due diligence--it is a recurring obstruction to care. This pattern is unreasonable, unprofessional, and creates avoidable barriers to timely access to prescribed medication. Safeguards should ensure safe dispensing, not penalize patients who are following their treatment plans.

This particular CVS location in Leander is organized pretty much like all CVS locations-which I appreciate as I will eventually grasp the pattern of what is where versus wandering through the store. It's very clean and tidy. The people in the pharmacy department were very helpful and assisted me in determining that a coupon that I wanted to use for one of my medications that is very costly could indeed be used there saving me several hundred dollars. The pharmacy area of the store is quite large with separate places to turn prescriptions in, have a consultation with the pharmacist or pick up your prescriptions. I've seen this model at most pharmacies now due to HIPPA regulation but at CVS it's really spread out so doesn't feel crowded or cluttered. I stayed out of the Easter section by choice this time! I did tour the hair and make-up department while waiting for my rx. They advised it might be 15" but it was 5" at most. Very expedited service I'd say. I did pick up a couple necessities and checked out up front where a very nice young lady assisted me. I had a good experience at this location and would certainly recommend it.

FIND ANOTHER PHARMACY if you're looking to have an accurate, on-time prescription. I tend to order…read moremy prescriptions through the HEB Rx app. That process is ok, but it needs CONSIDERABLE work. The regular excuse I get is that the app isn't very good. Duh! Then don't put it out there! The biggest problem is that it will allow you to select a date by which you can pick up the prescriptions, but that is hardly ever correct. I have learned to request the latest time possible to pick up my prescriptions, but still there will be one missing or "ordered." My last time I was told the prescription was "on order" and would be ready the next day, but if I needed it they could still get it done the day I asked for it. That tells me that they have the drug, but they're making an excuse not to get it done on the day it was promised! Basically I'm being lied to. Something else the app does is automatically enroll you in an auto-refill program if you're not careful. It has done that to me more than once, and I just have to let the prescription sit there because I'm not ready for it. Then I get an email that the medication has put back into their supplies, which is fine with me because I never ordered it! When I am notified about prescriptions being ready, it comes piecemeal. Bad process. If one or two prescriptions are ready, that would imply to most people that ALL are ready -- which is never the case. Again, at least one or two are never ready when they say they will be. I gave my feedback to a general manager at that store, and they said they would have someone contact me. I'm not surprised no one ever did do that. If this wasn't the HEB I shopped at regularly for groceries I would never return here for my prescriptions. Then again I should consider going to a CVS that's right across the street from me. I am not surprised at the low average number of stars this place gets. The staff have always been nice enough. I do need to say that. But it's not enough to save this pharmacy from the mediocrity of its service.
